Old Cast Animations - IDEAS FOR RYZOM

As some of the older players know there were different cast animations before the ones that we currently have, I believe that it would be a neat idea to try to bring back one or two of these animations at first in a sort of "trial run" to see if they're liked or not still, and then if they are they could be kept by the dev's so im thinking that we should have a poll on whether or not we should try one or two spells in replacement. At this time i would like to notify all that the poll feature is not working

I have tried the heal and fire old animations .. they look interesting, would be nice to have a selection, an option between the current ones and previous.

If I remember right, it's simply a matter of copying some files into the correct place in the Ryzom folder. I have a zip of those files on my desk top at home. I'll try it out later and let you know.

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

They do work, I think I just have ones for fire and heal spells, judging by the file names. You can basically turn them 'on' and 'off' by adding or removing the files from a folder.

Yes, a lot of people - including myself - have the fire and heal phoenix, it is a nice appearance and useful for locating things in the game. It would be nice to have more of them, and for that the dev's would need to release a client update for the kind users of Ryzom.

I guess it all depends if any other animation files exist anywhere. If they did, they could just put them on an ftp somewhere and let us 'install' them ourselves.

I can't see anything happening if no-one has the other old animations.

I'm all for this - I just found some old video teasers for the Beta launch and some of the old animations are on there, but before this I had no idea there were any different animations.

It would be nice to have them used at random, so when you cast a spell you don't know which of 2 or 3 animations you are going to get. This would take extra coding though so may not happen.

Is it possible to find a very old version of ryzom to download? maybe unpatched although i highly doubt it,
If it is possible then maybe we can check the data of the old ryzom's otherwise the animations will be lost forever,
I would really appreciate having the animations for experience.

I recently picked up a copy of the original 2-disc CDROM from 2004, just for the laughs, but if you let me know what files to look for, I can try installing it from the CDs and seeing if they're there.

The original cast animations were replaced during beta, well before the boxed CD was available.
