IDEAS FOR RYZOM

The NPC doesn’t really give players any information regarding the fame required to start training. Can an extra sentence indicating IC or OOC you need 30 fame per nation and 0 fame per power to do the training be included in the text? This will give players a clear explanation of what they need.

rangers should not require any amount of fame based on "power" better known as religion. since the rangers don't answer to any single government they should also not require anything more then 0 fame with the civ's.

anything other then this makes them something other then the "neutral" faction that i've been lead to believe they are.

0 or no fame requirement sounds ideal but for the NPC giving the training the fame levels I mentioned are needed. There was talk at the meeting that they may change. Nothing else been said about it. For the time being the current requirement isn't at all mentioned by the NPC, which leaves any player wanting to train in the blank.

Talk-- The Ranger faction needs high "Fame" with not only the Nations but the Powers because they are supposed to be well regarded by all. That is neutral. Not "no fame," but "no favoritism." In terms of the game mechanics, a citizen or subject of a Nation can meet the all fames zero criterion.

Perla -- rather than programming the NPC to give ooc information, I would rather that the event team posted the words of the trainer in the Forums and add the ooc information there. If I had not been on vacation, and thus forced to miss the meeting, I would have put it up in one of my usual posts.

Firstly I would like to point out that people with above 0 fame in each nation are not well regarded by all.

The rangers are too proud and too arrogant to assume they can remove the kitin threat with just people who have 0 fame with each nation. I see by the fact the Ranger won't talk to me shows once again they have already separated themselves from the marauders. It won't be long before the next Kitin swarming and we shall see the great rangers running for the hills again. Let me remind you all who stayed behind and who survived the kitins, rather than fleeing like cowards.

The ranger's number one priority should be to fight the Kitins. This means this should take priority over everything else. If it is anything other than this then they will be just as useless as the governments that run the 4 nations.

Keeping notes on the forum of said meeting is a great idea, and it seems you were needed to do the task since nobody else (me included) thought to do so. But as I am finding out not everyone bothers to read the forum, and it still doesn't solve the topic - which is not having the accurate information when selecting the NPC to do the training. I don't think it will be poor taste or interrupt roleplay to add a simple message that informs the player of the fame they need to start the training. Even adding a simple information bulletin board like we have next to trainers in Silan will work just the same.

@Virg: The Rangers of Atys seem to be at the front of this task, and are now training homins to become Rangers and join their organization. As I understand it was the Rangers that help save hominity with their battle plans, and convinced the Kamis, the Karavans, the Nations and the Trytonist to collaborate and work together during the Second Great Swarming - I haven't read nor found any information that will shed some light on how the Marauders as an organization help fight back the Kitins or had any influence on the tactics used during the Second Great Swarming. The Rangers of Atys mission is to help homins live in peace without division and from the threat of Atys greatest foe, Kitins. I believe in their mission for hominkind and I also believe “That no single race has a monopoly on ignorance and no single race is the “one, true and only” child of Atys. We are all homins and the children of Atys.” (quote by Rhaenaan - The Eye of Atys guild).

In order for the Rangers to be able to work as an organization with the four nations and the two super powers they must have some fame with them. At least this is how it was explained to me when I asked why Rangers need fame. As far as I know Marauders are not a nation or a super power but another organization - though I can see how Trytonist (as a secret organization) can infiltrate the Marauder organization - I don't see how Rangers can work with Marauders considering their strict fame requirements. (In theory as roleplayers we can work together but that would be player driven and organized.)

Perla -- I agree. Either an ooc text at the npc, or at least a statement in the forums would do.

Virg -- As it stands now and as Perla described in the first post, you must *not* be nation-aligned (required +30 fame with everyone, whereas alignment caps one fame to 0). Also, you are allowed to be aligned with the Powers - but you must work hard to reverse the -50 you get with the opposite Power when you align and get that fame to 0.

The event npcs (Wilk Potskin, etc) have said in the past that the faction has no problem working with marauders, should there be a wish on your part; I assume that means RP and in actual events. However, the npc dedicated to joining Rangers has no business with a marauder.

Talk -- I believe the requirements are well-made, precisely because the nation roleplay requires you to dislike/hate one or two other nations. You're a matis citizen? Then your dislike of the unwashed savages known as "fyros" makes you very uneasy trying to save them .. or collaborate with them .. or even talk to them. Also, you are not fully comfortable working with zorais who worship that impostor god, ma-duck.

I am not sure where you read that rangers are fully neutral. Judging from the organization's behavior, they are trying to be a unifying factor, hence why they ask you to leave nation preference at the door and work with all of them instead. They already lowered fame requirements once (I think it was +20 with the powers, then the event person figured maybe 3 persons were able to join :D), if they lower them any more they will just be a catch-all organization with no distinguishing features.

That's the point, homins can now show exactly who they trust: their own government, the rangers, or no one.

Why is fame information ooc? Homins should be well aware of their standing with nations in game. Several mission givers do provide information about required fame already. I believe having this info in game is a must. Random guessing leads to frustration. We don't want an easy ryzom but we don't want a silly one either, do we?

#9 [en]

could be done very simple... "You need a good standing (30) with all races" and now you've got both the OOC number and the IC decription in one sentence...

Thank you for the suggestion and feedback regarding this!

Yio Go-Jin, Ba'duty Aepsie and Trino Lichio will all be much clearer about fame requirements from now on.

As far as Fame numbers being ooc, I would note that the rite givers for the factions and the Nations do not tell you numbers, nor do the altars when you go to buy a teleport pact. I fail to see why the missions for the rangers should be dumbed down that way.

However I am pleased to see actual response from the event team!

I don't see how providing the fame requirment to the player be consider dumbing down the exercise. The entired challenge is gaining the fame and completing the quests. As for the fame requirement for the nations, If I recall correctly the Pyr contact tells the player how much fame they need to become patriots. (but don't quote me on this as I'm not 100% sure now).

#14 [en]

they could just post it on the forums, ooc, or put it on the wiki, put it somewhere, not everyone always wants to feel things out, some ppl like a short cut every now and then.
