IDEAS FOR RYZOM

Whilst recently discussing a roleplay post with Salazar, we were joking about possible titles that could have arisen from it.

So this sparked an idea for me. Why not have roleplay titles which can be awarded for various deeds, both in game but also RP deeds on the forums. Some titles could be funny, others just a normal title.I believe seeing homins run around with unique titles would show a more engaging side to RP, encouraging and promoting it. This also has the chance to open up more RP posts on the forums which I personally enjoy reading.

If there was a place people could send title nominations- with the reasoning behind it, then an event team member could decide if it was worthy and how long the title should be available for. Hopefully this would be a quick and easy thing to do?

i long for 'prefessional procrastinator' but i'd never get round to writing a reasoning.

i would like the title "useless story writer" for my RP stories about the upper branches. (because unless they are used as intended, it's very true that my stories are useless other then for entertainment and to fill time when bored.)

anyone care to proof read that, i didn't use capitals, i don't use much more then a comma to separate blocks of text and yes somehow most that read this will understand it all, lolx (making a joke in jest about a related post) i do think my spell check works right most of the time, so that's a plus.

Talk, you have to be aware that spellcheck is NOT your friend. It may present a smiling and plausibly helpful face, but it is ever ready to stab you in the back if it seams that you have let down your guard.

very true, but it's better to have most words spelled right then have ton's spelled wrong. it's been known to get me here and there :)

I'm not looking forward to "Geriatric" or "Dotard", for sure. It's not really fitting in here, but I'd like to point out that "Old Salazar" is younger than, say, Chanchey or Wasari and quite a few others. In fact, every time I attend a meeting I'm mightily surprised how many people are longer in the game than me! ;)

Why did you guys choose other if I might ask? A possible different take on the idea?

I must admit that I picked other primarily because TalkIRC (whose thread this is not) saw fit to question Pinks in a demanding manner, so I figured to join her on the Group W bench.

I do, however, have a problem with "Player-Driven" Titles. The titles are administrated by a small portion of an already heavily worked Event Team, and new ones appear to be particularly fragile in the face of reboots and glitches of the server. Making "on demand" titles available would seem to me to be a drag on ET resources to no great benefit of the community.

Player-Suggested Titles should always be an option, of course, since there are events where the ET seems to delight in giving out new tags (Atysmas is coming).

However, if the idea is to reward roleplay / forum posts with titles that would be used by those in the Forums, then I see the possibility of running a Forum section in which players nominate other players for titles that can be voted on. If a suggested title for a player reaches a certain threshold in a Poll or simple + posts then the player proudly displays that in her signature line. If negative votes accumulate, then they player is on her honor to remove it.

So, I nominate Virg for the title "The Provocative."

well bittty, i didn't mean it that way, i was courious, but regardless i won't be here for awhile so you won't have to worry about me for a while.

That was old virg on the forums :P The only issue with public voting is it could get malicious.. take recent events for example what if someone was to nominate someone a "grammer kincher" and enough people joined in that the player was awarded it?

That is why I proposed the idea of someone sending a suggestion privately. I don't think it would take to much effort to read through a little message and then decide whether to award the title or not? Then again I do not know much about these things- can only assume.

Also I don't think its an issue asking why someone voted other? It is just natural curiosity- if Pinks doesn't want to say then thats fine- no pressure :)
