IDEAS FOR RYZOM

It would be really nice to be able to see the durability percentage remaining for tools in the hand, especially since you can not obtain this information when the crafting window is open.

At first I thought maybe upper left but in testing that would not be very readable, so bottom left.

+ 100%

I take the issue is that when durability runs out, its not visible for player?

Its more like: You are unable to check durability when the crafting window is open. As it's a blocking window.

I know that, but I don't understand why do you need to know the durability?

I checked it, when durability runs out, crafting tool shows red x on the icon and there is also error message.

"Why do you want to know the status of X" is not a useful question.

"Because we do" is the only real answer which is equally useless.

We want to be able to check it. To know when it's about to run out. etc. etc.

It doesn't matter "Why".

The reason I ask, it's because the left-bottom corner is item stack count and showing durability there is not the best.

I would show warning of sort on craft window (next to button) when durability drops below certain value, but knowing the useful threshold without the reason it's needed is difficult.

Each feature is also extra code that needs to be maintained and it can't be that easily removed anymore.
New UI code also adds to UI clutter and I would best avoid it without good reason.

Having the value on the crafting window would be an excellent solution I think.

I would fully settle for crafting window not blocking mouse-over tool event. That surely isn't intentional.

better make the tool break randomly, like in real life

Good idea, but Perhaps a durability bar instead?

I think craft window blocks interaction with hands bar so user would not activate different craft action and not necessarily to block interaction with tool.

The newer patch actually gave the workaround for this (which I forgot), just use equip tab to check tool durability.

Yup, decent workaround.

One downside is I have to stretch Equip window way too much to see hands, so read-only icon of tool in use somewhere in crafting window would be appreciated intermediate improvement.

But, IMO even rough visual clue of item's durability is, while not needed, good QoL addition. Specially in conjunction with Equip window.

Let's say there are 4 levels of visual clue:
- green (76 - 100)
- yellow (51 - 75)
- amber (26 - 50)
- red (1 - 25)

Then one can at a glance see if anything equipped needs replacement before heading out on an hour long session instead of mouse-overing every item.

Of course, plenty of discussion on how to do it required but in general I think it'd be a good thing to have.
