Is it still forcing people out of a region, if they do not want to pvp, Virg. If you want to promote pvp, this is not going to make non-pvpers happy. However, there is nexus which is already pvp enabled, so less work to implement. The ideas you suggest could be done here. And giving a reward for being faction (limited to those who take part) that controls nexus could work.

Sorry I read you wrong; I thought you meant a longer time frame. I still do not think making non-pvp areas pvp for a fight is good idea. I am not sure about about your idea for guards/towers as I do not really understand pvp dynamics to comment. The idea sounds interesting, though.

Auto tagging when you enter a region? I thought PvP was supposed to be consensual. We have a bad enough time with gankers in LoU. "if you don't want to be attacked, don't go there" is unacceptable. Use Nexus if you have to, but lay off 250 PR zones.

"If you dont want to be attacked, don't go there" is already in place for 5 regions. This would be in place much like an OP war with people being warned when entering the region. As I have stated this would only be for an hour, why should 250 PR zones be excluded? Lacuna mentioned season change which can be overcome with correct coding. If you want to dig q250 PR mats there are several other regions that could be used if one was under attack.

you have the option to join or not join an OP war, it's not forced

as for the thing about farming points, two people tagging up and fighting to the death over and over, even if they're really trying could be considered farming by some but not by others. it's very hard to police something like that. further more, i feel there's far more serious things that the CSR's could be doing then trying to be the atys police and slap people on the wrist for in effect "spitting on the sidewalk". if there was more then just a skirt and shield then perhaps it would be logical to worry about people that farm, only mara's are limited in getting crystals via pvp points, the rest of us can use the civ points to get them. by choosing to be mara you choose to have the harder way to go, maybe they should consider making missions that the mara's can do to gain "mara" points so they can buy sap crystals with those. i do feel that mara's are rather neglected in terms of missions with rewards other then dappers. (tribe missions are the only way that mara's can really make dappers, which they can do quite well, i'm sure)

personally i'd much rather see them being able to make right bugged missions and things like that, vs the "we're sorry we can't do anything about it, you have to wait and take the mission over again. no we can't reset the mission timer so you can retake it now. no we can't replace the __________ that you lost because of the error."

sorry some of that got off topic, but the bottom line on topic is that if you force it, it will hurt the larger player base that doesn't want to be forced to pvp, regardless of region, be it a 50 region or a 250 region.

i do agree that nexus would be a good region for this, as there's very little reason to go there, so it could be the perfect place for pvp free-for-alls.

You have the option to enter a region, its not forced. We are talking about 1 hour, its not an awful long time. The PVP in this game needs nurturing. Think how well the playerbase would have been maintained if all the PVPers who left hadn't. This game has no issues keeping hold of non PVPers.

I won't get into farming pvp points with you talk, this thread is not about that. Send me a tell if you want to discuss how you think the devs should let something that is illegal happen.

an hour may not be that long, but for some people that play ryzom that 1 hour might be the only time they have to play, and when they find their preferred zone of play is suddenly a pvp zone, they may be discouraged from playing, ryzom has alot to offer players, if pvp is the only thing that will keep them here, perhaps there should be more things done.

i would like to say that if it was option, like an op war, with a msg for 10 seconds to join in or stay neutral, even i as a non-pvp player might be enticed to try it out. i also like the idea of towers to attack, that give's it structure that's both pvp and pve, because attacking npc towers is more like pve. homins could pvp over the towers to see who has the stronger team and the "right" to attack a tower.

i'm not against structured pvp, as long as it is 100% optional, otherwise we risk pushing away players that stay for the pve; i will agree that some players have left over the pvp, but we don't want to nurture the pvp in the game at the cost of the pve players. that's just pushing the larger group away, which would be far worse for ryzom in the end.

I understand which is why Suboxide proposed the PR regions instead of regionals, as there are still other options at least if you want a q250 PR region.

The main reason why I suggested the whole region be tagged is because I believe (although have no idea) it would be easier than coding a similar system to that of the OP wars. Also fits into the RP of the whole region being under attack. Anyways if an OP system would get more people involved then guess it could work out for the better, but I would still prefer the whole region. Up to the devs if this was ever implemented anyways :)

Many many many players have left over PVP. Basically the entire Marauder faction (although that was partially due to lack of support). I hardly think that PVP tagging a PR region for an hour would push players away but then I guess im not in a position to comment as I am not that type of person.

Anyways whatever the system would be great to see if people could earn pvp points from this so they don't have to farm..

Did anybody read my post? Please comment on it, I liked the idea of a city in Nexus that is conquerable and ownable by the factions, not just towers to conquer, but I'm ok with that. Make it as interactive as possible, Give a reason to conquer it, Hence the supremes put back, occupations, faction only digging in that area, pr mats. I propose making it ongoing, not just for an hour. Make it permanent!

Two points to address:

- Regions, as portions of land, belong to the nations. A nation is just the next thing below Higher Powers and slightly above organizations. They are much more powerful than individual guilds, no matter how strong the guild is. You would have to explain in RP terms how / why a nation would sit idle and allow a guild to declare war within their borders .. and why aren't they sending half the army to bash the attackers skull in.

Further, it puts guilds that only belong to an organization at an advantage; assume there's a violent ranger guild that wants to "warn" a nation for not collaborating with them. They can declare on a nation's region, but can the subjects do a counterdeclare on anything? Not really. Almati Woods is mostly neutral ground and a gateway to the Kitin Lair. Similarly, how do you show aggression towards marauders? They only own a meager camp, technically in a Matis-owned region.

- I might support this mechanic in PR, with one condition: that the devs first fix the supreme refill bug. As it stands now, you can have sup zun depleted almost everywhere in 2 seasons. If one region is left and due to properly refill, allowing it to be pvp enabled at or near season change would drive out exactly the folk who already avoid SN because of the pvp. There would often be no option if you need to dig a particular material, that only refilled in a region that's currently under declare.

Currently I see this as an interesting idea that needs to be thoroughly analyzed in order to fix the loose ends.

If the city were easy to make then I would be all for it. I have no idea if it would be easy ot not :)

The ongoing would be quite cool as it allows a group of people to attempt to take it whenever. Very much in favor of this. Just depends if it would be difficult or not to do. If a few towers could be done in a year but a city would take longer then would opt for the towers.

In all honesty the region flags my be interesting from a visual point of view, nevertheless the do not add any thing to the game and i would much prefer to have the little developer time to mo pressing issues present in the game!!!


Hope I am not a buzzkill but there are countless bugs in the game ;)

Indigo -- the reason the flags can be done easily and be included quickly is that they can be done *without* the involvement of devs. (Or dev. -- It has not been confirmed that there are more than one.) The art, the modeling, are not dev work. The only dev work, I suspect, will be getting them into the databases so that they can be included in a client upgrade or simply put into one of the regular mini-upgrades (such as those for Atysmas or Anlor Winn).

True bug reports should go into the Support Forum or in a direct report through the ticket system or email to support@ryzom.com . That will get them to the attention of the CSRs and devs. Judging from past performance, the final fix will be un-announced.
