What im talking about is forcing people there to see some roleplay to be dragged into something they had no intention of getting involved in. Everyone in the world has been killing each other over religions, nationality and loyalties for centuries but that doesnt mean I should get involved in it.

Perhaps it was a faction based event, but it was the people there who made it faction vs faction. This was extended to the uni chat afterwards and sadly in this thread. My problem was with the attitudes and actions of people who obviously had a reason to be mad, but chose to act out on everyone in Karavan.

If roleplay events in the future should be expected to turn out like this just because of the aggression written into the lore, then roleplay in this game can only be expected to cause more drama and tension. I will not be included in any of that. I love killing my kamis in battle, but roleplaying aggressions just seems stupid. Nothing is going to cause greif more easily than people "roleplaying grief".

Just to clarify so no misunderstandings. This part is my opinion and why I dont want to be involved in future roleplay. Not calling anyone else stupid if they choose to.

The Events Team itself contributes in perpetuating the Civ vs Civ and Faction vs Faction tension. The Kami Response at the wedding is a direct result of previous Event Team actions, notably the burning of Thesos. The only difference is that the Kami Response was conceived, organized, and run by players of the community. It interacted in a Lore-appropriate way with an event conceived by the Events Team, who did not bother to consider something like this might happen when pretentiously excluding a large portion of the game from that event.

If you want to condemn anyone, condemn the Events Team and condemn those who introduced factions and civs in the first place before you condemn the players who are following the path that was carved out for them by others.

I'm not a role-player by any stretch of the imagination, like many others, so I'll happily interact with both Kami and Kara alike on friendly terms. Still others are adamant role-players who conduct themselves the way their characters might behave, with varying degrees of "strictness" to remaining In-Character.

Both of those ways to play are absolutely correct!

Because I'm not a role-player, it does not give me the right to tell others who ARE role-players that what they are doing is wrong, and they need to play the game the way I want them to play, and vice versa. The situation is similar with PvP.

This game you signed up for has Faction vs Faction tension, and it has tension between the four civs. This tension will be expressed through PvP and through the events. The scripted events promote this tension, as do the Devs via additions to the game.

Get over this really... People are making this very personal and its not. I am Fyros they are Matis.. it is written in the lore we are destined to be enemies. This wasn't an attack on the events team or the participants of the wedding..

Unfortunately it did get personal. Not the event itsselft but the aftermath.

Now that things have cooled down a bit... This is actually a good point that I missed in the initial discussion. (And I hope I can respond to it without dragging up the rest of the thread.)

Note that initially the invitation was going to be only for Matis, as a Matis Royal wedding would logically be, but since so few people align to a civ, we (Noobles) requested it be extended to all Karavan so that less people would be excluded.

So, the invitation said "Matis and Karavan", but the invitation was in character. So what it means is that you show up to the event with a Kamist character, you'll be treated as an unwanted guest... but that's all part of the RP. The Royal family doesn't want Kamists at their wedding, but does that mean the Event Team doesn't want Kamists at the event?

As a Fryos I thought the protest was quite in line with the history. It was fun, and kept the feud alive. It is still just a game. :)

I have no problem with the Fyros protest. Those of us teamed for the fireworks show were entertained by it.My one comment was "Loryen needs more then one macro."(I see your apology and understand it was unintentional)I think many expected a different response from the Event Team.Considering that they were unaware of the level of negative RP they used the tools they had to handle it. In hindsight perhaps the Matisian guards should have attacked them but considering they are in character most likely dealing with multiple tells and toons they did the best they could to simulate removal or silencing. I was there at the wedding site 2 hours prior and it took a while to spawn all the guards and other staging for the wedding. Prolly not doable on the fly to spawn and have guards attack the interlopers. I'm not sure resetting a toons faction to -50 is possible with ingame tools.TPing and muting seem sensible RP alternatives. If muting lasted many hours then that was probably wrong. 30 minutes was probably sufficient. As for Karavan players tagging many probably were not prepared for PvP seeing they thought they were just going to a wedding.(I personally only carry a couple of smaller weapons but leave all my bigger weapons at home.) :).I thought overall the Event was a fun time and hopefully we can learn from these mistakes to provide better ones in the future.(Sorry I'm late to this discussion but a hurricane and no power for 133 hours can cramp your gaming.-Kilgoretrout

yes and no. No problem with them showing up and protesting it. But a major problem with them dragging it out until removed from the area despite repeated warnings from the event team to stop (which were given).
At first it felt good, part of the event. But after a while it began to beome a major annoyance.
