IDEAS FOR RYZOM

Hi all,

Well, im on a roll today...

Ok, so we have had the change on the production rate of CATS, which is excellent as it breeds abit of action into Ryzom. What we need is for CATS to rot, go bad, expire, a best before date to stop guilds from hoarding CATS thus removing the need for conflict with the game.

From what i heard is some guilds have 15GH full of cats... that's over 15000 stacks!!!

Come on Dev's fix the CATS economy and breath life into the game.. were trying but carnt do it without the help of the dev's!!

Arn't those guilds inactive guilds?, i can't imagine guilds with guildhalls full of cats not using them when they are short. And ins't the production rate lowered just to get rid of those excess cats don't forget the months before the lowered production rates there where just to many cats ingame every guild tried getting rid of them in uni chat even heard ppl talking about destroying a batch if nobody came to collect them.

I think you got the wrong end of my stick Subo, I think the lowering of cat rates is a great idea.
All im trying to say is that cats should last for a couple of weeks before de-spawning.

If the guilds who have all the stockpiles are inactive then there is no harm with cats disappearing as it puts balance back into the economy over night(or whatever period the Dev's decide).

Well i see it more like a boost for a guild to restart if they come back they won't have an op in a week so having some cats to give to new recruits can boost their numbers a bit before they are strong enough to att an op. It's the same with all if you return your pvp gear hasn't degraded aswell so you still have the stuff you worked for and the same with cats. If you didn't gather cats back then sorry and if you didn't gather good gear back then also
Everyone had the same opportunities to do so when it was easy. But now punishing ppl who payed and played the game while you wheren't here during the good months when there where to much cats just because you returned when they lowered the production doesn't look fair to me.

ps. i don't have alts or other guildhalls and i don't have a single stack of cats on my char and i never hoarded cats aswell (maybe a partial one i forgot about somewhere)
ps2. and the guild I'm in doesn't have a guildhall full of cats on a good day you can find a couple of cats in there but by the time all logged on they are long distributed

Aye, but you don't need cats to attack an op and you don't need cats to be strong. If the guild did come back and has a huge supply of cats left over, then whats the point of attacking an op? 'i don't need it, i have loads of cats'.

Lol, Subo.. i have played this game many years on and off (lol, i still haven't got anywhere.. hehe, but that's the way i roll).. sometimes cats were plentiful and cats were sparse. Personally i dont care about them, i never ask my guild for any, lol...yes, i take them when offered :p

I just see cats as what they were designed for which is to promote conflict and teamplay within the game.. there a goal.. something to fight for.. if there are huge stockpiles (i could be wrong, rumours and whispers and all) it detracts from what cats stand for in the game and breaks the game design.

You heard wrong... no guild has 15 GH full of cats...
Cats are Crystals.... crystals don't rot...

We eat Crystals!!!, surely that's not healthy ;)

I might be wrong, i can only go by what i'm told Amnesia. At the end of the day, even if there isnt huge stockpiles, this idea fixes an issue.

Arn't those guilds inactive guilds?

I've heard rumours of active guilds with large Cats stockpiles. I don't expect a public admission if true, so we'll never know for sure.

Further, I've heard that the real reason for outpost conflict now is for outpost mats, not for cats; even with the nerf, cats still aren't valuable, since they provide nothing new. Outpost mats are the valuable commodities.

As I stated here, there are still plenty of guilds with huge stockpiles of cats, and yes some are still active. I think this is an excellent idea.

BIG +1.

I wouldnt want to check to see which ones are running low on time to use those first that would be a hassle. I like to quickly take whichever stacks are there.
There are a few other reasons that I'm too lazy to say at the moment.

Never argue with an idiot; they will just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

I haven't fully decided which side of the elimination idea I'm on yet, but the idea is that if you have stockpiles, you lose some, one time.

As long as you dno't have huge stockpiles, then all should be well. I know I used to see a lot of advertisements from Amicitia giving away cats, so assuming that has continued, you guys shouldn't have a problem.

It's aimed at the hoarders anyway.

what about all those sups that are rotting in guild halls? I know that I have a few from 2005.
... or is the beef only with cats ?

Hello!

For me this is all about huge overabundance that is specific to cats due to poor balancing (ie: none at all) of output:players. Could fix it by killing the large stockpiles and getting the balancing right from now on as I suggested in the other thread, or an expiry.

My guild doesn't have that many stacks of cats and we have very busy RL schedule, which doesn't allow us to log on very often. So when we'd come back during holidays (when we finally have time to play, the cats would be «rotten » and we'd be a bit more than just seriously annoyed.

This would only be a serious disadvantage for small guilds without an OP that have a very small reserve of cats for their few members leveling craft.

On the other hand, I wouldn't mind if flowers were to decay and stop eating considerable bulk in my GH. Flowers decaying, unlike crystals, seems perfectly natural to me.
