What: Add zigs to Ryzom that are purchasable with real life currency. Additionally, add more variety and unique-skinned zigs to the game so that people can collect them.

Why: Because zigs are fun cosmetic items, but not every player has the time required to collect tokens and elements of zigs from the Wheel of Fortune. Zigs are primarily cosmetic items with limited functionality, and allowing the ability to purchase them with real life currency would not create unbalanced gameplay. Additionally, the money from zig purchases would help support the server and longevity of Ryzom.

I'll point out that there is currently running an August promotional event which gives players a unique cosmetic mektoub with the purchase of a subscription. So to say that cosmetic rewards in exchange for real money is not "in the tradition of Ryzom" is not exactly correct.

Atys is a living planet. Things change. There is more to existence than merely repeating the past "because tradition". 

The only real turmoil I've seen in the entire decade I've been here is the conflict between those that feel things should never be allowed to change because Atys should be as it was, and those who feel Atys is more than just a mono-culture stuck in a time loop. There is a diversity of views, including opinions about how much tradition should hold us back and restrict us, and I think that we should at least consider leaving a long-gone past.

Sure, NPC armor should be earned in-game since it has a pretty drastic affect on gameplay. And certain cosmetic items, like candy canes and pumpkin helmets, have a commemorative value that should not be sold for money. But the storage offered by Zigs has less gameplay impact than simply creating storage alts. And with so many folks having far more Zig fragments than they can use, it's not like Zigs have much value anyways; they are far from rare. Like commemorative items, some zigs should still be earned, but I feel that the basic ZigGubanis are so common and of such limited use that they should be offered for dappers at this point. 

As for the albino mektoub skin, you missed the point there. It has nothing to do with functionality, simply the fact that a reward is given in exchange for RL money. Something that you assert is "not in the tradition of Ryzom". The point was that tradition was already broken But you didn't complain about that, so there is a double standard that makes your objection disingenuous. And calling the Albino mek irrelevant simply comes across as the sort of arrogance that does not care about thing like facts or consistency. Unless that was intentional, you might want to reconsider your approach. 

While I can see a case against offering things which do offer significant in-game benefit or have symbolic value for RL money, you are doing a poor job of making a case against Zigs by adding to the turmoil.

other ideas for cosmetics

mount bundle (except for the gnoof mount)
Atysmas cosmetic bundle
Anlor wynn bundle

these are all cosmetics only, and they can still be "farmed" inside the game, so it's only for those who don't have time.

something like that, make it a bundle so it feels worth it for the player buying that bundle, more money for ryzom and more trinkets for the players that just "chills" when they're logged in, I'm becoming one of those that logs in just to chat, never thought the day would come xD.

and hey, more money for ryzom.

I chose my words carefully to try to avoid sounding accusatory when my intent was merely to point out how you came across while allowing for the possibilty that something was mistranslated in a way that made you come across harsher than you intended. Apparently mistranslation goes both ways. 

Also, I personally have serious issues with any arguments based on tradition for reasons not appropriate to discuss here. Suffice it to say that I've seen that argument used in ways that evoke a visceral adverse response.

I have to disagree with that list. To my mind, those items those fall under "commemorative items". Some of them have (slight) advantages over normal gear. Gubani mounts offer enough benefit that I think they should require more effort than just opening the wallet, even if that effort is simply tracking down a player who has extra and arranging a trade. 

The only things I can think of that are purely cosmetic with no appreciable value in either mechanics or rarity are underwear and ZigGubanis. I have no issue with those being sold, but have reservations about other things.

Chacun peut avoir une réponse viscérale sur certains points. Si il y en sur la tradition, pour d'autre (et moi) c'est sur introduction d'un cashshop dans le jeu.

On peut être pour ou contre accorder un avantage de joueurs sur d'autres contre de l'argent réel et vous vous êtes aperçu que je ne suis pas pour. Maintenant, le débat peut être apaisé entre joueurs, j'aimerai revenir sur certains points qui ont été évoqué ici et dire pourquoi je suis contre. Je ne nommerai personne, je parlerai juste des idées.

