Add not only an indication of distance, also direction to nearest resource node, so as not to waste extra time running back and forth, tracking change in number. Real resource collectors don't work that way! And in most games everything is much more logical, in Ryzom we can do even better than the competition, but for some reason this has not been done yet... -_-

compass direction would make sense. on the other hand though, spots don't move so you only need to find it 1 time and then know it forever (if you flag or remember the spot)

ryzom is better the other games, and while there are bugs with the resource tracking, they're well known and documented in the forums by the player base.

again: ryzom is not a beat it in a week game, ryzom is a long term game ment to be played for years and years.

guess you are of the impression that in the real world everything is marked with a sign that says "drill here for oil" and "dig here for coal" and "dig here for iron".... the point is that much like real life you have to 'wildcat' to find resources.

your posting all these ideas based on the viewpoint of a small child in terms of your toon and overall knowledge of atys as a whole. put in the effort and help your toon grow up into a teenager with a loose grasp of the world they live in. right now you just don't have the time in game to really know what to ask for, it'd be like trying to get a PhD in quantum physics when your in the first grade of schooling, you wouldn't have the slightest understanding of what was being asked and would be taking shots in the dark trying to answer the questions required.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

il existe une compétence qui s'appelle : "recherche de gisement" et qui te donne la distance de ta source ... il te suffit de suivre son indication ... a toi de l'utiliser correctement ....
la distance se réduit: j’approche de ma source
la distance augmente : je m'en éloigne

Heh) You kiddind me?) Use +many meter search, see number, find 1m or less, ok, dig with another search and... not found.
Go to another place, end search, start again, move to position, 1m or less. And... Nothing, zero. This not ok.

But in game exist zone with many res, search in this space give many sucsess :-)

A check showed that the problem was that the quality search boundary was too high. Apparently, the developers decided that there are no excellent materials on low-level locations and trying to find something including them fails the search as a whole.
If you lower the search terms to "2++ or lower (instead of 4++++ or lower), the search runs fine as before.
