Report of Ryzom Forge's meeting - monday, march, the 23rd:

Ryzom Wiki : prototype of a new FR main page

- Zorroargh, helped by Zendae, is migrating the Lore in the Ryzom Wiki. He has summarisedhis experiments here in order to help the ones who want to join in integrating the Lore, wince it is a lot of work: http://fr.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Trucs_et_astuces_d%27int%C3%A9grati on_de_la_Lore (a checklist is available to the end.)
- Deed joins the team.

Chronicles on weddings

- Update of the French pages about the fyros, matis, tryker, and zorai weeding with adition of three Atys chronicles: http://fr.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Mariage_fyros   http://fr.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Mariage_matis   http://fr.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Mariage_tryker   http://fr.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Mariage_zora%C3%AF
- The next chronicle will be about a marauder wedding. It hasn't been published yet and is currently being translated.

Players questions

"A multi-lingual wiki such as the one of Ryzom Forge would have allowed to move easily from one page to its equivalent in another language. Why this solution hasn't been chosen? Can it still be envisionned?"
It's almost impossible. Ryzom Forge was thought throught as multinilingual from the start, so there's no problem there. On the other hand, the Ryzom Wiki has ben developed, if I'm not mistaken, first in German then in English. The French wiki came afterwards on a different basis and with a strong independence to the English-German Ryzom Wiki. In addition, even the stories differ. Hence the conclusion: To do like Wikipedia, mention that the translation is available, without anything else.

"And why not creating a new wiki, like the RF one, which would be multilingual for the past-merge version of the Lore, since now we have the same one?"
It's a possibility.  I see an intermediary way. I'd prefer to think about it before saying something wrong or giving false hopes.

Report of Ryzom Forge's meeting - monday, april, the 6th:

The Lore group is reorganising quietly to become more efficient. Regarding the part currently open to RyzomForge, the current work is on the Tribes.
The RF Lore group uses the whole known Lore at today (Public, private, event, lore from Nevrax) to make wiki articles as complete as possible on each tribe, sometimes enriching their background.
Currently, the pages for the Corsars and Slavers are under finalisation (before, this was done internally by the Lore team) and the Hamazan tribe is being written. Once all this validated, these pages will be given to the Translation Team and published on the wiki (you can already see some of this on page of the Corsairs of Aeden Aqueous on the FR wiki).
Wiedii insists on the fact that the work done by RF is the most comple possible, using all resources available at this day from the Nevrax Lore, open to the volunteers of the Lore RF team.

Beside this, other "layers" of the Lore are also under work, especially the Marauders and other elements constituent of the Saga by the Lore team under NDA.

Zorroargh is working on the lay up of various portals (lore, each people...).
Zendae is taking care of integrating the chronicles texts

Lore Wiki
Zorroargh is working mostly on the french wiki http://fr.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/ : Reorganizing the portals, the categories.... it takes long.
Zendae and Vaiatua are working at integrating little by little the migrated documents, for examples the chronicles.
Zendae's contribution to the Lore team centres on introducing the tribes in French: after the Corsairs and Slavers, The Masters of the Goo have their presentation. Coming soon: Hamazans of the Dead Seed and Ecowarriors.

Wiki Lore

1 - Ryzom Wiki

1.1 - Highlighting the Ryzom Wiki

Currently, the official Ryzom site (( http://ryzom.com/ ) displays a link to the Ryzom Wiki at the very bottom of its drop-down menu. It would be judicious to place it at the top of the list, with the Ryzom Forge Wiki. But it means some work before on the EN, DE and ES wiki (see next topic)

1.2 - HomePage, portals, categories and content of the DEn, EN, EF, FR and RU wikis

http://fr.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Accueil
The FR wiki is managed by Zorroargh, who recreated the home page, the portals, and added categories and "tags". It is filled mainly by Zendae and Vaiatua. Very nice work!

http://en.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Main_Page
The EN Wiki is managed by Sircotare. But unfortunately, he isn't much available. It has no contributor at the moment.

http://de.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Hauptseite
The DE Wiki has no manager. It has no contributor at the moment

http://es.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/P%C3%A1gina_principal
The ES Wiki is a new wiki, with a home page copied from the EN Wiki. This home page needs to be translated. Moreover, we have no administrator nor contributors for this wiki
To be mentionned: the link toward the ES Wiki has been added in the banner in the wikis, in the drop-downs menu "Ryzom Wiki"

http://ru.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/%D0%97%D0%B0%D0%B3%D0%BB%D0%B0%D0%B 2%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%8F_%D1%81%D1%82%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%86%D0 %B0
The RU Wiki is totally new, and hence eplty. If there is an administrator and contributors interested to make it live, please let me know on IRC, on the forum, or by e-mail to tamarea@ryzom.com

Emergency seems to be to find volunteers to manage the Lore Wiki apart from the FR one

[Tamarea] By the way I'm also wondering about the number of French-speaking during this meeting: 4 non French Speaking on 23 attendees. Is it a problem with the day, the hour, time of year, something else?

