hello

i like to see Ryzom with more survivor things apart of be strong to beat the beast how are out there, i refer about eat things to gain stamina or drink when it is needed by the character.

i think ryzom will be more fun if you have to worries about more things than gain experience for the next level :-|, IMO .

«But my belief that miracles have happened in human history is not a mystical belief at all; I believe in them upon human evidences as I do in the discovery of America. Upon this point there is a simple logical fact that only requires to be stated and cleared up. Somehow or other an extraordinary idea has arisen that the disbelievers in miracles consider them coldly and fairly, while believers in miracles accept them only in connection with some dogma. The fact is quite the other way. The believers in miracles accept them (rightly or wrongly) because they have evidence for them. The disbelievers in miracles deny them (rightly or wrongly) because they have a doctrine against them. ...» ~G.K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy cont. http://tj-markdown-paste.herokuapp.com/posts/354428

These alreaday exist with occupations:

Water-Carrier Life and sap regeneration
Magnetic Cartographer Life and stamina regeneration
Florist Sap regeneration
Toolmaker Stamina regeneration
Butcher Life Regeneration
Medic Life Regeneration
Larvester Focus Regeneration

Yes, but I believe our poster is talking about a little more. Like a system where you actually have to eat and drink regularly, rather than eat and drink just giving temporary stat bonuses that aren't really needed.

Am I right?

would that mean i would get up from my stables to got find food or water? or could i just drink the water in liberty lake and get a fishing rod to get some fish, already have the fire since last patch if the stable keeper starts selling the mats for that i'm set for life

That sounds nice, I like it.
It'd be awesome to actually make use of ENTIRE animal as we hunt. Roast goari claws... stewed capryni flank... dried rendor hams... stinga rum... cratcha cider... psykopla energy drink... :-)

While there indeed are "occupations", they seem like something that was just tacked on to the game without any context. They're a gameplay mechanic, not a "living" part of the world.

well for me it would actually kill the game if i have to go get mats/food/drinks to survive on atys there are sometimes weeks or even months i don't do a thing just sit at stables and chat and if that would mean i have to move atleast once a day or something bad happens would make me just to cancel my sub

I've played many muds that had this implemented, and never felt like it was a hassle. The ones that do it best handle it thus:

When you are hungry or thirsty, regeneration takes longer. If you are both, it compounds.

A waterskin can be filled and can keep you satiated for a journey at least.

If you choose to go hungry or thirsty for a while, nothing negative occurs to your character aside from the slower regeneration.

So - this makes it necessary to buy some food or hunt / forage some foodstuffs and fill one's waterskin (which can be done for free at a fountain, lake, etc) before going out to hunt or quest, otherwise hunger can be disregarded if we're just socializing and can't be bothered to find some food.

As an aside, it may be fun if we had a new tool: dowsing rods, for foraging for water.

Heh, I played plenty of such MUDs as well, and that particular "feature", hunger/thirst, always annoyed the hell out of me ;)

well maybe for ryzom 2 in 50years or so but not for a game thats been around for years changing the whole game would be to hard

ps what like i'm doing now i've been sitting around for some weeks now only to get up for the occasional boss hunt or rez would mean when i got to rez somebody or kill a boss i'm nerfed or i first need to get food while the persons timer runs out or while the whole team is waiting on sub to get his gear and now beer and yubo leg

That's a very good point suboxide. I wouldn't want that to get in the way of MY rez, for sure. :)

Perhaps the opposite, then - if a food / water foraging system is in place, then different foods and waters enriched with certain nutrients give small bonuses for a period of time. So if you knew you were going on a boss hunt you could stop on the way and pick a certain berry which gives you a small sap boost, long enough for the battle - but if called out for a rez in a hurry, you wouldn't be going at a disadvantage if you hadn't eaten anything.

This may be a better solution than slowing regeneration when hungry, but then again now we're getting away from the OP's intent, which was to implement a survival system / increase immersion. I happen to like immersion and all the cans of worms it opens, but in a game with existing systems like this one it has to be implemented properly.

well we already have flowers that give a small boost for 1h and don't forget about the occupation stuff that give also boosts

I think the best compromise is that being "well-fed" or "well-watered" gives small bonuses, yeah.

To avoid it becoming an annoyance, the bonus would have to last a long time. At least 24 hours. Eat once, you're well-fed for a day.

It's sort of what Sub said though ... we already have the flowers and occupations, so we have the long-term small buff, and the short-term big buff. Do we really need another? A medium-length medium-sized buff? Dunno..

I don't really consider an hour "long term" myself...
