I hear ya. I had to come here to say my useless piece though. It doesn't affect me since I'm just here to see what happens next. I hope everyone has an enjoyable time but to me one alt is the same as eight. My fun is chatting with you all and playing on forums. Some like to play many characters. Others excell in 1v1. We all have different views of fun so I would hope we can find an honest solution is all rather than just take someone's joy.

In an OP war, the ones who are at a disadvantage are the ones not using 4 toons to nuke one target or heal the same target.

4 toons nuking you makes even jewels worthless, so how can you even say those using 4 toons are at a disadvantage?

Yet still you dont understand mechainces of the game, you can have 50 poeple in your guild do the same to anything you target. it will die instantly.
you don't wnat to use the mechanics yet complain about someone that does?
you have the same ability. you can ask 3 other members in your team or guild to do the same... your target will die instantly. they can set it all up in 3 keys.
you can even nuke and heal in 1 button.

Yeh bucs.. learn game mechanics... lol.. Thanks Nit but we know a bit more than just macroing to either heal or nuke on 1 button although golly gosh that really is impressive!

The days of 50 people in a guild are gone.. Try 25 people in a faciton. Try 25 people in a faction against what should be even numbers but because of alts turns into fighting 50+. As I have stated before we have won against those odds and lost against those odds but win or lose it all comes back to the same thing.. a massive alt heal pod at OP wars is boring, sucks and turns OPs into a spam fest (but from the sounds of it you are well versed in spam fests). Sure it brings the challenge of how can we wipe that pod which is why pretty much all of us are launcher masters and still manage to wipe double our numbers but OPs should be more about skill not just how many alts you can sub, log and spam 1 on.

I completely agree with might virg and buckshot,
Everyone should play the game as specified virg and buckshot, nobody should use an alt even if they want to pay for more accounts, if anyone plays the game differently they should be driven out of the game.
OPs should be a solo pvp challenge so a faction of 25 players can beat them.
These guys can really teach us a lot about building a community and a family/guild :)
What would I know I only spam one button! :D

I completely agree with Nit, everyone should all sub 4 toons and spend loads of money to win. Once everyone all has 4 toons subbed lets add more P2W elements. What I want to see in the game:

- buy a 100% boosting tool for money
- GM powers unlockable with payments
- Add a RL money only wheel with chances to unlock vorkoo as a mount, unlock jena as a character option and many more things!

Now we're getting somewhere!

Let's just make Ryzom Pay2Win like every other game!

I'd like to pay for every color of Marauder skirt that hasn't been released along with the things you guys have mentioned.

Also, what about paid armor and weapons that are 200% stats?

I'm all in lets do it!

Nobody remembers when the OP battles were actually organized. You can say they are now but this is the reason I don't play them anymore. It's boring. We had multi guilds in voice chat and it worked out. I think it's more fun to learn how to beat something rather than just play Post Malone, just saying. If people learned to have an open mind rather than just shoot things down because they don't agree with it, we wouldn't be where we're at. This "friendly" community refuses to have an actual debate and just passes judgement when they don't agree with someone. Good luck!!!!

I remember Mr. Bones ;)

If multiboxers want to have a go at anyone it really should be at fellow multiboxers who exploit and/or utilise multiboxing in a way which is against the ToC.

Most tickets about multiboxers are in relation to suspected botting.  Most complaints are in relation to multiboxers exploiting the current rules in a way which is by general consensus considered unfair.

Multiboxing is very common in Ryzom but not everyone who multiboxes brings their alts to an OP battle.  Some, however, do and some also bot.  It is the conduct of these partiuclar multiboxers that has led to an increasing number of tickets and complaints by a significant portion of the playerbase.

What really strikes me about this "compromise" is that we are being told that our hard work is being taken from us, not because we have done anything wrong but only because of complaints.

When the servers merged, we had all our stuff taken from us. After years of refusing to intervene with multiboxing, a 4 toon limit was imposed. And now after continuing to follow the rules we are being further restricted and the reason we are given?

"To save the soul of Ryzom".

This is clearly about OP battles, and the proposes changes are both directly and indirectly intended to intervene on behalf of a faction who seem to have some kind of direct input into decisions being made.

The use of alts in OP battle is just creating an unbalance.
But I do agreed with your post on a general matter.
It looks like it's a decision taken to please everyone without fixing anything and adding more work to the CSR team (how they will check that? if it's allowed to use more alts everywhere else?)

It really does suck that you out so much time into your toons and are being limited on them and I really do sypmathise. Personally I would take the "our" out of that and whilst it may apply to you it doesn't to others. Account sharing is not particularly hard work.

Oh yes us marauders totally have a direct input into Ryzom development! Thats why we have tons of marauder missions, including multiple ways to drop our fame without clicking a load of renounces. Also why we have marauder roleplay meetings, marauder pink OP mats and this amazing marauder teleport animation that has a zinukean pink animation with black smoke that curls around you as you teleport. Also the reason why we had a marauder new horizons with a cool marauder pick. Don't forget our amazing marauder occupations and our specific marauder encyclopedia rites - really glad we have those! Definitely sounds like we have a direct input into all of that :)
[Please note dev team this is not in anyway a dig at you, after all we are best buds apparently]

I totally get limiting it for OP battles. However, what I don't understand is banning multiple alts for so many other aspects of the game, thus reducing an already dwindling subscriber base.

