Yesterday I logged in and was greeted with the event message to collect some items for the construction of the watch towers in FH. When I approached the contact he informed me of what was needed. I was disappointed that what he required was way above my skill capacity. So I asked why the events are aimed at high level players? I was told that in the past when requesting lower quality items the high level players would turn these items in quickly. So in other words high level players nerf the lower level players from events.

I understood the problem. I wanted to help and the Event Player suggested I could help by CP'ing for a high level player. I was not completely out of luck, I was able to CP for a guilder who helped me collect the items - but the only reason he participated was because I kidnapped him. I pulled him away from harvesting Supreme materials for an hour, and when we finished collecting the items the contact was gone. Needless to say I felt very guilty by the end.

I feel we can improve these events to be more inclusive. I feel we should have more options to include everyone in events regardless weather the player is a roleplayer or not and has low or high level skills. The idea of events is to entertain the players and I see no room for exclusivity based on skill levels or RP style. The more involve we can get players participating in events the greater these events become.

The lack of information was also an issue for me because I found nothing on the forums about yesterdays event. Had I known in advance maybe I could have planned it better with friends and guilders and possibly even gotten more people involved. I could have had F2P guilders join in the fun too, something which I think helps the game in the end, because a player that is having fun in game will likely subscribe.

Right now information is lacking - we don't know how much of the materials are needed, and a high level player with too much free time can easily find these items and turn them in over and over shadowing everyone else. My suggestions are:

1) Add a limit to the amount of items ONE player can submit - this will allow other players who spend their time collecting these items not feel like they wasted their time. Adding a limit per player will help with suggestion #2.

2) Allow for lower quality items to be submitted too - so that you can include every player regardless of skill levels. Plus not everyone is a Lake or PR forager, but they will at least have harvest at 50 allowing even a 200 forest forager harvest PR or Lake mats at Q50. And even allow a Lake forager who may be below 200-250 to participate. Even a refugee coming to mainland can participate simply by allowing lower materials to be collected. Because of rule #1 even if a high level player decides to harvest for lower quality, it will not nerf a lower player from participating.

3) Make a public list of the players who have participated in this event, this way you can list how much has been collected and by whom.

4) Keep us inform on the forums as well. Tell us how long we have to collect these items. List the days and time the collector will be available to collect items. This way players can organize teams, and even guilds can make collecting these items a guild activity for their low level players, especially those who are new to the game.

This is not a complain but my 2c to help on what I found was a problem for low level players wanting to participate.

Good, constructive criticism, Appletini.

Got the same feeling yesterday night: When I first saw the message, I felt first confused (watchtowers? when was that announced?), then happy (yay, an event!), the sad (lvl200? seriously?). I like your suggestions because some of it can be easily done.

I saw the announcement last night (and managed to make a small donation), and I chatted with the Material Collector.  Apparently the Defense Tower Initiative was passed at the last general assembly of the Taliari in Fairhaven (back in July IRL) and is just now being implemented.  There is supposed to be an automated collection NPC set up soon.  That's what I know about the event so far.

Appletini -- this was a wonderfully cogent, carefully thought out and worded posting.  I really hope that the Event planners read it.

Just a thought: If it's a tower-building exercise, maybe next time they could let high level harvesters harvest good stuff, but let lower level people "put it together".  I'm not sure how that would work in detail, but maybe have a special crafting window at a building site?  Homins open it and work with the materials (in the ratio collected, of course). As certain thresholds are passed the appearance of the building site changes?

Some CSR?  Moving this thread to the Suggestions section might be a reasonable idea, too. :)

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback and ideas about the current Tryker event, they'll help us to improve our next ones. The digging event for the towers building is only beginning, and a (late) announcement has just be written by the Event Team. It will be posted as soon as translated.

i have also found that sometimes they request things above the lower and mid lvl players, sure i've played a long time, but i'm not much of a digger, and as such i could also not help, perhaps they could set it up so that the npc will take mat's (in the future, like you said apple) of all Q's in lvl blocks much like the skill tree it's self, so it takes X number of Q10 to 50, x number from Q60 to 100, x number from Q110 to 150, x number from Q160 to 200, and x number from 210 to Q250. also with this they could make the lowest level numbers require the highest because even a master digger can dig Q50 mats, thus the very active master can help build down the Q's from highest to lowest, this would allow any player of any level to take part in the event at his or her current levels, as well as help with the lower level blocks if the higher one's are already filled.

sorry my thoughts are not as pretty as apple's or quite as nicely, but i'm always in a hurry to get to the next thing. and so my thoughts while good, might be a little sloppy but are none the less directly to the point (most of the time)

Thank you for the reply Tamarea, and everyone else for understanding that I'm not complaining but trying to find a well rounded idea to improve the event.
