Our game server and several other Ryzom services (billing service, test server, forum, API...) encountered an access problem because of too many connections opened on the database between April 12 around 1:00 UTC (3:00 CEST) and April 13 around 17:45 UTC (19:45 CEST), preventing any new connection on these services.
The reason for this large number of connections has not yet been identified: attack, looping script, service bug? We are investigating but would need the issue to come back to know more. So nothing new for the moment.
All services are now restored. The Wheels of Fortune should be back after next reboot.


[In progress] Recent billing access issue

Since Tuesday 17 April, Ryzom's billing service (secure.ryzom.com) has encountered technical problems making it inaccessible intermittently and at times for several hours.
After discovering that the problem was not on our side, we have contacted our host, OVH, who has found that a RAID disk as well as the controller needed to be changed. However, this procedure requires a complete reinstallation of the billing system, which means a longer inaccessibility of the service.
Also, in order to penalize as little as possible those who need to access the billing service, we preferred to act in two steps:

--> 1 - Change the damaged RAID disk and then resynchronize both RAID disks. This has just been done, we are making sure everything is in order and hope that the server will be up and running quickly.

--> 2 - Change the controller. We expect to take this opportunity to migrate the billing service to a newer, more secure and efficient server.

Part 1 is done so billing service is back. Part 2 is still to be done.





[In test] WebIG Comm tool


Because of the lack of comm in real time" to inform you during the recent two big issues (lags and billing), Ulukyn (Dev) is working on a new tool to make comm a lot easier and to reach the max of players. It's in test on Yubo.

First windows if for the main news.
Second window is the one to comm “in real time”: the infos written in Rocket #pub-announcements channel are automatically written in this WebIG window + is seen as ingame broadcast. We can use tag languages if we want.

So:
-If a player is on Rocket : he sees in real time the "urgent news/info" on #pub-announcements
-If the player is online, he sees it in real time to, via the broadcast.
-If the player logs later, he sees the news in the automatically spawned WebIG window when he arrives ingame.

Important: we talk about "instant comm", so "urgent comm", it does not need to be translated/proofread before to be posted, like official announcements on the forum.
Their goal is to inform you, the players, as quickly as possible. So do not be worried if it’s not translated, or automatically translated.

Last, the WebIG Comm Tool will also have an app for Event Team. Goal: inform the players about the ongoing event, how/where to join it, etc.

An official announcement will be published about this tool when it will be added on Atys.

[Fixed and improved] Ranger rite

For Player with a slow connection, the dev added 2 new modules to active/select in Map options:
--> Text mode: Display all entries and paths as a text, so no map will be loaded/displayed.
--> Static map: If a player has discovered all entries and all paths, the map will only load 1 time a static image that will never change.

Improvement: record in database when a player finishes Ranger Rite.

Fix: see in Admin Tools if a player has already finished the rite or if it’s the first time.

Improvement: Remove the check from map if the player is already into the Ranger Faction (sometimes the server is too much slow and so the map reads a false value and displays an error).

[RF] Formation of a unique "Ryzom" team, composed of members of Ryzom Forge and those under NDA


We are breaking another internal wall and mixing RF and NDA members inside the maximum of project workgroups (included projects started as NDA). The goal is to have only one big Ryzom Team. Of course RF can't access all (primitives, some datas, private Lore, event scenarios... are under NDA) but it does not avoid it to be part of almost all the current and future projects.

[RF] Opening of a Marketing Team


We just created a marketing team!It plans to work on several fronts:
-Content: creation of polls to allow us to better know our players and therefore better target potential future players, creation of e-books, trailers...
-Digital marketing: keyword research and optimization.
-Branding: redesign and improvement of the website, goodies...
-Events and press releases: writing and sending press releases, organizing and publishing interviews...

There's a lot to do, but for that we need help! Maybe you have your help if you want to help out!

