Subject: Unlawful Arrest in the city of Pyr by some self-proclaimed Karavan Agent

Most venerated sharükos,

I want to bring to your attention an occurrence at 15h - Tria, Pluvia 21, 4. AZ 2593 during the investigations of the death of celiakos Abycus Zekops. While listening to informations given by imperial archivist Xinna Cekaps, we learnt that an arrest had taken place in Pyr. We hurried to the apartment of former celiakos Euracus Cethus and learnt that a person presenting herself as "Karavan Agent" had arrested him on charges to have conspired with Trytonists. The Karavan Agent accused him to have tried to disrupt the sharük on command of "the Trytonists". No evidence was presented backing that accusation,

I cannot deny that I am deeply shocked by that occurrence. Never before in the history of the living planet, even not during the cruel and long lasting temple wars, a representative of the cults has ever arrested any homin, and no homin has ever been detained for other than legaly approved elements of an offense.

Trytonism, meaning inclination or adherence to the words and writings of Elias Tryton, has never been an offense or crime in the sharük. Due to his relationship to the national hero Oflovak Rydon (whom we Rangers revere as the founder of our order), Elias Tryton enjoys a stable level of respect in the desert. The awful and widely unlawful brutalities and prosecutions of Trytonists in past generations never unfolded in the desert, in comparison to the excesses in other nations.

Much more the deliberate arrest of a fyros patriot in the middle of Pyr, by an alien religious force, is scandalous and an infringement of souvereignty and legislation of the Burning Desert. That the otherwise undoubtedly competent leader of the investigation, celiakos Xalis Perimenix, covered and defended that transgression, does not make anything better. Rather, celiakos Xalis should reflect the tolerance as a Karavan follower he is receiving here in the desert instead of defending intolerance and lawlessness of the nameless "Karavan Agent".

I am confident that sharükos will restore sovereignty and honor of the sharük and reverse these infringements. I hope that the superiors of the suspicious Karavan Agent will take action and reverse this transgression. I am all for harmony between all creeds as well as agnostics and hope for a peaceful solution.

HRP : Il serait intéressant de recréer un fil reprenant tous les textes roleplay de cette séquence, afin d'avoir une continuité dans l'histoire. Aussi n'hésitez pas à déplacer mon post :)

Assise à son bureau, la tête entre les mains, Mermaidia tentait de rassembler les morceaux du puzzle.
C’est bien simple : aucune piste !
Elle parcourut à nouveau les quelques notes qu’elle avait prises.
Juste cette liste, sortie d’on-ne-sait-où, accusant des patriotes de trytonnisme, et alors ? Quel rapport avec l’affaire en cours ? A ce jour, seul le sénateur Xalix Perimenix semblait y attacher de l’importance…

Déjà deux assassinats et le second concernait un élément clef de cette affaire, cela devait bien arrangeait quelqu’un, reste à savoir qui !

Ce soir, Xalis avait eu besoin d’assistants, était-ce une tactique pour s’attirer la bienveillance des patriotes en leur donnant de l’importance ou bien une manière pour lui d’asseoir son sentiment de supériorité ? Ah ça oui ! Son égo avait besoin d’être flatté ! Il avait besoin de se sentir seul maître à bord en dirigeant les autres à la baguette ! Peut-être qu’il se sentirait mieux dans les bottes d’un sharükos que dans celles d’un sénateur ! Mermaidia sourit à cette pensée.
Sa condescendance ne trompait que lui, en fait il faisait peine à voir et tous s’accordaient sur ce point. Et pourtant, il faudrait composer avec…
Alors, ce soir, elle avait serré les poings et fait bonne figure. Malgré tout, elle avait accepté ce rôle de sous-fifre en se disant que cela permettrait peut-être de faire avancer l’affaire.
Et ce soir encore le comportement de Xalis avait été déplorable et les seuls témoins présents depuis le début de ce simulacre de procès qui n’en sont même pas vraiment, ils n’ont rien vu. Des homines éplorées, un vieillard… Que peut-on en espérer ?

Au final, pas l’ombre d’une piste sérieuse, pas l’ombre d’une piste tout court ! Elle frappa du poing sur son bureau et balaya les documents épars d’un revers de main.

Elle se leva et commença à faire les cents pas.

Comment cela est-il possible ?
Les bureaux des sénateurs se situent sur la Place des Académies, si proches du Corps de Gardes… Le moindre élément suspect aurait dû être signalé !
Et si… Et si justement il n’y avait rien de suspect ?
Un meurtrier habitué des lieux capable de rester impassible, de garder son sang-froid après un tel acte aurait pu passer complétement inaperçu.
La seule solution envisageable serait d’interroger les gardes, il doit bien exister un registre d’entrée et de sortie !

