Recently, we have the grim problem that digging for the camps is stagnating. As a result, the progress for many camps is stagnating, too, or stays behind that what the efforts of the bold riders could yield.

While the riders get paid for delivering mats (10k per camp), the diggers get nothing. That is different from NH as well, where faction points and dappers are paid.

I would suggest a reward of approximately 100k dappers for a delivery of 360mats, which constitutes a full mission for camp #6 in every nation. The reward would be reduced accordingly for the lower camps, preserving the proportion. That is not overly much, but enough to cover tp and pick cost, and get a small profit.

Edit: Thanks to Nuzanshi who had the idea

ich glaube nicht, das es das Problem lösen würde....

ich denke eher, es ist zuviel für sowenige Spieler, vllt müsste da die Gesamtmenge nochmals überarbeitet werden. Ist ja momentan nur mehr Frust als Lust...

Already asked the event team, can't be done because of technical issues.

A good idea, and it would be fair, too.

I've lost considerable Dappers already on this task. But to be fair: It would not motivate me any further. My motivation comes from being part of something big, and something lasting. Something that may have my name on it when it's done.

However I do agree that it is wearing me down. Whenever I'm on, I'm digging for the Lost Valley camp. Yet it's progress is very slow. Currently I manage to dig about 8-12 missions per (RL week). That is not enough to complete it any time soon. And for sure I won't be doing this until 2015.

So to me the overall question is: What's the plan of the even team and devs with this storyline?
  • Is it planned to keep this camp building phase until 2015?
  • Or will we all get a major disappointment when this is stopped with the best camps halted at 70%?
  • Or are there plans to have a special event to speed up the construction?

Back to digging now...

Don't know about other servers, but on Arispotle when we had this event ongoing, we never managed to get them completed. The swarming came we fought the Kitin, but the towers were never completed. The missions remained even after the swarming or Kitin Invasion. Some people like to refer to it as kitin invasion.

But like i said i have no clue how it went down on the other servers, so i have no idea what other outcome can be there.

half of a cake is still food i don't see why the camps have to reach 100% to be part of events (Sorry if i misunderstood irfidel hehe

- lack of craft exp for helping to build the camps makes these missions a turn-off for me

Well, if I participate in a long running event, I can accept a good chance of failure. But if failure is the only outcome right from the start, then I don't see the point. And the same is true for my character: If Irfidel senses that there's no way any camp will be completed in time, then he would spend his time in a much better way, e.g. just killing the KotD directly.

I believe after the camp building event concluded, all three servers still had packet delivery missions. On Leanon they changed in the way that the packages got lighter, so that after the building concluded (with no towers completed), one could delivery the packages without a mount or packer. Again, I believe this was identical for all three servers.

Fyranna, I don't know what Arispotle you were on, but the first time this went down the Trykers and Fyros completed all Camps and the Matis completed all but one (IIRC). There were several in Witherings that were never completed. They didn't get towers, they were just camps. Once they were completed they got guards who would help you fight incoming aggro.

However it seems to me that these camps are a *lot* harder to build than they were the first time. I remember full construction taking less than a month, and then the Tryker carriers went off to help the Matis.

The continuing tour of the camps was a way for people to make Civ Points, and I interpreted it as bringing only supplies for the troops rather than building materials so the packages were lighter.

Guards we had, but i don't remember any Towers.

There were no Towers -- as far as I know there were never supposed to be Towers.

The building of defense Towers for FH was a recent event and we actually did have Towers for a bit, but they mysteriously disappeared.

Bittty.

I confess that my character on Ari never made the touring the camps mission. Thus I cannot tell about Ari camps. But on Leanon, every complete camp had exactly 1 tower, beneath tents, guards, and fences.

Some incomplete camps had no tower, some no tents, no fences, no mektoub stable. The least equipped camps had only the overseer and a campfire, nothing else.

I think this may be another case of :

i believe the reason this event is going much slower then players from the past remember is DIRECTLY related to how fast the towers even was completed in lakes, in just a few days that even was over, and i think the dev's and event team is trying to combat that speed, however i think they raised the amount too much, the lakes even was one land with one event for the entire server, now we have a even for every region of each ecosystem, thus the shear number of locations to do it would slow it down, they didn't account for the fact that with so many options, there was no need to increase the numbers so much for the requirements to "complete" the camps.

perhaps it's time to revise this because as it stands, nothing done yet, or even very close to done. (unless this is indeed the major even planned for the next year or two.)

just my two dappers.

On the light side of life: I'd guess that at 14% the first camps get a forever-warming-campfire.

We've got to wait and see. I'm pretty sure the progress is duly noticed by the powers above, and I have good faith that there will be some plans incorporating this info and taking some action...

I took a day off from digging today, relaxing under the moonlight in the Lost Valley to observe any Mektoubs rushing by, disturbing the Gubani at play. What a pleasant evening.
