Si c'est ça tu as raison

Il y a aussi l'orgueil, la jalousie, la fainéantise, la bêtise, et plein d'autres, qui sont possibles sur chaque fil, sur chaque sujet de forum. Et, bien sûr, il s'agit toujours de celle des autres :)
Et ça me fait toujours sourire quand quelqu'un est persuadé d'avoir tout démontré ^^

Pour revenir au sujet :

1) Est ce que le camping est une mauvaise pratique, ou pas ?
Si oui, on s'attaque à la mauvaise pratique
Si non, on arrête ce fil, et on va jouer

2) Si le camping est une mauvaise pratique, comment lutter contre ?
- repérer les campeurs, et les "punir"
- faire des zones de pvp
- taguer ces campeurs de force
- ...

Voila, classique : identification d'un problème, recherche de solution, mise en place des solutions
Je ne vois pas où se place l'ego dans ce processus.

Si la solution est bonne, elle profite au jeu, si elle est mauvaise, elle fera fuir certains joueurs, et ne rien faire, fait fuir aussi des joueurs.
C'est tellement banal tout ça ...

je crois que tu a bien résumé.

si on veut régler le problème du camping, c'est au camping et au campeur que l'on doit s'attaquer et pas chercher une manière détourné qui vas a son tour nuire a tout une autre parti du gameplay.

perso je vois que ça =), les autre proposition, zone pvp ça vas plus que râler comme a chaque fois =), forcer le tag d'un inactif pres d'un pop, ça parait pas mal mais , exemple personnel, je pex mon tir dans une zone du couloir brulé sur les timari (près de la rampe de thesos) il y a un campeur qui y passe sont temps (et je doit avouer que je le buterais bien) seulement dans cette même zone il m'arrive très souvent d'afk un bon moment dans un coin, en même temps moi je suis souvent déjà tag donc bon =), mais c'est un exemple, et dans les deux proposition , zone pvp et tag il reste le problème des zone safe des TP.

What we are really talking about is one (or two) players whose behaviour has tarnished the reputation of an entire guild. One of them is such an egregious 'camper' that one wonders if camping is as bad as many of us seem to think it is, or is it just because of his/her behaviour over the last few months that we now see any inactive toon in vacinity of a boss spawn as a camper. As we are told by CSRs, time and time again, what these players are doing is NOT against the CoC, as camping is not prohibited. However, I would suggest that they are intentionally trying to harrass and upset players and that this IS against the CoC. If this is not intentional harrassment, then, their behaviour is so selfish that it goes well beyond any desire for mats. One only has to look at the tone of this thread, and others like it, to see what the effect that one individual is having on the community. In either case, this behaviour ammouts to harrassment and if the CSRs wished they could use this to put a stop to it.

I could care less about campers. You can leave your computer on all the time, but you cannot be watching the computer 24/7. You have to sleep sometime and that is when i will get the boss :D.

Somehow this reminds me of when I was a kid and played Tekken with my friend. I had no experience whatsoever but I could win every time by pressing all the buttons randomly. Man he got angry and told me to stop doing it. I think you should blame the game not the player. If it's too easy to camp bosses then maybe we should make the bosses spawn in random locations.

How about tweak the current targeting mechanism:
All Boss/King can be targeted within 50m.
Anyway the maximum distance for nuking is 50m and I doubt you will use launchers to kill a Boss/King.

This will eradicate suspected campers camping from 100m away from the re-spawn spot since mostly if not all safe spot is a 100m away from the re-spawn spot.

"tweaking" the targetting mechanism may not be as easy as it sounds. I doubt that it is controllable by ARK.

At any rate, I wonder if it is just the time zone that I play in, but I have not seen any evidence that camping is at all *effective*. In the past year I have been on dozens of pick-up boss hunts, killing and looting many bosses, sometimes 5 or 6 in an evening. In that same year, I think that I have noticed another team in the vicinity of the boss three times.

Three. One of them stole the boss from us and two watched while we killed the boss.

These were not cases where we were traveling and found the Boss suddenly and therefore pulled a fast one. Since I am neutral it generally takes me between 5 and 10 minutes to get to boss locations when I am called away from digging. These were cases where Ulsort or Bones were doing boss location runs and then calling for teams. (Uls and Bones are the usual ones, but sometimes it's other people.)

As I said, this may be an artifact of playing in the time period that pretty much corresponds to 04:00 to 10:00 CET, but if it is not, then I really do not doubt the existence of campers, but I doubt their efficacy.


P.S. As has been pointed out, camping is not against the rules. If, as I think, it is not a particularly effective tactic, that should be enough to ignore it.
