I just started playing Ryzom, never even knew it existed.

I am Having a BLAST

But it's obvious that new players are needed in a big way.

So how about a referral program?

Invite a friend get 1k daps. Invite 10 friends, get special matts, etc.

Seriously. I think it would be a good idea.

I also have some solid ideas for some monetization that I know this game needs.

Just not sure how to get in touch with some staff that would be able to make those choices.

Maybe with a few conditions, for instance the referred person should have more than X hours logged and/or X level when you sum up their skills, before the person referring them gets the bonus. The idea is pretty good, just that it's easily trickable :)

I think it would be good to have a two tiered referral bonus.

1. If your referral completes the Silan missions (the final Chiang the Strong mission to kill the Dominant Kirosta being the required achievement), you get the tier 1 bonus. Make it something neat, but ultimately not worth the effort to abuse. In fact, you could make it something to encourage continuing to help the new player, say 100-200 q100 excellent generic mats.

2. If on the other hand your referral becomes a subscriber, then you get the good reward. Something not tradeable that's at least useful at any level. Maybe a 0 bulk q250 tool of your choice or something. Something that's nice, but not too unbalancing if someone manages to get a bunch of them.

Making the good reward require subscription wouldn't necessarily stop anyone from abusing it, but I'm inclined to say that if anyone really wants to give that much money to our hosts, let em!

I believe a competition was held to see who could refer the most people and there were some pretty decent prizes such as a years free subscription.

I like the idea of an on-going referral program as long as people couldnt scam it- for example maybe a new IP address has to be used for the new player?