1.3 - Work on chronicles and tribes

Here are the added pages:
http://fr.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Corsaires
http://fr.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Esclavagistes
http://fr.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Trafiquants_des_Ombres
http://fr.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Ma%C3%AEtres_de_la_Goo

2 - Private Lore

A lot of work is being done on the Ranger Lore and the Marauder Lore, both to enrich them and to reconcie the old Lore with the game reality (including the different realities on the three old servers). The aim is to have a stable base, both logical and rich. It is on this rewritten Lore that we'll rest on to restart these two Third Factions

1-Wiki lore: work on the chronicles and the tribes

[Zendae] Everything is progressing slow but steady. Regarding the translation, when I'm importing a chronicle I don't consider yet if it is done in the other languages. Well, I shortly stopped doing it, it was already difficult to assimilate the FR organisation. First thing, have the pages entered, Then plub-up the organisation. It remains something of a low rythme, something like a page a day. If others enjoy reading the Lore, there's work left to do. :)

2- Moving the documents from the Kaghanat wiki to the one of RF: what do we do?

[Zatalyz] I hope we can discuss it a bit here. As Zendae mentionned it to me, writing twice the articles would also require to pass on the changes on both sides. It will be a lot of work to create, then to maintain. I belive the most "economical" way (to to spare the volunteers) would be to mage pages with a link to the other wiki. For example, a page on "creating a mission" on the RF wiki, which lists all the pages allowing to do that on the Khaganat wiki (with keywords to find the page).

[Osquallo] There's nothing preventing someone to migrate everything on RF if one has the time one day.  But I'd be in favour of creating the next ones on RF side. It's more directly related to this side. : If there is the opportunity of course.
[Zatalyz] Osquallo: on the question "on which wiki it will be", it will depend on who's writing the documentation... I prefer for the documentation to be done, without constraining on one system or the other, due to the syntax differences.

[Tamarea] How to manage the translations?
[Zatalyz] There's everything needed to translate on Khaganat. There's already EN/FR, other langages can be added easily if we have translators (It will take me 30 minutes, time to find back the right option ^^). Zatalyz: And it's a wiki, so everyone can correct :) (you just need to register, because of bots... sorry). For example, on a page such as this one  https://khaganat.net/wikhan/en:primitivemissiondocdestroy_item: at the top right corner of the page, there's something to change the language, and move to the FR version of the article (this one is translated :p ) : *a drop-down menu.

[Zorroargh] As for the translations, we have too few resources. I believe we should give priority to English for the technical documentations: developers are already used to english jargon. And save the other translations to what is "history": lore, events, etc.
[Remigra] A beautiful site, not very helpful but unfortunately for me, as I'll probably not really understand it myself in German ^^ I think if I would understand, I would much further ^^  but I meant as the previous speaker, that they must be in English, after all, this is the most understood language. so before Ranging
[Lyne] I don't fully agree that the technical documentation shouldn't be translated in other languages thant EN. First, there are people not fluent enough in English, but who could help, even without being developers themselves. Second, as a translator, I sometime appreciate translating technical things: it's often simpler than convoluted chronicles.
[Zorroargh] I wanted to precise that I didn't say that it was not to be translated. I'm a lot more at ease and efficient in FR than in EN. But if we're low on people, we'll have to give priority to the translations effort where the players understand less (stories), and give priority to English for technical documentations. I don't wish it but it's a technical analysis: there are too few of us
[Remigra] Now we see it that way, Latin is the language of mediziener, and english is actually the language of the devs, if I'm not mistaken (world ^^) certainly I would wish the translation of technical things, I also spoke to others, but as already mentioned, we have a few recorcen and have in this regard unfortunately make concessions: / We are no longer limited to devs from a country, which is why it is the Common Language is to use I think. and this is in dev beings after all the English I mean.

[Osquallo] I'm in favour of writing first on RF if possible and add a link. Anyhow, even when translating, it's not instantaneous, so we'll need a link to the original page.
 *Zorroargh nods in agreement .
[Osquallo] The Khanat > RF link is less problematic. Peoples from Khanat know they'll come on RF, but the topic is Ryzom and these pages are useful to all the ones approaching Ryzom. So that's were it should mainly be findable

[Lyne] I come back to the first question: writing the pages twice, or giving a link. I think the link is a more efficient solution. Whatever its direction (Kh -> RF or RF -> Kh).  But I see one advantage at writing the pages twice. Not doing it systematically, but giving the opportunity. There are people who come on this channel or the forum syaing "I don't know anything but I want to help". Let's propose to them to migrate these pages: the list is known. It will allow them to discover the wiki syntax. And then they can move to the chronicles. Or the code... It's making them enter in the RF world.

