Whatever account of mine I try to log in with, I get the error, "Connection failed. If you have just left the game then please wait 30 seconds for your previous character to be disconnected and try again." and can of course not play. I've tried updating the client (and got no new files). I've tried deleting client_default.cfg + client.cfg and updating in case one of those was causing the problem. This also happened when I tried to play a couple days ago. How can I fix this?

My ryzom apps won't even open at the moment, the icons animate then stop but I don't get a crash report. I'll try again tomorrow, I noticed some holiday decorations going up earlier today when i was online and maybe we're getting a patch soon... This probably doesn't solve your problem, but just wanted you to know you're not alone :P

Usually in cases like this one it is due to an intermediate state of the server. If it continues more than a half hour, try going to the CeB chat and asking if there is a server problem. I strongly suspect Placio's explanation is correct.

It lasted a couple days. Due to help on CeB, I discovered my VPN no longer likes Ryzom. So I just need to turn it off to play.
