The idea would make it take less effort to sell goods back at camp :) teleport only goes one way. That kind of makes people resort to death porting a habit that builds up dp and takes away from game play.
I think it would be good to make a hawker that would travel in Kitin jungle so the long walk back and forth can be less wasteful I hear people talking about this a lot . if you like this idea please share it:)

The money gained by grinding in Silan isn't that important compared to the money gained from quests so the money you would get from a hawker there is almost trivial and would encourage people to grind in one spot and get bored.

But .. I do know the feeling of 'I wish something would kill me so I don't have to walk from kitin Jungle back to the village'

I think the four major races should have emmisaries spread around (including in the Kitin jungle) to accept any donations of mats so they can build new defensive structures and outposts before the coming Kitin Swarm. I suspect there will be losses during the swarm so we should build now.

We seem to have little time to prepare.

its more than that. If there was a hawker your goods would be made availible in silan ranger camp more goods for sale less homins need depend on the npc goods which lets face it are sky high. New players who love to craft but aren't comfortable enough to PVE are more likely to get fusterated and quit because its to diffcult to collect mats. Please think about that when you vote

It sounds really good, since if there's a hawker in the jungle you can live there and sell your crafted stuff. This way you always provide good equipment while not boring yourself to death walking back to the camp or getting extra dp death porting.

Apparently, you don't really know what you're talking about.
1. you cannot take items back from a hawker, you need to go back to a regular merchant of the same country to do so, therefore you cannot live there ;
2. on Silan, the crafted stuff is worth nothing excepted for jewels. Fun fact : you can only craft q50 jewels buying mats from the merchant.


And by the way, as far as I know it doesn't make any sense to add any NPC within the kitin's jungle. If you're supposed to discover it during the missions, why would it be already known to any other homin? And why would someone come here to sell stuff?

Seriously, I believe this suggestion has been made in the sole intend as an to answer to the laziness of some people playing an alt on Silan. I think there is many more importants things to do before.

I'm not lazy and as for living in silan I'm living here so I can help new players... Tenma's comment made sense and I liked it. My idea was to get mats for the new players . I see value in having a npc because it can be discovered as part of a mission just because its there doesn't mean it wont be discovered by the kitin quest. that makes no sense. like saying events are useless cause they drop catilizers makes people too lazy to level normal . Statements like this only serve to cause people not to see the value that can come from innovating ideas you can be a critic if you want to be but don't down play something by saying it has no value. As for money I'm always broke lucky to have 0 to less then 3000 at most which I spend on gear for new players. I think that people will understand this post better if they actually were able to see what was typed in uni.
Your items get sold in silan by the hawker theres no need to take them back.

I am not clear how this works. Can you explain it a bit more?
Is the hawker in Silan's jungle or mainland jungle?

The idea of additional NPC is not bad, specially about trading and transactions around resources.

How about that Silan trader can have mainland items in their inventory?

We could craft Q50-ish items, sell it to shops on mainland.
Items below certain Q, say 50, would show up in the Silan trader's available items. This would be automagic. Show-up would depend on Q.
Dapper costs would have to be fraction, but the idea to entice newcomers for the variety of things we can craft would be neat...
It would also open up a new income venue for newcomers to mainland. There are few on mainland who are interested in your Q45 axe, but on Silan, that would be very welcome!

That could also build generational relationships...

Over the years, I've heard a lot of new players that were intimidated upon hearing that Mainland is roughly 35 times the size of Silan. While most have those fears mitigated upon hearing that there is a teleport system, a few just left Atys never to return for fear of having to run everywhere. Why not get them used to the TP system while still on Silan?

Of course, since new players are not yet familiar with the factions nor do they have opportunity to raise their fame levels, both should be accessible to neutrals. And since dappers are harder to come by on Silan, the prices should be reduced; maybe 100 dappers.

IMO, improved transportation would be better than a hawker. You could do both, but if I had to choose just one then I'd saw activate TPs instead.

With the F2P, newbies can move to the Mainland and learn more of what the rest of Atys is like, instead of helping them camp an area to dig and craft. Making it easier to camp out in Silan defeats the purpose of the starter area.

Jewels are not necessary for Silan, but will be an integral part of your armor set on the ML. Lots of crafters on the ML are willing to make any equipment for newbies, and most don't charge for the service.

Learning the mechanics of the game is what Silan is focused on. How players dig and craft is a personal preference and should be left on the ML where there are more choices on how one would develop a routine to accomplish this. If you are grinding on Silan, move to the ML, it is easier to level and more and better mats are available. Adding more stuff to Silan that are a lot easier to explain on the ML, would make the starter area a longer stay. Stick to the basics and move to the ML.

I like the idea of activating the teleporters. Gives them an idea of how those work, and helps alleviate the run back to camp. They already have cult missions, once completed, they could freely use the teleporters. I think 10 dappers would be better, help with the learning curve.

Keep Silan as the learning area, there is a lot to learn already. It is harder to explain things like range, mounts, and packers when they are not available to use first hand.

The problem with the hawkers, as far as I understood the code, is that they are linked to the four mainland continents. Material sold to a hawker in the Desert can be bought at every merchant in the Desert and so on. That's why hawkers in Nexus do not work: if you sell materials to them, you get your few dappers, but the materials are gone, even when put on resale. Same, I fear, would happen with hawkers on Silan, recently.

I fear it would take a major reprogramming of the hawkers' part of the code, not just putting one or two hawkers there and let them wander. Otherwise, your materials would possibly vanish like in Nexus which would not make you happy.

Karavan cannot do anywhere to camp; it's one way from the camp. Was that a typo?

While camp-to-lake for the Kamis would be nice, I still strongly favor making both the Kami and Karavan points full-fledged, two-way TPs for reasons previously stated.