If instead of spending the time and effort on a topic like this, they worked to fix an underlying problem of only a handful of OPs still being valuable, the game would be that much better off.

#299 [en]

I feel like presenting the option for self-appointed hall monitors to follow my friends and I around to make sure we dont engage in "forbidden activities" with our alts is only going to increase the propblem of weaponised support tickets.

Also while we are being followed around, screenshotted and otherwise harassed anyone can just log their friends accounts in for NPC hunts and OP battles and do whatever they want with nobody the wiser.

As far as compromises go this seems extremely harsh and ill-concieved.

I would accept for a compromise being limited to 2 accounts for OP battles, but why limit the rest of my game? My guild can still farm NPC bosses without 2 of my toons, and bosses? Who cares about bosses? I pretend to be asleep when people message me about bosses. Restricting gameplay outside of faction warfare will just encourage ongoing targeted harassment without solving any real problems.

We get it Beef. You grinded your alts. That is not the case with everyone who is using 4 toons though. Also, following the rules doesn't apply to everyone using 4 toons either, because it's pretty obvious, they aren't.

Let's all stop playing victim and maybe try to come to a proper solution.

The recently imposed change of 1 main + 1 alt for ops/bosses/w.e. doesn't really make any sense to me to be completely honest. Not only can it not really be enforced and will have loopholes, but it definitely does "stop people from playing Ryzom how they want." Here's why...

First off, the real challenge to bosses are finding them, NOT killing them. This also applies to npc bosses, even though they are of course easier to find since they only pop in one spot. PvE in this game is not a challenge, and I'm not saying this to demean Ryzom in any way, it is simply a fact. The only real issue is Outpost PvP battles, which decide which faction is the "strongest". The problem is the faction who brings out the most alts is deemed the strongest, so setting a couple macros on multiple toons and spamming 3 keys making you the "strongest" and/or "most skilled" is pretty silly.

In my honest opinion, the only way the issue gets resolved, is if there is a change in OP battles, ALONE. Anybody who has played long enough knows that alts are not a threat in any other aspect of the game. PvE... nobody cares what you do here, or they shouldn't, because in all reality having to use so many alts to kill a boss is utterly useless. Most bosses in the game can be killed with 2 total toons using proper methods. If I see anybody with that many alts or even a full team for a boss, it's actually laughable.

My proposed change is that Outpost Battles have a player cap. Simply make it so each side on the OP battle can only have a certain amount of toons tag up for either side. If outpost battles were limited to 30 vs 30 for example, it wouldn't matter who is using how many alts because the playing field will be guaranteed to be even. This will allow the most skilled and/or most organized faction to be the victor.

I believe the only problem in PvP in this game is in OP battle dynamics, as it's usually the faction who brings the most alts that wins. Yes, opposing factions can organize and and use certain tactics that make alt play uncomfortable, but the remaining fact is that 50 toons standing still and healing (whether alts or not) are very difficult to bring down with half the number of players who choose to not pay2win with alts. It's 100% certain that no faction in this game has 50 actual players showing up to wars, except in some unusual cases, like the beginning of a global pandemic.

I think the "attack" on players who like to use 4 toons to play this wonderful game we all love was incorrect and unfair, because the issues are from the game itself, not the playerbase, and I do believe making a change such as the one I've just proposed will not only allow Ryzom players to continue to play however they want, but also bring a new and interesting dynamic to OP battles and the power swings on Atys.

My proposed change will allow Kami, Karavan, Marauder, Neutral, Ranger players.. whatever your faction may be to BRING THE BEST IN YOUR FACTION TO THE WARS, be it someone with 4 toons or someone who excels with a single toon. Let's bring the real beauty of gaming to Atys, which is practicing your fighting methods and techniques to become better, as a player, as teams, and as factions.

edits were to highlight important parts :)

We can fill the CoC with more gems like this:

So what is "too long" to hold a minion? There is a disctinction between 2 toons holding a minion and 2 toons holding the boss directly? If 2 toons are trying to hold a minion the boss can not be stolen but if one player with 2 toons wants to hold Lixie until their entire faction arrives that can be done? I notice these questions were never answered.

So here we are in Ryzom, making increasingly convoluted rules that are open to be dissected by a team of lawyers and nobody really knows what they are allowed to be doing until they get banned for breaking a rule that is open to various interpretations.

Why? Because *some* people are complaining.

Before adding anything related to the "lock" into the CoC they should first fix it.

#303 [en]

I wish there was some way to make everyone happy. But I know realistically that just isn't going to happen. At this point we're just beating a dead horse. But perhaps some of these idea for Ops should be posted in the Ideas forum?

I will say though, that limiting the number of toons at an OP or not allowing new guild members (as was mentioned much earlier in this thread) makes me sad when I think about it. My first experience with PVP EVER was an OP battle. I was still a very young homin, hadn't even hit 125 in ele yet and was a pretty new Reaper, probably less than a month. Jayce and Sehraci got me to go. I died a lot but it was so much fun. After that I started tagging up and becoming active in the faction. I guess it was kinda a gateway drug ;) I don't know, I guess I just think it would be really sad to have to leave young homins out of something.
