IDEAS FOR RYZOM

As a token of appreciation to veterans of atys who stick to the game - i want to suggest awarding a title and special emote designed for accounts that are older then 10 years old.
Something on the line of the Elder title but with a different angle as this is reserved for beta testers- like "Veteran of atys" or something like it - and a nice dance emote maby? this would ofc only affect accounts being 10 years or older.
Just an idea, would like some feedback and maby some good title ideas -

i like this idea. it would be a nice reward for those that have put in that many years of time in ryzom. and given that ryzom's only now working on it's 11th year (next b-day is #11) that's going to make an "elite" class for the title.

the dance doesn't have to be the elder dance either just something that would be unique to the accounts that are at least 10 years old.

just another way to promote players that have stuck it out to keep on sticking it out, to the bitter end some of us will never give up on the ol' rootball.

just my 2 dappers.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

yup, i'll +1 that... though it doesn't apply to me in the slightest :P
i think i decade long account should be recognized... would need to be a sufficient enough time between the elders/betas though. i don't know the time frames from alpha, beta to a working game.

+1 certainly support - thinking how good it is that we have the oldies about to craft stuff for us :D

This idea of "I'm offended". Well I've got news for you. I'm offended by a lot of things too. Where do I send my list? Life is offensive. You know what I mean? Just get in touch with your outer adult. (Bill Hicks)

Speaking as a 10 year 'vet' and an Elder, I'd be in favour of this, obviously!

I'd suggest actually having 2 levels of reward, 1 for 5 years and 1 for 10+ years.

As for titles, Veteran sounds a good title or "Survivor of Atys" (since we've been though lots of out of game changes and hung on in there). Could have something like "The Dedicated" for 5 years. Or if you wanted to go for something funny, how about "Just Wont Quit"? :o)

As for an emote, I'd say something different from the FBT emote, maybe a short 1 for 5 years and an extended 1 for 10?

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Second especially Neela's take on the idea. 10 years is good and should be rewarded, but it may be more motivating to know for newbies that there's a five year one, too

I'd favour titles that are at least somewhat in-character simply because all titles are visible in-game.

Emotes are work intensive. Titles are easier to implement.

As we say "give them a finger and they grapple the arm": Let's have character-based titles, too: For someone surviving 50 (?) Atys cycles we could be "Long lived". Could think of two or three titles.

That would make for one or two account based titles, and two or three character based.

Yes - love the idea to have one for 5 year old aswell .

+1 for even 2 year vets up. little steps are very important as the long walk.

And...... I don't agree with that !

It's not the age of the accounf who counts but for me, it's more the length of days played which shows that the player is concerned about the game at least a minimum :)

What if I log an accound I had 10 years ago and get the title ?? Seems unfair for those who play everyday since 3 years.

I add that since the fusion occurred , I got a good view of all the players during one year and some of you didn't play this period.

It better to add a title for some who played like 300 days or so.

+1 Alric.

I like the idea a lot but time played is better than how old your account is imo.

I agree that time played is important, but so is age of account. just as a symbol of support if nothing else.

Since time played got reset with the merge, we have no measure of that past 2.4 years ago (unless there are archival records of it from before the merge, in which case I and probably many others want credit for it).

If someone remembers Ryzom after 5 years and comes back to play, I don't see any harm in giving them a title in recognition of that. Lots of players hop from game to game and once they switch they forget their previous one completely.

Maybe there can be two tiers for titles - one for account age, and one for time played?

+1 MJ. If we go by played time alone many just leave logged in afk anyways. Either one is fine for me I think the point is just to show that the player is supporting the game and stuck around.

How about titles like:
* 5 year veteran
* 10 year veteran
* 300 active days veteran
* 1000 active days veteran
