IDEAS FOR RYZOM

#1 [en]

Original title was: Allow all subbed accounts to ignore New Horizons condition

New title is: Make NH 24hr turn-in a true daily (not limited by others)

Original post is:
Regardless of if new horizons needs products or not, allow all subbed accounts to turn in (keeping the 24 hour timer)

This makes the mission a true daily as per more mainstream MMOs. Something that you do once per day, with a reward, that requires work, that doesn't restrict you because of other people.

This should be easy enough and should be implemented

Based on feedback, I have these Additions:
I just want the 24hr timer on nh turn ins to always work regardless of the level of fulness, because let's be honest, the supply is high and the demand is low, but the "daily" requires (often) emptying NH on purpose before you can hand in. Make it a generic daily, I don't care about "natural decay" I just want it to work always. The suggestion is to allow always-working for subbed accounts. Add whatever RP you want to that, that's your call.

Gameplay matters, not just story, features matter, features that work and benefit the player. NH turn in is a beneficial feature, it makes the player feel like they are winning, don't just tell me "you can just craft for money" or "it's only 2 minutes a week of time wasted" This is simply submitting to the problem.

Other ideas proposed during thread:
1) Natural decay, hunger of mektoubs, new horizons empties itself - Fateciy
2) Mektoub pass "giving subbed players a Mektoub Pass that saves us the hassle of buying individual TPs" - Gidget

NH is mostly a good option for new players to make money, and for f2p, since subbed players can much easier make money with crafting missions... so i don't think doing that just for subbed accounts is a good idea.

Non subbed accouts can still go through the process of clearing up new horizons by using it 8 times

We are already doing this, both subbed and unsubbed right now

The reason for proposing it this way is to discourage someone using 15 alts with a 100% turn in rate but if you're subbed, sure, 100% for you

The main reason I use new horizons is sap crystals

Dappers are better from crafting missions later but there is currently no better way to get sap crystals

There are other ways to get Fame points to spend. One of the ones I like is doing the supply runs to the Kitin Observation Posts on your mount.

Doing missions for the Corporals also gives you Fame points, iirc.

That used to be true, but I think something changed. When I did one the other night, I got fewer points for the entire run than I used to for just the first couple of stops alone.

I see three posts about why things could be left as they are.
I'm not disputing these posts, I simply ask...

Is there any solid reason not to allow this one-time-per-24hrs without limitations , to anyone subbed? (keeping in mind it will deter unsubbed spam)

This is likely to keep paid customers more fulfilled.
Just my 2 dappers - make it a real true (perhaps even generic) daily

I dispute this statement. The occupations are grindness of the grindiest kind. They are not fulfilling in the least.

All the more reason to give subbed accounts an added incentive. I don't see a problem with giving rewards to the people who are paying; all the more reason to sub then and subs are what keep this game alive.

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

I rarely have to wear NH down to turn in my water, and the couple of times a week that I do have to take me about a minute. At worst, it's a very minor inconvenience that happens only occasionally.

Furthermore, it won't put an end to alt-spamming NH. They will still do what they've been doing for years, and those who have managed to do turnins without any hassle anyways will likewise do what we've done for years and thus see no net change.

If you want to give subbed players something that feels like a perk, give us something USEFUL, or at the very least something that mitigates/eliminates an actual problem. I don't like having a bag full of TPs at 0.2 bulk each, so how about giving subbed players a Mektoub Pass that saves us the hassle of buying individual TPs? Anyone who has ever been in a rush and forgot to replace a just-used TP and had to trek for a replacement would get a lot more use out of that than out of getting out ot two minutes a week worth of clicking.

Wow it almost sounds like my "minor inconvenience" isn't an "actual problem"

Guess what, I don't disagree that other things need fixing, I'm just proposing this one is fixed. I refuse to empty new horizons by using it 8 times, I used to do it every day and it became too soul crushing for me

If I want a job.. I'll go to work, not play ryzom's new horizons minigame

I never said it would stop alt spamming, in fact I said it would just make sure they don't get 100% chances.

Your very annoyed,

You are entitled to your own opinions, and I have no problem with you putting this on the list. But I also see larger issues that could be solved about as simply that I feel should take precedence; problems that, unlike NH turnins, have no quick workaround. And since my NH turnins have a much higher success rate than your's seem to (I can't remember the last time I had to wear NH down), I see it as an even lower priority simply because it's a problem that comes up for me so rarely.

There is also one thing you overlook. By allowing subbed players to overflow NH, you make it practically unusable to F2P period unless there are other changes. If NH is at 79,810/3,000 then subbed players will be the only ones able to turn in except for a few minutes after each server reset. I'm not a fan of that sort of content locking, even if it's unintentional. Subbed players already have plenty of advantages over F2P without adding that sort of thing.

Of course, we could remove the NH limit of 3k products altogether and make it a moot point....

My own thoughts on NH, maybe not directly linked to this thread, I think it should wear down over time, Just because the Meks are in the stable doesn't mean they don't need food and water. Maybe a set amount per hour like 50 just to throw out a number.

I like that idea. And I'm sure the thirsty, starving meks in the stables waiting to be taken for a ride would like it too.

Now *this* is an interesting idea. It's not working on an artificial division of paid vs non-paid, but it does, with strong RP background, solve (at least potentially) the problem.

+1 (I'd give it +3, but that would over load the Meks. :D )

I don't have a problem with giving paid players a benefit (We already have several, but more is nice.) What I'm saying is that *this proposal* is NOT a benefit in my opinioin.

I prefer Gidgets Mektoub Pass (Though there would have to be two because there is absolutely no reason why the Kami and Kara would recognize the same pass).