Il a été demandé de payer contre de l'argent réel des zigs, donnant un avantage ou pas, et des simples cosmétiques ne donnant pas d'avantages avec pour justification de soutenir les finances du jeu en lui même. Avec des arguments comme :

-les zigs donnent des avantages, mais pas si grands que ça et tout le monde en a en surnombre
-les cosmétiques ne donnent pas d'avantages
-ça soutient les finances du jeu

Ryzom est un vieux MMO qui base toute sa mécanique sur le temps passé sur le jeu. Il faut du temps pour acquérir de l'expérience, du temps pour monter des niveaux, du temps pour forer, du temps pour trouver les boss, du temps pour faire les missions qui vont permettre d'avoir des Dappers, des jetons ou des Elyps qui vont permettent d'avoir des objets à la roue (et du temps pour jouer à la roue ...)
Un zig donne un avantage puisqu'il permet d'avoir plus de place de rangement. Mais en acquérir un contre de l'argent réel donne aussi un énorme avantage sur le temps par rapport au autres joueurs qui ont passé le leur pour les avoir en faisant des missions ou autre.

Certains n’ont pas de temps pour jouer a ryzom. C'est triste et dommage, je compatis et je suis de tout cœur avec eux, mais c'est la vie. On pourrai
leur rétorquer que certain n'ont pas d'argent pour se payer un abonnement, doit on rendre gratuit ryzom pour ça ? En fait si vous n'avez pas le temps pour obtenir un zig et que tout le monde a en en surnombre, peut-être que quelqu'un peu vous en donner un, pas la peine d'introduire un cashshop, le 'mal' dans le jeu.

Au sujet des cosmétiques ne donnant pas d'avantages, on en revient au point plus haut. Si ils ne donnent pas d'avantage au niveau gameplay, payer pour eux donne un avantage sur le temps. Après il est possible de les échanger ou les donner entre joueurs, ça les regardent, mais introduire un cashshop avec de l'argent réel pour les avoir c'est ouvrir la boite de pandore dans le jeu avec tous les risques de trafics et de marché noir derrière. C'est tirer par les cheveux mais ça peut exister dans l'absolu,( désolé je vois le mal partout ;) )même je ne sais pas si ça serait même rentable de passer du temps pour les farmer et les revendre pour en tirer profit, il n'y aurait sans doute pas assez de joueurs pour les acheter.

Quand on dit que le cashshop a déjà été fait avec la peau albinos et le zig premium ce n'est pas la même chose. On a pas payé directement pour les avoir, on a payé un abonnement, avec un cadeau en plus pour passer du temps a un moment ou il y a moins de personnes en jeu. Le zig premium est limité a un par compte, ça limite les risques de trafics.

Quant a l'argument de soutenir les finances du jeu, on a vu précédemment qu'il y a des manières plus saines qui ont été envisagées pour ça en dehors du jeu lui même sur le forum. Si je me souviens bien il était question de tirer des posters et les joueurs avaient répondus qu'ils désireraient pouvoir acheter des peluches réelles et des figurines 3D pour soutenir le projet.

Zigs are not cosmetics. They are a tool, an utility. And every such item if used correctly gives an advantage. It doesn't matter how big the advantage because one can not set a scale upon which to measure said advantage.

Albino skin is cosmetics. By all means, do sell cosmetics. The more the merrier. Even to the point of certain cosmetic items not being obtainable by other means.

Have players given chance to submit creations. If approved, player gets some discount on subscription or even a month free, game gets to sell it and earn some cash. Others get to play some RyFashion. All parties happy.

I think this is a great idea. Although this topic ruffles some feathers, at the end of the day a cosmetic shop is a viable way to support the game that is providing us with great entertainment.

I have played many other games that have shops with cosmetic items and it's fun. Since the items on the shop would have no effect on strength of your character, you dont necessarily have to buy them.

I think it would be a great idea to bring some sort of cosmetics shop for irl money to the game or something tied to each month's sub. like a zig or tokens or hair styles or something.

PS: also would love to see services like name change, gender/race change for irl fee. something in the lines of re-editing your character in the character creation page.