[RF] Opening of a Game Design Team

The Game Design team designs and closely monitors the creation and implementation of gameplay content for Ryzom. It is the only one to validate or not the choices in terms of gameplay content. It will make sure that these choices are in accordance with Winch Gate's requests, the players' expectations, the CSR's concerns and in total respect with the Lore. It will regularly inform the other teams/groups of the decisions and they can comment, suggest or ask questions.

The Game Design Team imagines and designs (in a general way) but does not realize. The realization is the responsibility of Devs (client/server/primitives coding), Level Designers (specific design and scripting), Arkitectes (ARK coding) and Graphic Designers (2D/3D creation, etc.).

If you want to join this new team, apply! Ryzom needs you!
(It is not necessary to sign a NDA.)

[RF] Scheduling one RF meeting per week (instead of 2 by months) to have shorter ones? (your opinion?)

The decision is taken to stay to 2 meetings per month, with the possibility to insert a third one if necessary, as suggested by Depyraken.

New reward system & new rewards

First I'll talk about the new wheel of fortune.
Our goal in redoing the wheel was not just to add new items (although there are); Our primary goal is to create a unique reward that is easy to give and then reward players.
Indeed, the current wheel is very badly made, not motivating, boring etc... So it has been completely redone with completely new mechanisms, a token system with several qualities (basic, fine, xl, sup) and especially rewards that can be either items or effects, Everything is possible.

The main new features are:
  • Quality tokens;
  • The possibility to increase your chances by playing several tokens at once (max 5);
  • The possibility to play 10 games in 1 click.
  • A dilemma or sometimes you will have to choose between better quality tokens or prizes won.
We wanted the wheel to be fun to play (because we hope it will be used often), fun, (we try to avoid bots by offering a simple way to play several games) and motivating (prizes will be put into play each month).
I will say no more, I let you discover all this very soon.

Q: Tomorrow?
A: We make the announcement, we add rewards that have just been given to us and it will be good for the launch.

Q: what about the old event rewards and archievements ?
A: rewards and achievements will be retained.
Old events rewards (ghosts, Atys points) are not tokens. The tokens of the wheel are not Atys Points. events may reward players in Atys Points (another name will be found for these points) or in tokens of the wheel, depending on the type of event.
It will be possible to get tokens with Atys Points, but not the other way around.

"Nexus Reloaded" project

The following concerns the Game Design team freshly formed a few weeks ago.
We entrusted him with the task of working on the "Nexus Reloaded" project. This is a medium-term project that will restore interest in the area. First because there will be a camp of vile marauders very close and then because we will put back some lvl 200 sup (with a light different to what existed at the beginning)
We wanted to make the area interesting for players by giving it a larger PvP dimension.
Will have sup mats of each nation according to the season.

Q: It stays in PVP zone? And materials in different spots?
A: Full PVP. At the start we'll try half random, then fully random.
At the start we'll have spots and we'll mix the mats: where a season zun spawns on a spot, on other season could be sap.

Q: then the place there was zun amber could be another material spot?
R: Exactly!

However, adding extra and leaving the PVP zone will not be enough to make it THE conflict zone for all lovers of combat. That's why the GD team has made many proposals to add PVP gameplay. So much so that we had to sort them out and put several aside, all very interesting ideas.
The idea retained is that of the Drop Zones. We will make involving the players in 2 phases of playing. A long sentence where players will have to go periodically during short periods of games in the Nexus in order to make actions that will supply the Drop Zones of their choice with resources. Then a second phase, very short, when the players will have to recover these resources in order to gain points while the others will try to prevent them from them.
The idea of the two phases being to allow everyone to participate, either periodically, without forcing them to go there every day in the first place. And in a second time, as a punctual event, the motivated to go all to Nexus for an epic fight.
I can't say any more because the GD team is now working on the further design of each phase.

