IDEAS FOR RYZOM

#1 [en]

Having played about with macros to set up my alt and switch out gear sets is very convenient but sometimes I have noticed some issues with macros and have been at a loss to why they are not working.

One of this issues is very specific and having a wait ability may fix it (it may not either). If you have a zig and it holds you other gear sets to swap sets you need to remove the zig from you bag, swap your gear, then put the zig back in the bag. Sometimes you only equip some items or no items get equipped, running the macro a second time seems to complete it.

Another issue I am seeing, is specific to assist tageting using target team #, then target current target's target. In some cases this does not activate fast enough and you cast/attack your current target before the assist happens.

I assume all commands in a macro get executed instantly? which sometimes causes the issues (first issue always happens).

If there was an ability to wait x milliseconds in the macro before it continues then we could stop the afore mentioned issues from happening.

There is a /sleep command but that is 1) in seconds, and 2) freezes the client for x seconds but does not prevent the issues with the macro.

A wait ability that does not freeze the client but allows other tasks to complete during the waiting period would help I think.

Thank you.

Or just fix those macros to block until the action is complete

Je pense que cela a été mis comme ça au départ pour ne pas transformer les macros en un système de bot interne.

I do not believe putting a delay into the macro could enable bot like abilities.

Macro's run sequentially, they do not have loops, they do not have conditions, and they do not have the ability to run other macro's.

Therefore I don't think using 'bot' could be a reason to not implement this change.

We can already do a lot of things with them and you say it yourself, most of your requests are made to automate alts. Alts are tolerated to a certain extent (see the restrictions on the code of conduct that some would do well to reread) but it is not an obligation and it is not a matter of favoring them.
This is just my opinion.

Macros are not just for alt.

Personally, I suffer from chronic tendonitis (and I know I'm not the only one, far from it)..

So I don't have the opportunity to manage 5 customers as some do (because of the pain in my arm and my finances too LOL).

For example
[I would have liked to be able to limit clicks to loot, but "take all" is reserved for drilling.
  • Reloading a weapon with sap is also a pain (last time I looked, you couldn't create a macro), so I hardly ever use this function anymore.
  • Open zigs inventory: no macro possible on the SHIFT+P window (it's not in the window list). I often open the wrong window, because the zig we've just taken out of the bag disappears from the Animeaux window for a brief moment :/
  • Doing the florist's job: the mission window doesn't close - cancelling a mission (to avoid going to the dung heap) = lots of useless clicks..
I don't make requests on these subjects, because at a forge meeting (at the launch of the storyline) I tried to talk about it without success... but I don't think I'm the only one with this type of concern......

That's why I suggested sharing a patch that would allow spells to be launched automatically in the same way as attacks (the code was done, all you needed was a "yes"). But this kind of functionality will remain limited to people who know how to code or set up bots..

Although this doesn't change the basic problem (improving the game's ergonomics, which really does have a lot of room for improvement), there are a few "tricks" that might help you with what you've pointed out :

- You can loot everything on the mobs with the "tab" key; I can't remember if you can put it on another key/in a macro (and if "tab" doesn't work, it's because I've changed it, so it's customizable). I think there's a command to do it (so it'd be possible at worst in a macro this way), if I find it, I'll mark it..
- Pockets can now be reloaded using a macro. In fact, you link the macro to square 1 of the pocket, put your crystals there, and it allows you to reload without clicking (but you still have to press the keyboard).

It's not much, but if it can make your game a little more comfortable...

Many keys are configurable. The take all function is grayed out in the key list (window K) because it has no default key, but it is configurable. The same applies to pockets, without even needing to create a macro..
