I feel the need to add some more about my opinion.
Raising the cap is a bad idea. Why?

Well, let's do some general consideration:

1. New players already have a long path in front of them. Having the masters at 250 or 300 doesn't make any big difference. If they enjoy the game with a 250 goal, it will be the same with a 300 goal.

2. Raising the cap is something that will impact only the old players, good or bad depending by their feelings.

3. Raising the cap doesn't means just change a value in a database. It would means: new titles, new regions, new animals with higher level, new nameds, new bosses., new missions. That's a bunch of work that would require a lot of people working on it. Considering also the scripted AI, I don't see it something easy to do. Unless you want a region similar to Almati Wood. With Ring any player can make a better one.

I'm not against raising caps by principle. It is generally a good idea in quest driven MMO, but Ryzom is not this kind of MMO.

Ryzom is a sandbox MMO, one of the few true sandbox around.
My opinion is that devs should make this point stronger adding, as said, more sand in the box.
Most players that love the game, don't really care of the level caps. In fact the game is really enjoyed if you don't care to rush to masters, and participate to the life on Atys, with your own activities and with the events.
Give us more activities, more crafting plans, more storage..... all this only gainable doing something with races, tribes and factions. Make the tribe fame more meaningful adding to them special merchants, give the opportunity to dig mektoub food. Give us a special quest to gain special tickets that works if mounted (not with packers tho). Put tribes NPC using mounts and put wooded caravans going around.....
There are a lot of things that can be done, that are, actually, much better than raising the caps. And, probably, even easier to do.

You may be right, Gilgameesh. Raising the level cap without adding new regions is pointless (I pointed out as much, was I guess overlooked by some).
I too would like to see more interaction with tribes, including the wandering tribes.

I'd also like to see much more of the original concept developed.
Player buildable outposts, outpost upkeep/maintenance, doing away with all pvp except concentual duels (yes, Norb, that's to tease you but it's in the manual, outpost wars are not).
Simply put, return Ryzom to the original idea of homins working together to make Atys a better place for all.

Regular large scale kitin invasions might be a part of that, if tailored such that players at all levels can have a part in it (so no lvl250+ kinreys in lvl50 zones preventing low level players from even leaving town).

Raising the level cap wouldn't be necessary. i guess they would only raise the cap because of new skills. The skill points are already there to purchase new skills. Instead of grinding another 50 levels in each skill there could be something else we could do to earn the right to spend the points on new skills. Something to stop us just buying the new skills as soon as they are added. A new rite per skill or something and each new skill is 500sp, maybe even prerequisites for certain skills, like mastering everything in the branch.

I think it is too many skills and too many years along for the devs to raise the cap. There is plenty of grinding and sp for most players if you actually get to the point where you cant grind anymore and still think raising the cap is a good thing i would take my hat off to you, im near that time myself and think it is a cheap solution and offensive to old "achieve" style players that this would mostly apply to..

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, you gain strength.
Through strength, you gain power.
Through power, you gain victory.
Through victory, your chains are broken.

Another change to bring things much closer to hardcore pvp games wouid be permadeath if you're killed while tagged (make it so only pressing the faction tag causes it).

Works quite easy: if you're tagged, and get killed by another tagged player, your toon is deleted and everything it owned with it.

Some mmos have item malls where you can buy (at a high price of course) a restore option. Would mean extra income for the devs :)

Would make a lot of people very happy, both to see their enemies gone and to have the extra thrill of really fighting to the death.

That is stupidly barbaric and utterly stupid. lol. TI would be the only people left in game lmao. Its no fun unless you have someone to have these silly fights with :p

Never said it's something I'd like, but the pvp fanatics might.
It's after all the ultimate means of "destroying your enemies".

And no, TI wouldn't be the only ones left. You're not invincible, godlike, creatures.
You're bound to failure just like everyone else.

More likely a lot less people would run around tagged unless they're so bored they don't care if their toons get deleted because they're planning to quit playing anyway.

Was a good thread til Lalala derailed it

#30 Report | Quote[en]

In fact it was Khandy who derailed it (immediately followed by you) by starting ad-hominem attacks against me, which is the standard way any TI HO reacts whenever I state anything, anywhere.

You guys have been trying to drive me away from Ryzom for over half a year now, and it's not worked.
That ignore list works very nicely, sadly it doesn't extend to the forums or I'd not have to listen to your insults and harassment at all.

I rarely post..anywhere. I am posting simply because it is so utterly exhausting to see/hear babble. Lala, you are perfectly harmless yet effectively irritating to a majority of the people. You remind me of one of my kids, just babbling on to hear yourself talk. My kids do that when they want attention, so you're getting what you are asking for. The reason you've gotten the negative attention in lieu of the "good" attention you want, is when you babble on and answer questions in Uni incorrectly many times, people start to get irritated. Maybe your intentions are good, I don't know, but please don't complain about being harrassed, when you are getting the attention...exactly what you were looking for. As for derailing the forums, who cares anyway, like it was said by Inifuss, there is a feedback area anyway. Ma-Duk help us when Lalala starts babbling there. Maybe Sywindt could just close this thread for you lalala, then you can look elsewhere for your attention. Pvp me *deletes Iala and leaves worthless loot*
