Hello Atys as many of you know we are trying to see more PvP inside the game besides OP battles and SN (SuperNodes) we would like to see a lot more people start to learn how to PvP and actually have some real fun with friends and enemies, So we are offering anyone that wants it some proper PVP training, base off of this pole the training sessions will scheduled.

Interesting. The arena tutorial on Silan leaves much to be desired in up-to-date practices of PvP.
I'd be interested if I ever leave Silan.

#8 Report | Quote[en]

oh wow.. the silan arena gives you nothing! if i remember rightly, all it says is "have you edited your stanzas? be sure that other people will have." - well, gee thanks.. always nice to know you're completely on the wrong track.

do people pvp there now?

when i was there i used to dig in it as it was devoid of players.

I foraged there for a couple hours before a troll came along and smacked me around until I got my F&W sword equipped. But yeah, I find Silan should be updated with just a bit more info if PvP is a mainstay of mainland player activities.
Personally, I like staying to play with newbies; always fun, and environment's casual. More of an altruistic atmosphere when there's not much to gain, and so much to give. It's what I look for in a game's community. :)

All that play style is expanded upon on the ML lucere, but in a bigger world, Silan is just a place to lose your training wheels, not to be a full pvp player :P

Quite true. Silan is little more than a place to learn the basic mechanics of Ryzom; how to edit actions, prospect/dig a node, turn bits of your fallen enemies into useful items, and figure out the meaning of the terms "agro" and "social" as they pertain to mobs.

But just as graduating Kindergarten won't prepare you for the workforce, Silan won't teach you everything there is to know about Ryzom. You need to move on, and the learning doesn't stop.

Will this "PvP School" include lesson on etiquette and learning of the rules concerning PvP and OP battles, or will you teach your 'pupils' to kill illegally at TPs including those people who were just attempting to rez who you killed or were standing around idly?

I am all for these kinds of things. I actually, along with Aleeskandaro, hold such PvP Training at the Matis Arena predominantly for the Karavan in terms of PvP skills which are incredibly useful and versatile even in ordinary gameplay.

So I would say yes to the poll - I just don't want to see the level of sportsmanship and behaviour degrade to the extent it did at the end of the last OP battle - that was not PvP - it was embarrasing.

I don't really want to start splitting hairs, but I believe spawn camping is legal, in the sense that either you're in a protected area where you can heal up and stay inattackable ... or you go out of it and you're tagged, so fair target.

Of course, just like aggro dragging it used to be completely illegal, so I see where everyone's coming from when saying this is un-sportsmanlike.

CoC, item 6.c.2 :
Spawn camping is almost impossible because of the security zone around the respawn points, and is thus allowed. If you die and your enemies are near your respawn point, you should either wait in the safe zone while regenerating or choose another respawn point/Teleportation pact to rejoin the battle.

Elv, i need not say anymore than what Mjollren did, Everything that happene at that OP was very legal else a lot of us would have been banned, Boar (CSR) was on the entire battle at TT so just stop with that nonsense. Its great Alees runs a pvp for Kara in the arena but thats not what this is... This is for people to come out learn and have some fun, or even to just watch, i know many players that dont like pvp but like watching players do it.

Mj and Lilz I am afraid you both are looking at the wrong part of the CoC. You are under "General PvP". If you look slightly up to the specific area concerning outpost battles (5b) you will see it states:

"The player who enters an Outpost battle area and chooses a side, accepts the consequences, whatever the circumstances. However, in this specific case, kills at respawn points or near a vortex are prohibited and punished if proven.

If you are under OP battle tag and you are the victim of a kill at a vortex or respawn, you can contact us through one of the ways described above. In this case, it is strongly recommended that you include a screenshot to support your claim."

The reason why you weren't banned is because people who owned screenshots didn't actually file tickets against you. You are extremely lucky in this case and had I been there anyone camping the spawn/tp after a warning would have been kicked. As such Asylum have now introduced that rule in all battles regarding our OPs. Even if I am incorrect and camping teleports is legal (which I don't believe I am), it is still bad etiquette and ruins the fun for others.

I would hope if your PvP school went ahead, you would teach people proper etiquette.