Ranger Gameplay

Validated changes:
1. Auto-opening on the ranger map (destination lists page) to the end of a tunnel, so the player has only to click on the chosen destination.
So the ranger does not need anymore to reopen and search between 2 paths, only to click on the map and go.
  • => (already added on Atys)
2. Add the save zones to tunnel ends.
3. Reduce the HP damage and remove the die option if Path is found
4. Fix the unequipable pvp neutral items.

Q: will Almati be the Ranger camp ?
A: at Almati there is a Ranger Camp where you find all Important Ranger npcs.

Q: what about TP ? or direct path to the camp ?
A: We will think about and i am sure we will found a solution.

Q: When one dies one could resurect at the entrance of the nearest path?
A: You will only die by search and discover the pathes for the first time and then you will rez at a nearest Portal.

I'm merging the wiki Forge + Lore with the Encyclopatys, and I'm trying to harmonize the 5 languages (template, presentation and categorization).
it's a long-term job and I won't be done tomorrow, but I'd be happy to see you bring it all back to life.

You can link to other languages, and at the bottom to any main portal of the Encyclopatys.
it's the same in FR, EN, ES, DE and RU.
We can merge Lore in a specific portal, Forge too (in game portal) and Chronicles.

Q: There are translation issues but i think work is in progress?
A: yes, very needed. I can speak a bit in EN and ES I can guess DE and Read RU, but those last is really too hard for me.

Lerwarr : Thanks it will be usefull for a new player like me.
Tamarea : Thanks to this work, the Lorists will finally be able to easily publish Lore's articles (in addition to validating current requests.) !
Zorroargh: One very important thing: Please if you want to create an account, make my life easier by quoting your name and/or your role in Ryzom. I am obliged to be "severe" to avoid any hacker or bots intrusion

Q: What kind of resources do you need? Translators? Lorists? Take screenshots of mobs / plants... ?
R Zorroargh: probably translators.
Come for your "pleasure". This should not be turned into an additional task. You will see that there are many things to do and improve. Everyone can find his pleasure: improve templates, patrol, make beautiful pictures, translate, proofread... etc...

Ayann:  I'd say, A nice resources would be some advertisement through an in-game panel, for example. this would allow people not here but interested to know about the effort.
Teanwen: Ulukyn may be able to do it, if he allow external link to ingame webig. security issues incoming.

Q: What language are the resources mainly in?
R Z :Tthere are >2000 articles FR ; >500 EN ; >100DE and <100 ES+RU (in memory ladle).

Q: So, a system like wikipedia, with languages on a side panel would not be bad? To know if already translated or not, and if so, raw or not? To see the software used afterwards.
A Z : When a page is written in another language (and I have patrolled) there are small buttons with flags on the top right. There is no automaton possible: you have to patrol... 

Q: What if there's only one lanque available, you only display one flag?
A: Yes. It attracts attention.

Compte-rendu de la réunion de Ryzom Forge - 6 août 2018

Ces derniers temps, j'ai travaillé d'arrache-pied sur le wiki avec plusieurs objectifs et je vais vous donner autant que possible un bref aperçu de ces missions et de leur avancées.
Premièrement, migration des données de Ryzom Forge et Ryzom Lore vers les wikis des cinq langues et Ryzom Commons. Le projet avance bien : j'ai fini de migrer les pages importantes comme les pages "Fyros". Ce travail est long mais pas trop difficile car les informations sont identiques à la source pour chaque langue. Ainsi "Forge" et "Lore" prennent peu à peu leur place dans le wiki global.
Mais là, j'ai une autre tâche. Pour ceux qui ne le savent pas, les trois wikis d'origine (DE, EN et FR) ont évolué chacun de leur côté. Je mets donc en place un système uniformisant les modèles et catégories en essayant de ne pas privilégier l'une ou l'autre langue et de ne pas altérer les données des utilisateurs anciens ou actuels. Je peux dire que nous arrivons à un statut que je pense assez opérationnel et accueillant pour tous : contributeurs et lecteurs.
Je pensais motiver les joueurs à y venir en faisant de ce wiki une extension RP. Je présentais ça comme une bibliothèque de chercheurs.
Voila pour mon résumé. Je remets le bâton de parole à Tamarea.

