New skill: Mounting - IDEAS FOR RYZOM

Hi everyone,

Wouldn't it be awsome to have different mounts?
As the actual one is a common mob, why not use any of the mobs?
You would need a new spell to capture it and then ride it for a while to get lvls.
The higher the mob you capture, the more xp you'ld get.
Noobs would ride yubo's and masters would mount bosses, resised depending on race.

kool i want a plod mount, slow, but not easy to kill, and a plod should carry a full apt's worth of bulk or more, lolx.

+1 for the potential of the idea (cause i would mount and ride very slowy on my ryzom "fire truck")

Though a variety of Mounts would be nice, this is definately not the way i would go about it.

I would make it a new Occupation called Taming and Trapping. It would consist of 3 parts like all existing Occupations.

Part 1 = Certificate 1 Trap Mechanism. Craft ear rings, Pistols, brecelets, Rifles. q10, 20, 40, 60, etc.
Part 2 = Certificate 2 Trap Bait. Get; Bodoc pelvis, Yubo Pelvis, q10, q20, forage Cereal, Flower Petals, q10 q20,
get; Mektoub pelvis, rendor pelvis q40 and up, forage Big leaf, Insects q40 and up

Part 3 = Practice trade. Same way would have recipes etc. would reward with a TOKEN of captured animal

These tokens then could be given to the Occupation master in exchange for a mount.
5 Tokens = Mektoub Mount
15 Tokens = Rendor Mount
30 Tokens =Messab Mount
50 Tokens =Gnoof Mount

For now i would not include more, as this would be a good basis for future expansion.

Predator mounts only if they start to eat all homins and animals around when unmounted (should be fun in the stables).

madakam mount! always wanted a big green doggy

i have to agree with subo on this one though im SURE this has been asked for before and i imagine the replies are something like, no, later, maybe, cant do it, cant do it yet, too much work, we'll let you know if it can ever get done but sorry not right now

maybe it would be easier to ask for something like differnt colours on toub mounts, easier to change. in my experience you ask for something modest, which already has a good chance of implementation

(because the graphics are already invented and the following protocols, etc. i mean if i had a mount of a different shape of the normal mek mount maybe it would require some programming to make them walk around without looking all awkward, you know?)

so personally i would probably start a new post if i were interseted, new colours first. roleplay sense you could say some new species were being bred or were discovered, to explain why there is now a pink mek :P

I agree with Fyranna. Ryzom is known for its in-depth skills. I think adding taming, animal-lore, etc. would be perfect!
The only downside is....if it is too complex people will be turned away.

A similar idea, that of a Taming Occupation, was put forth some time ago: http://app.ryzom.com/app_forum/index.php?page=topic/view/16218/1. Having different mounts will not only involve as much programming as Taming would, but also additional model building and animation.

In other words, probably not going to happen due to lack of resources.
