IDEAS FOR RYZOM

Closer to usual place of approach of players, weaker monsters and vice versa, farther - stronger.
So that there is no gap of dozens of levels between close groups of mobs.

For example, yubo near player's first spawn location.
At very entrance there will be lvl 1, a little further lvl 2, even further lvl 3, etc., up to 4-5 lvl at farthest border of spawn and from player’s spawn point and from ranger camp.

Same goes for other monsters.
For example, mektobs will have not only 26 (dockle) and 30 lvl (young).
Add soft gradation between 25 and 30 lvl, specific value from range is chosen randomly.

And to prohibit too large a gap between predators and prey.
For example, in the far harbor, crabs of 35 lvl really want to offend animals of 5 lvl, which upsets the balance of the ecosystem - the animals can neither fight back nor run away, which is found in real wildlife and which, in theory, should also be found in Ryzom. Why are these victims of insidious game designers still alive in such lawlessness? O_o

Balancing an MMO is difficult, and changing one small thing can have far-reaching repercussions.
So here, levelling the playing field between predators and prey would lead to endless battles between them. In terms of gameplay, the role of predators is to prevent players from progressing freely wherever they want. If monsters are constantly fighting each other in endless battles, it's as if there were no monsters left.

Yes, balancing living world is a big problem.
But there is trick - more try, better get. Like experience is gained, profession of game designer is pumping up, and each next attempt gives more benefit :)

If player wants to be attacked by monsters - no problem.
Assign priority to aggressive mobs on players.

And herbivores don't have to fight endlessly. I wrote directly - their task is to run away and only if it is impossible to escape, join battle.
But not until death of enemy, but before opportunity arises to try to escape again.
This is exactly how it works in the wild. Wolf killed and ate hare - ok, hare killed and ate wolf - not ok :)

no

it's fine as it is, your not seeing the forest for a single tree, when you leave the starter island and see the massively larger world of atys, you'll see that your asking for things that make no logical sense for 99% of the game because silan is a very tiny part of a very huge game world.

i have to wonder if you always play a game .001% deep and start asking for changes to be made to suit your ideal game world. (which would otherwise brake the unique and carefully balanced world that is ryzom)