Q : Zorroargh, as-tu quelques pages à nous montrer ?

Oui. Voici quelques exemples.Comme vous pouvez le constater, il manque beaucoup de traductions, dans un sens comme dans l'autre.

Évènements HRP

Nous organiserons régulièrement de courts évènements HRP tout au long du mois d'août, à partir de dans quelques jours.
Exemples d'évènements HRP : cache-tampon, petit Roi.
Les récompenses pour participation seront de nouveaux jetons à utiliser dans la nouvelle Roue de la Fortune (qu'un patch ajoutera la semaine prochaine). Avec ces jetons, vous gagnerez peut-être l'un des fabuleux nouveaux lots !

Q : Qu'adviendra-t-il des jetons actuels ? Y aura-t-il moyen de les transformer en nouveaux jetons ? Pourrons-nous utiliser les jetons actuels avec la nouvelle Roue ?

Oui : le PNJ proposera la conversion des jetons, sans exiger de commission.

Q : S'il s'agit d'événements HRP, où les Maraudeurs tenteront-ils leur chance à la Roue ?
R :
Les Maraudeurs auront leur propre Roue.

Q : Tant que vous y êtes : pouvez-vous faire en sorte que le PNJ échange aussi nos points fantômes ?
R :
La plupart des points (Atys, Ghost, etc.) peuvent être utilisés pour acheter des jetons pour la Roue, mais ce n'est qu'une option parmi d'autres. Il est en effet prévu d'ajouter des PNJ dédiés à l'échange de points accumulés contre des lots (c'est pourquoi l'Équipe Dev a demandé qu'on cesse de distribuer des points jusqu'à ce que le système de récompenses fonctionne).

  • Nouvelle Roue de la Fortune (pour tous, y compris les Maraudeurs, dans leur Camp) ;
  • Nouveaux lots à gagner avec la Roue de la Fortune : nouvelle monture, nouveau compagnon, nouvelles peluches, perruques.
Les évènements HRP évoqués plus haut vont sans doute commencer avant le patch, donc essayez de faire le plein de jetons avant l'arrivée de la roue !

Équilibrage du jeu Ranger

Suite à vos retours sur la jouabilité actuelle du gameplay Ranger, nous sommes en train de procéder à son équilibrage. Celui-ci se fera très certainement en plusieurs fois : les modifications principales seront ajoutées lors du patch de la semaine prochaine, puis ajustées si nécessaire lors d'un patch suivant (qui pourra aussi contenir de nouvelles modifications en cas de besoin).
  • Zone de sécurité Ajout de « Zones de sécurité » aux extrémités des Voies des Rangers.
  • Dégâts Forte diminution du % de risque qu'un Ranger subisse des dégâts lorsqu'il emprunte une Voie connue et que sa carte est à jour. Si dégâts il y a, leur % est lui aussi fortement diminué, et basé sur les nombre de points de vie courant, non le maximal.
  • Accès au Bois d'Almati Le téléporteur karavan du Bois d'Almati vend désormais des pactes de téléportation aux Rangers.
  • Voyage sur Voies accéléré Le Ranger n'a plus besoin, pour poursuivre son chemin, de réactiver son ambre s'il reprend la Voie qu'il vient de quitter. De plus, sa carte s'ouvre automatiquement afin qu'il n'ait plus qu'à cliquer sur la destination suivante.
  • Mort sur une Voie Mourir en empruntant une Voie devient impossible si la Voie est connue et la carte à jour.
Bogues corrigés par le patch de la semaine prochaine :
  • Port d'équipement JcJ neutre de nouveau possible pour les Rangers.
  • Passage sur les Voies impossible si le Ranger est invulnérable, signalé JcJ, assis, en train de nager ou sur sa monture.
Demandes de joueurs à l'étude :
  • Possibilité pour les Rangers de ressusciter aux entrées des Voies.
  • Après celui opéré dans la Forêt Insaisissable, changement de position d'une Voie pour cause d'aggros dans la région du Vide.
  • Autres demandes non listées ici.

