1. The good news is the patch didn't trash my single folder installation.

2. The bad news is I am set to launch from:

ryzom_configuration_qt_r.exe

rather than:

ryzom_client_r.exe

a) Because as of the last patch the normal launch method produced an error wile the config option did not.

b) The patches always reset the playing resolution to 1024 x 768, whereas launching with the config file, allows me to launch at my desired resolution without having to put all my windows back where they belong.

3. Can we get it so that when patches or crashes occur, the system remembers our desired resolution ? I remember, or at least i think I do, that in the 32 bit version we could edit a config file and set this to whatever resolution we wanted.

Shorter solution to the "Patch Screws Up my GUI" problem:

1. Change your launch icon target from ryzom_client_r.exe to"

ryzom_configuration_qt_r.exe

2. Launch using the abpove exe file and just hit "Play Ryzom" Bottom if you don't want to make any changes or Click on "Display" to make sure set to desired resolution. I use 1900 x 1000 windowed, leaving me 80 pixels of free space for utilities at bottom of screen.

3.  When a patch occurs, and it tells you to relaunch, screen resolution will be reset to 1024 x 768; let start up proceed to character selction screen and hit the Red X to close the game.

4.  Repeat step 2 above, changing the resolution to your preference, then hit "Apply" and "Play Ryzom" and all will be right when you arrive on Atys.

FF, what operating system are you on?

I, too, do single folder installations (two of them) and I have had no problems with resolution reset at all, as in never. One of my installations goes to full-screen and the other goes to windowed mode and neither of them gets messed around with.

My shortcuts all reference ryzom_client_r.exe.

I am normally in Windows 10, but I do have a Linux setup (also single folder) that has been patched many times without problems. Both systems have NVIDIA graphics.

I am not trying to minimize your problem -- I would be irritated at the symptoms you describe -- but I don't understand why you have it and many other people don't.

I'm on Win 7 Pro for all boxes.  After patch, it falls back to a default resolution.  If you usae that default resolution then you won't see the behavior.  It's a known issue; there was a patch yesterday / today ... and unless it was an April Fool's joke, it's been fixed.  See 1st item below.

I commented because I *don't* use the default resolution, and I never had the problem even when I was on Win 7.

Well, I hope the patch worked!

You play full screen ? That could be why, no matter what the post patch resolution, it would display full screen.

I can't remember a time when this wasn't a problem and yes the patch fixed it.

and unless it was an April Fool's joke

Given the ones about hominas losing their clothes and the okidoki one, I'd say at least part of it was a joke.

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.
