Hi
I have a question. I started a few weeks ago, and I'm enjoying the game. I'm still at Silan, because I wish to learn a few things before the great step. I love crafting and try to do some experiences. I craft jewels because it's easy (only 2 kind of mat). Here at Silan, to craft jewels, I just have the best mats at jungle, Q45 Fine, or buying basic Q50 at merchant. I can use HP boost at crafted jewels so the best I can craft is Fine Q45 with 22 HP. However (and now he big question), I see (at least) 2 guys, crafting jewels, Q45 with 25 HP. How they get that boost extra? Because when I craft it with plan of Q50, the mats of 45, reduces the boost of 25 to 22 HP. I try craft naked, or using LA. Using HA, of course it reduces Q45 to Q43 and maybe I get a boost to 23 HP... Anyone can explain that to me please?
Thank you

the answer is hidden in your post my friend. it's a well guarded secret of those of us that like to craft, but i'll give you a hint that you've tried it already and need to try it again, degrades are common and happen to the best of us.

I don't see the answer to his question.
A bonus is of half rounded down the quality of the item at max, unless the use of some OP tool, which is of course impossible in Silan.
Thus, to have a bonus of 25, the quality of the item has to be 50, at least.

There is a way to gain the boosts as described above on Silan. It involves the use of malus and can allow a full q50 boost on items of q45. It is known among crafters how to accomplish this and Jefeluis is on the right path to learn the answer. I used the "trick" myself while crafting armor on Silan before coming to the mainland.

you mean " crafters of long enough gaming experience know how to exploit this bug " ?

I disagree that this is a bug. It is a property of crafting under certain conditions and comes with a price in terms of focus consumption as well as max q of the crafting. The plus in boost is not free. I rather consider that a feature, a "crafting secret".

correct this "secret" is not a bug at all, though anyone that doesn't know the secret would think it was a bug, it's just one of the more well kept secrets of crafters, we don't willingly give it away as no one gave it to us, just hinted at it as we all have, keep learning the game and you will learn the secrets.

now there are many keywords that you can use through all these posts that will give you even more direction.

as a rather new to crafting crafter, i learned this little secret by accident, and have since sought out master crafters to make sure it wasn't a bug i would loose the use of, it's just a secret, and when one has friends and tries to learn things on their own, they are rewarded with secret surprises, not everything you can do in ryzom is posted somewhere to just look up, that would be giving us back the cookie my quote speaks of. try a little to learn it feylin, it's a nice little secret, but respect the crafters and don't just post and share with the world. i help everyone and i give hints to some of the better secrets, because we learn nothing if we are handed everything. (though being handed a few more dappers isn't bad.)

bottom line, not everything you don't know but someone else does, is a bug to exploit, they just learned it or found it much like me by accident.

Yes, but you don't need to even 'exploit' it until you're 250 anyway... There is only gains with certain items to do it this way anyway, not a big deal.

Secret discovered.

Well, being benefical is not enough in my eyes to be called a feature rather than a bug.
Something supposed to be a drawback turns into a benefit, it's all i see. When something is not as expected, pardon me to see it as a bug.

Um... Feylin,  there is a saying in English: "If life hands you lemons, make lemonade."  That's what people are doing with this quite open secret.

What is certain is that this "secret knowledge" goes back at least as far as Game Forge (*ptui*) days, is known to CSRs, devs and the like, and that no one has been punished for using it.  Therefore it is not an "exploit of a bug" but rather "the use of a 'negative' feature in a positive way."

I am fairly sure that the original devs did not forsee the positive uses of the consequences of this mode of crafting, but I am equally sure that given the complexity of the crafting system that they did not forsee some other "secrets of crafting".  Certainly some of the recipies for some items are "not as expected" and you are not calling them bugs.  Atys is full of surprizes.

I hate to admit it, but this is the best thread on this forum since a long time: I don't have a clue what you're talking about right now, I don't have the time to figure it out right now and I hate to not being able to login right now *g* I just love non-spoiling "knowledge sharing"

#13 Report | Quote[en]

it's one of the first times i've not seen someone just give away complete knowledge of something, and i'm sure that by now our new young homin has found the secret out, as he's not replied anymore to us.

and here here bitty. not everything that works good is a bug, but rather a surprise if you can find a little trick that all and all can be helpful without hurting the game play, after all, how could one hope to get the gear in "achievements" without this little trick as well as OP tools and occ products? (armor with 165 hp boost for example)

but any way, whoot whoot on a well kept open secret.

Talkirc, I didn't reply early, because I was enjoying this discussion. :) As I see, all world of Atys is full of surprises, and crafting, is a patiente game. I didn't achieve my goal yeat, but I think I know the answer, with your hints and help. Now, like any profession that requires patience, nothing to do, as we do with science, with the old game "trial and error" until we get the results and answers that we want. Thank you all guys.
