I'd agree to those who'd want this only for "normal aggro". I'd happily accept a resemblance to real life here.For example, Gingo, Ragus, Varynx might be kept away.

Higher level monsters, named bossed might be drawn to it. Ocyx or Kipestas who show some affinity to fire might be lured to it even more than others. They may be thinking another one of their own is fighting because of the flames... Bandits might be drawn to it if someone starts camping in the vicinity.

In any case the range of the "safe" area should be relatively small. There should be a reason why a camper should be still afraid. Some aggro might be circling the fire in fear. But if they know of a ranged attack it could still launch that one.

There's lots of possibilities, some require a decent amount of software development to be implemented. All of this requires some thought about game balance. Like it has been said before: If campfires implement a naive safe-haven for all, people start doing it in the Kitin Nest...

more on drawing aggo with the campfire, i agree on keeping away cat and dog like aggo, just the normal one's, not named or boss, and further, bugs are drawn to light, so it would make sense that a campfire would be useless to keep bugs away and would in fact do just the oppisite, i don't think any kittin should fear the fire, they're mindless killers after all.

but there's another of my 2 cents on this matter, and in this economy 2 cents won't buy you anything, more less pay the taxes on something you do buy, lolx.

and i take no offence to words, however they're used, i take it all in good fun, but i'm one on a tree of many, so if i say something that offends i'm sorry as well.

guess the cat like aggo is gonna be drawn to the fire's too, lolx, oh well, i live in the jungle most of the time, so i'm more worried about the dumb dogs anyway, but the bug's could be an issue if they are drawn to the light, so it could be a win/loose deal there too.

true atys is giving and taking all the time.
Being able to place a campfire and be certain to be safe wouldn't be atys at all.
You would need to have a look around you explore the area you are in and see what agressive mobs are around you only after that you could decide to put up a campfire or when it better to sleep in the dark.