Xalis souhaite connaître nos interrogations par avance, une manière pour lui de préparer sa riposte ? Ou d’éluder les questions embarrassantes ? Certainement les deux !

Pour Thulam, il faudrait orienter les recherches du côté des gardes en faction aux Tours Frahars. Ils sont si proches du lieu où nous l’avons trouvé… C’est impossible qu’ils n’aient rien entendu eux non plus !

Elle soupira : A qui faire confiance ?
Le seul qui pourrait aider serait Graphybus, il semble ne pas apprécier beaucoup Xalis lui aussi, c’est une piste à suivre mais pas ouvertement.

Mermaidia se rassit prestement à son bureau, déroulant un tas de parchemins vierges.
De sa plume elle adressa un courrier à Abytheus Apocaps, Chef des gardes de Pyr en lui demandant la plus grande des discrétions. Puis un second à Cekos Lyseus, patrouilleuse aux Tours Frahars, en supposant qu’elle devait bien être au courant de tout ce qu’il se passait et de tous les ragots des gardes impériaux en faction là-bas. D’homine à homine… Ils doivent bien chercher à tuer le temps avec elle !
Le troisième, elle l’adressa à Graphybus Ceros, certaine qu’il n’avait pas tout dit lors de son « interrogatoire » et elle espérait qu’il lui serait possible de rencontrer un groupe de patriotes dans un endroit reculé, cela s’était déjà vu.
Elle sourit en reposant sa plume et siffla Idea qui arrivait déjà en remuant la queue, trop heureuse de pouvoir reprendre son rôle de messagère.

HRP - même remarque que Mermaidia, je me permets de poster ça ici afin de ne pas submerger le forum de nouveaux posts :) -

Assise devant sa bière au bar de Thesos, Eeri retournait le problème dans tous les sens.
Depuis son retour vers le sharük, qui avait étrangement coïncidé, à quelques jours près, avec la mort d’Abycus puis la découverte du corps de Thulam, tout semblait marcher de travers.

De passage à Yrkanis il y a encore quelques jours, Eeri s’était faite jeter du palais royal ou un Stevano à la coiffe toujours aussi ridiculement montée nommait visiblement une nouvelle ambassadrice du peuble Zoraï devant un parterre de pâles et maigres sujets.
Elle se rendait chez les matis en profitant de l’image qu’elle avait encore, en tant qu’ancienne membre des larme, et l’information de son retour parmi les patriotes du sharük n’avait sans doute pas encore été ébruitée chez les sujets. Pour autant, un garde royal sans doute mieux informé lui demanda sèchement de sortir, la lance à la main.

sharükos, lui, était toujours aussi absent malgré la gravité que prenait les évènements. Xalis Perimenix tolérait la présence de matis alors que sont débattus des sujets d’importance capitale. Fallait-il que l’on nomme de nouveaux ambassadeurs, qu’on discute de la décoration du palais, ou qu’on organise un shooki-dansant* pour avoir l’honneur que Lykos daigne sortir de son palais?

D’ailleurs, et ça n’avait pas échappé aux autres patriotes, Eeri ne pouvait pas supporter Xalis. Le nouveau celiakos, non content d’être très désagréable avec les homines en particulier, n’arrivait pas à leur inspirer confiance. Quelque chose ne tournait pas rond.
Non seulement sa façon de traiter l’ancien celiakos Euracus, en profitant de son état de fatigue (n’importe quel patriote aurait sorti sa retch et lui aurait planté en travers de la figure à se voir traiter de la sorte) mais aussi sa façon d’ignorer les patriotes présents, en ne leur offrant qu’un silence arrogant et méprisant.
Eeri pensait, depuis qu’elle l’avait vu pour la première fois : « ce delekos cache quelque chose ». En définitive, Xalis leur demandait de participer à l’enquête, mais dénigrait la moindre de leurs interventions. Elle décida donc de débuter une enquête en parallèle sur le celiakos.

Xalis, nommé par Lykos en remplacement de Mephyros presque 25 années de Jena auparavant, avait su jusque là se montrer discret... Trop discret, pensait-elle.

Elle prit la direction de l’académie de pyr, afin de consulter les archives. Elle annonça avec un air nostalgique au vieux gardien fyros, toujours le même depuis ces années, qu’elle voulait relire des passages de l’histoire de Dexton, ce qui touchait à la politique fyros depuis les années 2490. Le vieux fyros lui indiqua la salle et les registres, et repartit à ses occupations.