Correctifs et améliorations du jeu Maraudeur

  • Renommée de Maraudeur C'est le pré-requis pour les autres améliorations prévues : la renommée de Maraudeur s'affiche désormais dans la fenêtre Renommée et évolue automatiquement en fonction des renommées acquises auprès des diverses Civilisations et Puissances.
  • Accès au Bois d'Almati Un nouveau téléporteur Maraudeur est implanté dans le bois d'Almati.
Bogues corrigés par le patch de la semaine prochaine :
  • Téléportation impossible si le Maraudeur est invulnérable, assis ou en train de nager.
  • Correction du Rite Maraudeur (si terminée à temps)
Il reste encore beaucoup à faire pour le jeu Maraudeur, nous n'en sommes qu'au début. Nous avons une longue liste de points à valider, corriger, équilibrer, améliorer et je ferai régulièrement un point lors des réunions de Ryzom Forge de nos avancées sur le jeu Maraudeur (tout comme de celles sur le jeu Ranger).

Q : Vu que 40 Maraudeurs ont quitté le jeu cette année et que seuls 10 joueurs demeurent actifs dans cette Faction, ne pourrait-on commencer par quelque chose de moins décourageant que ces interdictions de TP ?

C'est un gros bogue qui donne un avantage technique et il se doit d'être corrigé. Donc il le sera.

Q : Ne pensez-vous pas que disposer de TP supplémentaires dans trois régions très contestées (Sources Interdites, Terres abandonnées et Porte des Vents) donne un avantage indû aux Maraudeurs ?

Aucune, mais un débat (sans conclusion) entre le porteur de la question et celui de la précédente.

Correction de bogues (exploitables ou non)

Corrections (et amélioration) apportées par le patch de la semaine prochaine :
  • Correction de plusieurs bogues exploitables.
  • L'installateur sous Linux ne renvoie plus l'erreur 0. Les installations existantes seront mises à jour automatiquement.
  • Naka (kiban nommé) apparaissait trop près de la tribu des Dryades. Son point d'apparition a donc été déplacé de 100 mètres.
  • Correction du plantage à l'ouverture de WebIG (Maj+W).
  • Défilement désormais correct des lignes d'une longue liste (au lieu du défilement de la barre) lors de l'action sur la molette de la souris.
  • Suppression de chevauchements divers dans certaines fenêtres de l'interface utilisateur (Renommée, Achat, Revente).
  • Correction du Crédit de l'auto-régénération de niveau 26. ATTENTION L'action d'auto-régénération de niveau 26 coûte désormais 260 crédits et non plus 250. Vos actions existantes rendues aujourd'hui impossibles de ce fait seront automatiquement supprimées lors de votre première connexion après le patch.
  • La mission « Partir vers la capitale » ne donne plus deux pactes de TP retour vers Silan. Un seul est désormais fourni lorsque la mission donnée par l'Hôte d'Accueil d'une capitale est remplie.
  • Beaucoup d'emotes disposent désormais d'une animation.

Clôture

Après le patch de la semaine prochaine, les autels Kamis et Karavan du Bois d'Almati vendront des pactes de téléportation à tous sauf aux Maraudeurs.
Ainsi, tous les joueurs auront un accès direct à Almati : les Neutres, Rangers et Karavaniers via l'autel Karavan, les Kamistes via l'autel Kamis, et les Maraudeurs via un Zinuakeen.
Il est déjà tard (21:43 UTC) donc je ne vais pas aborder le dernier sujet qui devait traiter des diverses améliorations apportées par le prochain patch... Mais vous les retrouverez sur la patchnote.
