If you were going to buy an apartment in Pyr, where would you choose to live, and why?

#2 Report | Quote[en]

If you are going to live in the Desert buy it in DYRON

Why: because it's right by kami (neutral) tp and a short run from kara and mara tps

also it's only 500k instead of 1m

and there's water there

and there's nh nearby

and there's merchants not far

cant really go wrong in this location no matter who you are unless you've never been to the desert in which case, trek can be made to happen =)

I've 'lived' in Dyron from the time I first got the TP; was delighted when they introduced appts there, so I agree with Eruv and Ember, Dyron FTW! :o)

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Does Dyron have any reasonable dig spots nearby like Thesos?

i used to dig fiber bark shell up in dyron im pretty sure armor mats are there too but can only say for sure what i did, they were all close together so i did a little pike craft at my lower level dig

did jewels in thesos until 200ish but then.... FF and SC desert dig spots are honestly too slow for crafting (anyone who disagrees is really just wrong, if you want to level very fast in crafting desert is not the most efficient place- you CAN do it, but you shouldn't (says me))

however if your heart is set on the desert ,you can use the OO tp to walk into FF and it can be fairly safe if you learn it a bit, also did pike there (shell bark fiber are together) for a while. some good ammo mats are together as well near the entrance and theres seed/amber near a tribe for jewels... armor mats i cant say i know much about

but in terms of ease of access, if you are kami or neutral especially, dyron is the closest and most convenient to many things, to a tp. kara and mara are nearby too its not that far a walk, and you can still dig in other regions just fine =) (thesos, FF, or another land, then tp to dyron walk to merchant sell your stuff, or put in your apt to craft later)

I've told you before you are wrong about desert dig, just accept it and be wrong in your wrongness.

I moved to Dyron for several reasons, not least of which was I like the look of the place. :o)

It's a very good location for digging, depending on what mats you want; I was doing amps and sword mainly and found all the mats I needed short distances away. You just have to keep an eye open for Cherkin. There's also good mobs for lvling other skills, and a handy lake if you get into trouble.

At the end of the day, the location of your "home" is personal choice; Ember's advice is best, try them out first before you buy an appt. There's no need to rush unless you really need the storage.

Flaming Forest is quite ok if you're doing armors (which I did). You have fiber, sap and oil just a short walk from the Oflovak TPs, and wood + resin near Watchers; not the best spot, but usually there's a hawker (either at Watchers or in the OP) so you can at least put your stuff into temp. storage and keep digging.

For jewel crafting, I'd say go down into SC with a packer of picks and jools craft tools and you only come out when you've worn them all out. Obviously not comparable to Lost Valley in any shape or form, but hey, you brought this up in the first place.

You TP to OO? I never TP anywhere in the north of the desert, why waste dappers when you can run? There's a groove with my name on it worn between Dyron and Pyr (via Lonesome Pass and Fourways). Working on another between Dyron and FF. :o)

Another reason I picked Dyron - it's easy to run to Pyr from there on those rare occasions I need to hit the capital. With NH added I am sometimes lazy and take the quick route but if time isn't a factor I tend to run it; I love going through Lonesome Pass with Gingos and Frahar on my tail, more the merrier!

Out the the three desert locations, I think that Dyron's apartment building is the closest to the TP. The mobs outside of Thesos and Dyron are all way to high level for me. The apartments in Pyr are so far from the TP :(

I think its best to park a packer at the south Pyr Stable and either have an apartment in Dyron or Thesos. Right now I have an apartment in Thesos and it seems really good (some close friends from my guild live there). However, the run from the TP is pretty far and there is not much water to escape into if I pick a fight with something too big, so perhaps someday I will move to Dyron.
