You may or may not be aware that server reboots can (and often do) scrub outpost battles. There's not much that can be done about crashes but there are also planned maintenance reboots scheduled every(or every other) Monday am European time.

This means that if you plan an attack over the weekend, there's a good chance it'll be cancelled by the reset. Obviously this sucks for the majority of people who have the most free time available to play during the weekends. The problem is especially acute on Arispotle because our primary language is English, thus our community is spread throughout the world and over many different timezones leaving the weekend as the only period during the week when we can all get together.

I did raise this issue several years ago and the reboots were moved to Wednesday, but for some silly reason they got pushed forward again. I would like to see the shard reboot(s) pushed back to mid-week once more so that we can get maximum participation at battles more often. (and hopefully reduce some of the ill-feelings and whining)

Hmm, would that be treating the symptoms and not the root cause? The root cause is that the reboot wipes out the settings for an outpost battle. Just like it wipes out settings for custom channels, and boss spawn timers, and supernodes, and probably a bunch more.

I'd say let's get the dev(s) to retain these settings and timers between reboots. That way there won't be any hard feelings any time during the week, even when you guys schedule a battle for the middle of the working day during the middle of the week so fewer defenders can be present.

If moving the reboot to the middle of the week, and it continues to wipe out settings, there is potential for abuse:

1) declare before the reboot and set a false time
2) defenders plan their defense, scheduling time away from real life as appropriate
3) reboot happens, wipes settings
4) re-declare for the real time at the last possible moment
5) defenders caught with pants down, scheduled time away from real life during non-activity, and op battle proceeding when they can't re-schedule real life again

The current pending battle is a prime example. Some of us are taking time off of work to participate. With your change in place, we could be out vacation time and still not able to participate to help friends.

Sure it would be nice if all of those things could be preserved, I'm all for it. However it's a lot more work and this would be something that could be done immediately to improve the situation and not 2 years down the line.

Just had to have a dig didn't you? It's all a load of baloney I've heard too many times to care about anymore from all sides. There is _no_ good time for everybody during the week on this server, what would be a good time for you could be when I'm sleeping or working and vice-versa. This is why I'm trying to widen the window of time which is good for 'most everyone. So lets not go there in this thread.

There can and has been actually, as battles consist of many phases which can stretch out over a long period of time, even if the fighting is over with.

yep moving it to the middle of week gives ppl a bigger window during and after the weekend

ps. and if there is a magic moment assians/russians/europeans/americans are on pls let me know since we have ppl from every time zone in guild and some ppl i've yet to meet because of timezones
ps2. and yes ive been on at 2am-6am at night for kami battles in the past lots of times during workdays

In the past server reboots have cancelled some battles and then let others go on. It was not fair that people did all that work to have it taken away by a server reboot.
Also, for some Americans the time really is not that late during the weekend and interrupts plans. Moving it to the middle of the week would be good to make people go to sleep earlier in America just saying ;)
Of course there are pros and cons just pointing out a few things. Overall I agree that this would be for the better.

Weekend battles always had been gathering a lot of people from both sides. Even if the timing is a bit awkward for your timezone, it's quite easy to sacrifice few hours of sleeping on the weekend. With these regular Monday reboots people kinda forced to declare attacks in the middle of the week if they don't want their time and efforts being wasted by the reboot. That leads to situation when some people just can't attend because of jobs or classes.

I see no reasons why weekly reboots can't be sheduled for another time. Would be the same thing, just two or three days later.

Talking about bad timings, i've been attending battles in early mornings (5-8 am) my time, and also i've missed a couple of them because of work. Never complained about it, as i understand that players from another side of the globe may declare at any time whatever fits them better and they aren't obliged to care if the timing is good or bad for me.

I don't care one way or the other about the OP battles that get cancelled, you can schedule around that if you don't like it. But moving the reboot to the middle of the week almost guarantees that no one from North America will be around to dig the supernodes.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the supernodes supposed to be harvested after season change. Digging them after every reboot is just exploiting incomplete game mechanics letting them to pop up when they meant to be empty. So why to care about it.

How's that? If it's around the same time GMT it'll be evening for much of the US, midnight at the latest. Which again is much nicer what the Europeans have to deal with(as usual).

LOL its the reboots that refill the supernodes, and moves the spawns around at different seasons.

You get the mechanics wrong. They refill at server boot, but the content changes at season change.
So it's quite possible to see them empty at season change because they were dug out before and the changing season didn't change the content (this happens with some but not all changes).
In other seasons, you might have 2 chances to dig them.

If that's an exploit, it's been a known exploit by the devs for 7 years and nothing's been done to "fix" it, so I have to assume it's working as intended and making use of it is not an exploit at all.

Thank you for corrections. Although it doesn't matter. In this case concerns of the majority of players involved in OP battles must prevail over concerns of the small couple desiring to dig supernodes. If some feature spoils gameplay for many dozens of players, such feature must be either changed or fixed.
