New char not receiving titles/badges/items from character creation - TECHNICAL SUPPORT / WEB APPs BUGS

I created a new char, played for a while and decided to delete and create another char with the same name but different race.

Now I don't receive any of the Title, badges and item that I selected during character creation. It just has the default 'Refugee' title and no badges. I get only default items during Silan Refugee tutorial. I didn't get the dagger with extra HP that I chose in character creation. I tried selecting badges from the Actions window, but that didn't work either.

I create a character with a different name and there's no problem, it works correctly.

tl;dr - delete char, and create new char with same name won't receive items/title/badges selected during character creation

small update:

After deleting a character, and creating a new character of the same name, on login the game is showing the Last Login time of the old deleted character in (Sys. Info.) tab.

Maybe the server isn't properly purging the character data on deleting a char? That might be causing the problem.

you should make sure that when you delete a character, all its configuration files in the ryzom /save installation directory with the same name are also deleted. If the new character created has the same name as the old one, with the configuration files remaining from the old character with the same name, I don't know what happens, it must take over the old character's configuration.

Be careful, though, as you'll lose all the old character's config, map points and macros.

il faudrait s'assurer que lorsque vous supprimez un personnage, tout ses fichiers de configuration dans le répertoire d'installation de ryzom /save portant le même nom soient également effacés. Si le nouveau personnage créé porte le même nom que l'ancien avec les fichiers de configuration qui restent de l'ancien personnage du même nom, je ne sais pas ce qui ce passe, il doit reprendre la configuration de l'ancien.

Attention quand même car vous allez perdre toute la config et les points sur la carte de l'ancien personnage ainsi que ses macros.

I tried deleting the files from the 'save' directory. I even tried launching from fresh new profile. The problem still persists.

Can someone see if they can replicate the problem on their computer so we can check if it is a server-side issue and not just a problem with my client?

1. create character with some name
2. delete character
3. create character with same name
4. login to that character and check if you don't receive the title+badges you had chosen in character creation. Also, trying to set the badges from the 'Actions' window doesn't work.

2> delete MagezTest

3> Created a new character "MagezTest" selected "i like to chat in bar" & "i like crafting".

4> cannot do tutorial, cannot access encyclopedia (blank page)
so i also cannot change badges or my title, i have the "agnostic" title from (1) applied to my new character.
cannot interact with any of the tutorial npc's or objects.

Interesting. If you have the title from the deleted character applied to your new character, then I think it's safe to say server is not deleting old character properly. The new character is probably picking up stale data from old character that is likely causing the problem.

The hardlock on tutorials definitely needs to be looked at.
The odds of creating a new character and choosing a name that was deleted by someone else is small but it is possible.
Creating a character and changing your mind about race or looks and recreating it with the same name but new race is probably bigger.

Any luck finding a solution? I really like the badges and would like to activate them on my character that's missing them :)

Also, I noticed at least one other new player on Silan who didn't have the badges and only had 'Refugee' title. I don't think new players will even realise it's not working and they can't get the badges/title from character creation if they delete and recreate characters.

It's now possible to choose badges if the character doesn't have any (if that doesn't work, you can contact me directly on RC).

I did find the reason for the bug, I'm looking for the best solution :)

Yes. (Shift+E -> Titles & Badges -> Badges) for badges, and (Shift+E -> Titles & Badges -> RP & Events -> Background) for the new title.

It usually works fine, but for some characters there's a chance it might not work.
