Sounds like it would be an ideal project to suggest to Ryzom Forge for the beginning adventures in creating equippable items, especially ones with bulk and weight.

The modelers could have a field day since there are four different species of mounts and packers to outfit with armor, probably four skins for the four nations, not to mention the change in the animation of the meks to show their reaction to the armor. (Might be even more skins if they wanted, to reflect BQ, MQ and HQ armor, not to mention the possible mek LA (caparisons) for dress purposes.)

I would expect effective mek heavy armor to be both weighty and bulky, reducing the volume of the saddlebags and the amount of additional weight a mek could carry. One would then have to trade off increased survivability against the reduction in carrying capacity. I could imagine that it might also affect their speed, independent of the possibility of getting over-weighted.

In terms of crafting, a homin would have to buy the plans, but it isn't *that* much different than regular armor, so there wouldn't need to be a new branch on the skill tree.

The question is, and I have no idea what the answer might be, where does all that go from being an add-on to changing up the basic code?

If all 4 nations are getting a different look in would love it if marauders could be attributed their own meks with marauder armour. I understand there are arguments for and against this, of which I won't go into, just saying it would be nice :)
