You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.
Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

did jewels in thesos until 200ish but then.... FF and SC desert dig spots are honestly too slow for crafting (anyone who disagrees is really just wrong, if you want to level very fast in crafting desert is not the most efficient place- you CAN do it, but you shouldn't (says me))

Flaming Forest is quite ok if you're doing armors (which I did). You have fiber, sap and oil just a short walk from the Oflovak TPs, and wood + resin near Watchers; not the best spot, but usually there's a hawker (either at Watchers or in the OP) so you can at least put your stuff into temp. storage and keep digging.