Ce soir les fyros s’étaient donné rendez-vous au bar et la liqueur de Pecus coulait autant que les cœurs et les esprits s’ouvraient.
Ce cercle était l’un des rares en lesquels Mermaidia se sentait encore en confiance. Nul poing serré ou mâchoire crispée, l’ambiance était détendue et les langues déliées.

Eeri leur annonçait qu’elle avait pu obtenir des informations en fouinant dans les archives de l’Académie de Pyr sous couvert de recherches historiques sur Dexton. Et, devant les piles de documents, au fil des tournées et des interventions de chacun, quelques plans s’échafaudaient peu à peu.
Il était question de recontacter certains sénateurs ou leurs secrétaires, de manigances et même bientôt d’un enlèvement…
Quel dommage de devoir en passer par la fourberie pour atteindre la Vérité, pensait Mermaidia à ce moment-là. Et pourtant, elle n’avait pas meilleure proposition à faire et ses courriers restaient sans réponse.
Azazor la rassura en lui disant que ça n’était rien de méchant et que pour beaucoup cela passerait pour une vengeance potache.

Après tout, l’Empire lui-même semblait faire barrage à cette Vérité. Entre faux-semblants, omission, travestissement et instrumentalisation, ne convenait-il pas d’user des mêmes armes ?

Facts about Abycus Zekops

Functions: celiakos and Imperial adviser of sharükos. Former celiakos of Thesos.
Political enemies: one of the main detractors of Atreus and its supporters.
Privacy: Lover of Dios Apotheps and father of Lyandra Apotheps
Age at death: 124 years old.
Place of death: in his office at the Imperial Palace.
Date of death: Frutor 21 evening, 2nd AC 2593.
Cause of death: broken neck likely due to a fall during an altercation (disordered office).

Alleged murderer: Thulam Cekaps.
Possible motives for the crime: On the basis of Thulam's letter to Dios, and the evidence found in ThulamCekaps (half-burnt letter), the fall and death of Abycus Zekops would have been involuntary. An altercation occurred between Thulam and Abycus, who refused to believe that the former had found his daughter Lyandra at the request of Dios Apotheps.If one considers the list of alleged trytonists apparently written by Abycus Zekops and found in approximately the same place as Thulam's sword, he could have attacked Abycus Zekops when he learned that Xinna was being watched and could be accused of trytonism, possibly prosecuted by the Kuilde. Facts about Thulam Cekaps

Functions: Former lieutenant of the Burned Faces. sharükos Lykos withdrew his title after the Atreus case.

Secret activity: Hired secretly by Dios Apotheps to find his daughter Lyandra Apotheps, kidnapped in 2551.
Place of death: Unknown.
Date of death: Approximately Frutor 18,2nd AC 2593.

He wrote a letter to his sister Xinna Cekaps before burning it. The imperial authorities were able to recover the unburned part:" Little sister, I was not there for you recently but this will be over soon. I'm going to meet Abycus Zekops tonight. I owe him the truth..."
He left a letter for Dios Apotheps, accusing himself of the accidental death of Abycus Zekops: he had gone to his office to tell him the truth, but Abycus did not believe him and assaulted him. He pushed him to defend himself, but Abycus took a bad fall and died. He also says he has found Lyandra, who is a prisoner of the Renegades, and is asking for reinforcements to go and rescue her. Without the rapid arrival of these reinforcements, he will go to deliver her alone, then go to Justice.
He probably stole one of Abycus Zekops’ working papers, listing supposed trytonists, including his sister Xinna Cekaps. The document was found by a Frahar Hunters’ patrol boat, flying upwind near where Thulam Cekaps was found dead. His sword was also found in the sawdust not far from where he died.

Icandix Plecaon (doctor of Lykos, having autopsied the bodies of Thulam Cekaps and Abycus Zekops:
Abycus Zekops:
Date of death: Frutor 21 evening, 2nd CA 2593.
Crime weapon: unknown. Assumptions: broken neck. No trace of toxin, no external injuries other than what we might expect after a fall, no suspicious traces.
Thulam Cekaps:
Date of death: prior to Fructor 20,2nd CA 2593 (absence of rigor mortis), therefore prior to the death of Abycus which took place on the evening of Frutor 21,2nd CA 2593.
Place of death: Findings made at the time of discovery of the body (no traces of blood on the ground) suggest that he did not die there. Findings not confirmed by the doctor who was not present.
Physician's observations: Various impacts of thrown and melee weapons. Presence of blood in Thulam's eyes, nose, ears and mouth, as if he had bled profusely from these openings at the time of death. One of the eyes is swollen as if it had received a very violent blow.
Crime weapon: thrown and melee weapons compatible with those used by the Renegades.