[Tamarea] So we have three choices:
1-Move everything from the Khaganat wiki to the RF one
2-Let the already written documents on Khaganat and just add the links on RF + continue writing these documents on Khaganat
3-Let the already written documents on RF + write the next ones on RF (with a link to Khaganat)
I agree with Osquallo in the idea that all documents regarding Ryzom sholud be first written on RF wiki, which is the central wiki of this free project (as much as its equivalent on Ryzom Core side).
[Lyne] Et 4 - Laisser les documents déjà écrits + écrire les prochains où on veut (selon celui qui les écrit) mais en pensant à mettre un lien de l'autre côté

[Zatalyz] On my side... Thanks for tonight talk, it helps me seeing more clearly. I agree on the fact that if it regards Ryzom, it's better on Ryzom. But I also know that we'll have more work done by giving a choice to peoples. Zatalyz: I'm in favour on solution 4, by moving myself to make the links, it should be fine... And I will also write the tutorial on how to transfer from one wiki to the other. As Lyne said it, it's a good start for the ones who don't know what to do.  So, it won't necessarily be in two-copies soon (maybe never), but it will be possible. *Zatalyz: And I'm not in favor of a "transfer", in the sense of "everything on one side or the other exclusively".  Repetition also allows to increase the chances for it to remain online. And I also hope that the differences which will appear (in the style, in the details) will allow the ones who are searching to find "their" way. Myself, when following a technical tutorial, I always have several sources to hand, between  which I alternate ^^ We don't have to get a pure clone...

[Zorroargh] I just wanted to draw attention on the fact that double maintenance would also require resources. I'm a lot more in favour of having only one version wherever it is. That's all. (Even if I'm sharing Zatalyz point of view regarding the perfect clones)
[Tamarea] Zorroargh: any preference on where to put this version?
[Zorroargh] RF from my point of view.

3-Home page, portals, categories, and contents of the DE, EN, EF, FR and RU Lore wikis

The FR Lore wiki is going fine, but it's the only one: without administrators and contributors, the DE, EN, ES and RU wikis will die. And havint only one FR wiki is not to be wished for a multilingual community.  It is urgent for volunteers to make themselves known!
[Osquallo] Just wanted to say that I discussed in game with EN and DE who would have liked to get all the chronicles and events we had on our side, translated in their language
[Tamarea] With more translators, it would become possible. But we also need absolutely administrators and contributors for these wikis.  Zendae finds that adding a text per day is few, but it means 30 per month, incidentally! If the EN and DE chronicles (already translated) were moved on the wiki and added in categorieds, it would be a good start.

1 Lore wiki in french: work on Chronicles

Zendae has made a lot of work on the chronicles these last months, to add the missing chronicles but also to all reorganize. She has written, corrected and finalized a thousand of articles since february and has managed the categories too, all this represent a thousand of interventions from her on the wiki since 5 months!
Here are two links to visit: http://fr.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Portail:Chroniques and http://fr.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Portail:Chroniques/Depuis_2525.

2 Other languages Lore wiki: call to volonteers to manage them

Everything is in the title: we have some contributors for the FR Lore Wiki but not for the other ones... It becomes urgent to take care of the EN DE ES and RU wikis!
These wikis don't have to be the copy of the FR one, each wiki can have his own personnality. The English Lore wiki for example, his quite différent from the french wiki and it's not a problem.Iit's this diversity that is enriching.
Each wiki can follow his own way, while translating the pages that seem interesting from other wikis.

But to make those wikis alive, which have the particularity to be officiallo-collaborative (meaning that everyone can add things to the official content by a validation system, and that all player content can be added to the official Lore), we need contributors.
That's why we launch a call to administrators, volunteers to add or update articles, translators,... ! If everyone come and help a little, according to its time and its competences, the result will be great!

1 Lore wiki

1.1 Chronicles

Zendae:
First, following the works for the integration of the chronicles in the Lore wiki, I've started writing a small reading guide. The aim is to make players aware of the interest of reading the chronicles, and more globally the Lore, and to explain how the texts have been sorted (FR part).  Doing this drove me to make some improvements in the sorting, and to start to get texts from an other source: the forum. There are indeed texts "Atys chronicles" in the forum which weren't listed in the Lore site. These texts are often specific to the Aniro history, so Zorraorgh created a banner to mention this specificiy at the beginning of the text.
There are some texts which are difficult to integrate, i've asked the anim to get an idea on how to proceed. Several cases, first one, a simple "event report" such as chatlog, but with NPC in it giving important bits of information. For example: http://app.ryzom.com/app_forum/index.php?page=topic/view/7674/31 , where there are lots of data regarding kitins. Second case, when the event is a serie of exchanges or texts, from various people, including players. Such as the "Dark sawdust merchant" and "Azaen" series on Aniro.
That's all regarding on-going works.

