OK, I had a stroke 4 years ago, and am somewhat dense when figuring things out. Now, this afternoon, Gidget was incredibly kind to me and gave me enough dappers to purchase an apartment.

I know that in Dyron, there is a guy that can sell me an apartment, but as I am working as a toolmaker, I think I should be in Pyr.

But I cannot find the guy to buy an apartment from i Pyr. I have talked to some/most/all of the "homin apartment caretakers" and I do not get a dialogue to let me buy an apartment.

So, do I get a cheaper apartment in Dyron, or can someone tell me which NPC I need to talk to to find someone to sell me an apartment.

My levels are insufficient to actually do any quests in Dyron, but I can GET there safely. So do you suggest I make the trek every time to work as a toolmaker, or do I spend more money and find the NPC that can sell me an apartment in Pyr?

I guess that that is all I am asking.

It occurs to me to ask what your Fame is with the Fyros. (Shift+F will get you a window showing your Fames). If you have negative fame with them then you cannot buy an apartment either in Dyron or in Pyr.

The Homin Apartment Caretakers are the people you should be asking. If you right click on them, the item to select is "Building Trade". That should bring up a window that will allow you to purchase the apartment if your Fame is OK. That is the option in the cities; in the towns, the option appears to be to click on the Hello message.

If your Fyros Fame is 46, get the apartment in Dyron and take New Horizons to commute for free to Pyr. :))

Agreed. Pyr is hard to navigate, and you have to go back to the same person you bough the apartment from, which means finding them in that maze that they call a city. I think whoever came up with the street layout for Pyr spent a little too much time inthe desert sun and baked their brain!

Why pay twice as much for something that you'll have a hard time finding when you can live in an easy-to-find place right next to a nice spot of Abhaya wood (handy for Toolmakers)?

Later on, you'll find yourself spendnig a lot more time near Dyron than Pyr anyways. It's fairly near the portals to Underspring (Prime Roots) and Knot of Dementia (Jungle), as well as home to the Overseer who gives a crafting mission that is quite lucrative, and the digging is better.

When I first got to Dyron, many moons ago, I loved the place so much I decided that would be my home. For years I had an apartments in Pyr and my packers in Dyron. I used to run back and forth; was so glad when they added apartments to towns as well. Dyron is well situated and much more scenic than Pyr.

As Bittty said, with New Horizons you can port back to Pyr for free with your fame level.

If you do decide on Pyr, I'd recommend the apartment block I used to have. When you arrive at Cerakos gate, take the left hand path beside the Kami TP and follow that until you come to an apartment entrance on the left. That's probably the easiest apartment entrance to find.

I bought an apartment in Pyr. I "park" my mount at the south gate, and my apartment is the first apartment building inside the first gate.

Yes, I realize that Pyr is a b!tch and a half to navigate, but I have been trying to figure out it's "floorplan" for amout a year, now, and I am reasobly certain that I can mostly navigate it.

Also, I place a marker on my map so I can find the damn thing!

Also, my skills aren't high enough to get to Dyron comfortably, yet. And in my opinion, the only perpose of an apartment is that I can keep all my mats in the apartment and use all those mats to make things, thus increasing my craft skill.
