too sad about how this turned out and honestly quite personally offended and hurt to leave any of my posts up here, i feel that it should be possible for me to request the removal of this post but i understand that it cannot be removed unless it violates the CoC

the best i can do is say

"You may not disrupt the MMORPG game experience of another player."

because i feel that ideas of others have been quite forcibly pushed upon me, as a person. the nay-sayers are very adamant on their views, so much so that it does not really matter what i, or perhaps anyone else thinks because by god, it will be beaten into the mud and interpreted in the worst possible light by some writers

if this be the case, i take the only action available to me, i am now emptying all my replies and i ask that anyone else who is wiling to honor my request remove their reply as well, anyone who is not, well, dont let me finish that because ive been asked not to get banned :P

all the fun has been sapped out of me today i dont even want to stay logged in now, i dont want to continue to post on the forums, perhaps i will change my mind at some point. if you think i am over-reacting or soft, that is your right but i am a person and i have the right to my feelings and i feel they have been trampled under-foot

my MMORPG experience has been severely disrupted today and even if this was not intentional, it does not say you may not intentionally disrupt :P im going to go get my whiskey now and leave this to rot

I want to thank arfur for his reply and also talkirc for his support even though i think it was over the top :)

some times if you want to make a positive change you must remove yourself from the gloomy negativity that will pull everything down into the darkness, so , see ya! not going to try to be reasonable with anyone who clearly wont budge one inch

(honestly it's not that bad but you know, it feels like that for the first 10 minutes :D)

Totally disagree. Deliberately death porting is the easy option for travelling and should have a penalty. For example, you would remove the challenge and FUN of moving from from Big Shell to Dung in SC, in a mad dash to dig while sups are up. It is a players choice whether to align nor not. I'm whining, Eruv, but much of fun of the game is challenge of moving around without dying. And yes I do feel proud of the fact that I have learned to move about the game without dying every 5 mins. When I get to going 6 mins without dying I will feel even more proud. It is an individual players choice to align, end of. The game is meant to be hard. Dying is fun.

Don't deliberately suicide -- run for it. If you make it, great! If you don't make it.. then go to the respawn point.

I suppose you could become a Marauder and get special Zinuakeen crystals. (Don't count on Rangers making it easy to get around. "Rapid paths" have been promised, but not teleports. :)

Well, invent a lore way to have people spawning at vortexes and you'll have a point. I would **love** to have a spawn between all Lakes regions too, especially for BB / Fount .. if you trek and you die, that's a lot of distance to cover again.

so a new spawn point with a time penalty instead of a death penalty or have both?
could do a sort of crystal idea like the marauders have - "no crystals - no use of the spawn point".

I have questions for all the RP players:

Why does everything have to revolve around YOUR play style?

Why can't ANYONE but RP ever have a good idea in this game?

Why are you so selfish that you can't see that others like to play differently?

Why is it that your way is the ONLY way you ever want to support?

so do me a favor RP players, try and put the selfish ways aside and be positive for a change. if you don't like an idea, that's fine, if you offer good reasons for not liking it.

personally i like the sneek around method, i'm pinching dappers untill i get all the "crisis proof" achievements, thus i don't tp anymore then i have to, but often a death port is going to happen if your sneek method doesn't work, this isn't likely to be something i, personally, would use, but i'm not so closed minded and selfish that i can't see that SOMEONE OTHER THEN ME might want something.

Many times now i've supported ideas that were optional even if i wouldn't use it, or didn't like it, but hey i guess i'm the only guy in ryzom (besides eruv i guess) that is willing to support ANY OPTIONAL additions to the game, from what i read of the #1 post on the thread i don't have to use this, but it's there IF i want to, so with that being said, if this isn't something you would use, you don't have to be selfish and say that it's bad, you can simply be like me, mr. helpful, and CHOOSE not to use it IF it's there, and for anyone thinking that they would be tempted to use it if it was there, show us your an adult with self control and don't go on about temptation, that's what i expect from very young kids like my son; adults SHOULD have better self controll then that.

also, i don't think this idea was aimed for the death and respawn system, this is a new option all together something like a tp, kept in your bag, or a system like NH where you have to talk to a npc and go through 5 menus to do something simple like port to xxx respawn point, but you will loose all your sap, stamina, focus when you do (keep the hp, loose the rest, you then have to wait for them to fill back up, but you can then run to whatever location defenseless because all you have is HP) or this service will cost you 25,000 dappers (much more then pr tp's) or this: for 15 minutes real time you will gain no xp, the xp you would have gained will be divided to the two factions, because they share the power to respawn. (so it would work like a dp, but be a fixed amount of time that you gained no xp so that the penalty is the same for a lvl 2 toon and a lvl 250 toon)

but as always i've said a mouth full already. i just want all the NOT WILLING TO SUPPORT ANYTHING players this: I, talkirc, personally, will never use something like this, but i'll still offer my thoughts and ideas to it, as well as my support because this would be OPTIONAL CONTENT and i think that anything optional is the EXACT IDEA OF A SANDBOX GAME.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

I've never seen the point of deliberately dying just so you can get across a region.  Why not try sneaking it first; If you die, you go to the respawn point anyway so you have nothing to lose, and you might gain some valuable skills or at least see some scenery you would otherwise have missed.