Mention the officials who were interviewed by Xalis Perimenix in his presence during the first days of the investigation, including three of them:
-Xinna Cekaps, an official of Pyr.
-Krinn Xagrian a retired civil servant from Pyr, deaf and losing his sanity.
-Zemodon Peton, a servant of the palace, whom she knew by sight because he had previously worked in Thesos, having asked for his transfer to the palace shortly after Abycus was appointed Councillor and returned to Pyr.

Brainstorming:

Eeri recalls that Lopyrech died poisonous and wonders if there could have a link with the current affair.

Naveruss and Azazor noticed that Thulam Cekaps was dead before Abycus Zekops. Both came to the conclusion that Thulam Cekaps could not have killed Abycus Zekops.
Azazor and Eeri find that Xalis Perimenix was a little too quick to accuse Thulam Cekaps and to ignore what could have exonerated him.
Lykos confirms and adds that Thulam Cekaps did not die where he has been found.
Azazor says that Lydix spoke about a wagon. Eeri searched but never found it. Azazor wonders if this wagon could not have been used to transport the corpse of Thulam Cekaps. Lykos agrees that this trail should not be neglected. Naveruss adds that the wagon came from the Forest, according to Lydix.
Mermaidia would like to resume all these elements on another day to continue the planned interrogations. She reiterates that she would prefer to continue the investigation in a closed-door session. Lykos agrees.

Installé au bar de lydix, naveruss résumait l’enquête à l’aide d’un cube d’ambre. :

Il y a le celiakos abycus zekops, amant de dios et père de lyandra.
C’était également l’ami de graphybus ceros, qui avait nommé plusieurs de ses opposants, dont euracus cethus,suspecté d’être trytoniste et qui aurait quitté le sharük.

Il y a aussi le celiakos xalis, ainsi que l’officier thulam, frère de xinna.

Tout commence lorsque lyandra disparaît, dios demanda alors à thulam de la retrouver, et ce dernier lui faisait part de ses recherches par lettre.
Mais un jour, abycus est retrouvé mort, la nuque brisé dans son bureau, des traces de lutte étant présentes.
On retrouve par la suite une lettre de la main de thulam, dans laquelle il avoue à dios avoir tué par accident abycus après lui avoir annoncé qu’il avait retrouvé lyandra dans le camp des renégats.
Mais thulam est également retrouvé mort dans le désert, couvert de blessures brutales. Puis on retrouve plus tard son épée, avec une liste de trytoniste, dont sa sœur : xinna.
Tout semble accuser thulam, mais on constate plusieurs choses : c’est n’est pas son écriture sur la lettre d’aveux, il ne l’a donc pas écrite, et qui plus est, les autopsies révèlent qu’il est mort avant abycus !
Auparavant, lydix (source fiable) avait fait allusion à un chariot matis qui empestait la mort.
On peut donc conclure que thulam a très probablement été déplacé avec ce chariot, et que quelqu’un cherchait à le faire accusé, et il est tout aussi probable que son épée ait été déplacé et disposé avec la liste accusant sa sœur de trytonisme, avec de lui donner un « mobile ».
Mais un fait intéressant est arrivé par la suite : on a appris qu’abycus avec un sosie, son serviteur zenodon, qui avait l’habitude de se faire passer pour le celiakos, une sorte de jeu entre ces deux-là, mais il est mort en tombant d’un escalier alors qu’on voulait l’interroger.
Il est à noter que ce fut xalis qui a en premier été chargé d’enquéter, et son incompétence a été critiqué par tous, y compris sharükos !!

Plusieurs questions sont à élucider :
Qui a tué abycus et pourquoi ?
Qui a tué thulam, puis déplacé son corps ? Et pourquoi ?
La cible première de ces meurtres était abycus, et thulam un dommage collatéral pour cacher l’assassin ? Ou l’inverse ?
Est-ce que ce fut abycus ou zenodon qui a été tué en premier ?
Est-ce que xalis est mêlé à ces assassinats ? Et les matis (bien sûr que oui !) ?
Et la karavan dans tout ça ? Et pourquoi aucune résurrection ?
Et tiens, depuis quand lyandra était chez les renégats ? Et pourquoi ou comment ?
