The arena could also hold contests like the Scottish games or even the Olympics. How about a good chariot race? Make the area but leave rest of land nonpvp.

Ballistic Mystix organized a PvP event in the arena(ok Ini did but under our auspices:)).The outcome was hurt feelings.Teams that joined were not neccessarily easily evenly matched together. Lower teams felt they were cannon fodder.You say make brackets to even it out. Not doable when only 4 or 5 teams apply.We did manage to put together one on one PvP matches more easily doing the nuke when naked test to determine hps.I'd like more of these events maybe someone will step up and organize something.-Kil

I have ran a chess league and we deal with players of varying levels. We may have a Grandmaster or IM and a very low rated player on the same team. The way we deal with this is by matching the together highest players. While the lowest players were matched. We also set a cap on the team.

So in PVP we could apply the same concepts. Higher vs Higher. If the other team average is only 150 then ask the other team to field a team that is no more than 175 or so. Still giving the advantage. Or to be fair just set a team cap equal to the lowest fielded team.

This would only be necessary for PVP.

For the competition Kil was referring to was not individuals signing up, but teams. However, even if we had set it up that way, just determining each players "levels" is not supported in any way in the game and can allow for exploiting the event. For the individual bouts it didn't matter your skill level as you were placed according to your HP. If you did not remove all your armor and jewels then it could possibly put you in a higher bracket and therefore one could not exploit the division - much like boxing and wrestling. Yes, this method could be used for teaming, but if we would have had more teams shown up that would have been a logistics nightmare for everyone involved for all the testing and team building.

As far as 150+ zones set as PvP.. -1. There are already plenty of PvP zones for those that wish to partake. For those in love with PvP, perma-set yourself as tagged and look for others or make a shout out that you are looking for PvP action in (name of location).

not surprising at all given the increased focus (ill conceived for the reasons you mention alone) on pvp content by Winch Gate.

Plus it may well be the same players bringing up calls for more pvp time and time again, maybe on different toons.

PvP should be expanded, but in terms of quality not quantity. Have large areas forced PvP zones? I would not support this. Instead give PvP more reason, interesting mechanics, better rewards. There are countless PvP competition games out there (RTS, FPS etc), the possibilities are endless.

PvP has its place on Atys, but as mentioned before at the cost of PvE and non violent activities. It is the variety that counts, not the simplest solution.

Well said .... though I am concerned about how parts might be interpreted .....I'm for separate but equal ...... comparable but not necessarily the same rewrds should be avialable though PvP or PvE. One should NOT be forced in either direction because they would otherwise be denied access to areas, rewards, etc.

and thats why Iala that I said this new region would not have mats to dig for and if you were there it would ONLY for PvP.. This is the only way I think it would make most people happy.

This is the essence of all my PvP suggestions. New pointless PvP content, like regions and such? Nah. More improving and expanding for the old content, like Outposts and tagged PvP, that still have plenty of unrevealed potential? Yes, please!

I can't really put my thoughts better than Arc and Tumbleweed just have. We have lots of PvP opportunities; what we sometimes miss is motivation to use them.