Gaueko:
I think we could check those text on the Lore Team first.  We already have some problems with some texts and documents right now that have information that is being rechecked. I talk about the texts with information related to the Lore, of course, if the texts is about something that happened on an event you can´t change nothing.

Tamarea:
We've got this "Lore validated" stamp. The Lore Team could read the chronicles again and validate them, or modify them if needed.

Zorroargh:
The Lore stamp for the chronicles has been improved to mention to which server they're related when there has been a divergence. I've added "templates" in the DE, EN and ES wiki for these articles. But I wasn't able to translate them. If someone can casst a sjort glance at them...

1.2 Lore files

- Addition in the Lore wiki of the file describing the tryker scientific society (FISHES), recently introduced in event

1.1 Work on the private lore and incoming publications

We want to gradually open the Lore to the players. Indeed, even if it's normal to keep part of it secret, a big part of what should be known by your characters, isn't. For example, what are your characters supposed to know what about the goo, the kitins, fire?

This lack of information is a brake for RP, and an open window for Lore slides, because the players, missing information on the Lore, start to invent it by themselves.

That's why Bepock and Gorias are working on writing a glossary listing one by one all the themes of the Lore. Each theme will be developped in three versions: A very private version, for the Lore group use only; an internal version, for the Event Team, which will include the Lore pieces to be brought to the players knowledge along the events; and a public version for the players.

Q: A suggestion, which I'm sure you will fix: please make sure it is up to date, so far the Lore says Yrkanis is still king, and very little mention is made of the second great swarming, etc.
A: It's scheduled, but it's also a very long work, so Bepock and Gorias start with themes which will be also used by rites and missions designers. Moreover, updating the public Lore (such as a king replacement) can be done without any problem by players in the Lore Wiki. This wiki is official-and-collaborative.

Q: Will the parts of the revealed Lore be revealed on RP manner? More precisely, will the informations be considered as new knowledge by our avatars? Or just a regularisation of what they should already know?
A:  It will all depend of the kind of information. What will be in the public Lore is supposed to be known by your characters (sometimes according to their nation or faction). What will be revealed during events will be new knowledge. The goal is that the players know more easily how make their character act and how to create player event without diverging from the Lore.

Q: What's about fictional stories such as origination of known guilds or the like? How should this be verified?
A: If some players want to have their guild history or character history validated, just ask us and we'll look at it when we can. Once validated, the text will get the "Lore validated" stamp, and it will become a part of the official Lore of Ryzom. And regarding the texts without any validation request, they're not related to the official Lore, but they could be considered as homin legends.

Of course, the FISHES is not the only Tryker research organization.  The New Trykoth Council of Scientists also exists.  However, the focus of the NTCS is more on observation (of the skies, kitins, disturbances of the surface, etc.) than in the practical(?) applications and development of devices.

1 New chronicle
- The power of the father (matis chronicle):

2 Ryzom Wiki
Zendae: Yes, there was also a fyros Chronicle not long ago, From ember, comes the flame, both are in the FR lore wiki, I would have added them in the other languages also but for now I'm still not familiar with the sorting of the other languages. But even if not having the old texts, it would be fine to have the new ones added simultaneously. When I've time I'll see how to do that, at least with a temporary sorting.

Q: What do you mean with that?
A: I mean we should not increase the gap of content between sections of different languages. If we don't do it at the same time in each language, we'll lose time later to make the bridges between pages.
Gaueko: Agree. I want to take some time to focus on the ES texts there too.
Zendae: If all is to be created in ES section, maybe you can ask Zorroargh about his "portal" concept.

3 Marauder Lore
Gaueko: After several months one of the most important documents I was working for the Marauder Lore has been validated recently. Took me long to gather all the information and to fit the little was done with new things I have written. This document is Melkiar's Biography. Right now I am working in two documents to be published as soon as we can, one with Melkiar's Bio and another one with the Marauder History. This documents will bring with them more documents to fill all the gaps; Marauder society, environment, values, how do they see, organization etc. What will mean that I could start working in the last part of  my second step of three (missions and occupations) and move forward the next one, the assemblies and the events. Not to stop the creative flow I made the whole document mixing Melkiar's and Marauders history. Right now I am spliting both things to have Melkiar's Bio and Marauders History in different documents. I hope we can publish almost one of them soon. Marauder History needs few more entries to be added but is almost done.

Deed: For me, marauders woud more be against civilisations, but not against gods, they're more against everything. I'd have prefered for marauder-kara and marauder-kami.
Gaueko: About the Marauders, I hope many questions and things are solved soon.
