First things first, I am running the Ryzom client on an install of Arch Linux. I built it using the package found here. Whenever I am at the login screen, the following buttons do nothing. Running 'ryzom' in the terminal brings up this error message when I click some buttons: "Failed launched: No such file or directory." These buttons give me the error:

Upgrade Account
Forgotten Password
Edit Account
Support
Game Configuration

Pressing 'Create Account' gives me an error in a popup that reads "Can't send (error code 60)" and in the terminal I get a readout that says "* Protocol https not supported or disabled in libcurl"

I am able to play the game with no problem, but a part of me wants to fix these errors in case they affect the game further for me. Does anyone know what I can do to fix these errors?

I have also found that whenever I press "Scenario Editor" in the character selection screen, it fades to black and comes back to the selection screen. I am new to this game with a free account. Is this normal? I have no readout in terminal about this. I just want to be sure that I have a proper install of this game. Thank you!

scenario editor is what used to be called the ring. The ring is currently dead, due to shortage of money for servers, which is why you cannot access it from login screen. The rest I have no clue about, not high on linux meself.

Not a solution, but you don't (never will) need them. The first 4 you mentioned open a browser with some deep links into ryzom.com. The last one runs another application from the ryzom directory, i think it's config_ryzom_rd or similar.

Disclaimer: I have not worked with Arch Linux and do not know how it installs ryzom on your pc.

Try to find the install directory. Possibly some /usr/games/ryzom or /usr/share/ryzom or similar, or /opt/ryzom. If you have found it, open a terminal (xterm, console, ...).

Then change into the directory. For example type: cd /opt/ryzom

Verify if it looks like the game. E.g. type: ls -1
You should get a listing such as:

animation.dbg
cache
cfg
client.cfg
client_default.cfg
client.log
data
during_release
error_join.log
examples
item_association.dbg
log.log
ryzom_client
ryzom.desktop.in
ryzom_install_desktop_menu.sh
ryzom_uninstall_desktop_menu.sh
ryzom_update.sh
save
screenshots
unpack
user

Do not be too concerned if there's one file or the other missing or different. This is not a fresh install.

Then run the updater: sudo ./ryzom_update.sh

It may be that it cannot connect. Since a few days, the rsync update server seems to be down.

Try to connect to the game, by typing: ./ryzom_client

Let us know if this works for you or where it fails.

I was able to find the directory under /opt/ryzom. Running

sudo ./ryzom_update.sh

Gave me:

rsync: failed to connect to www.ryzom.com (178.33.225.92): Connection refused (111)
rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(122) [Receiver=3.0.9]

Running ./ryzom_client worked fine, but the errors for those options still exist.

Maybe your client.cfg file don't give the right path...

have a look at ~/.ryzom/client.cfg , if the first line is: RootConfigFilename = "/opt/ryzom/client_default.cfg"

I have no file at ~/.ryzom/client.cfg. I made a backup of /opt/ryzom/client.cfg and edited client.cfg, making the change you said, and still nothing. I'm not sure what's going on yet. It's still playable, but a part of me wants this to be fixed so I know that there are no future problems.

i download the file from the source in post one, extract it and all buttons will work without the error "no such file or directory"... execpt the create account botton.

Maybe you should download the file again? Its also possible that the problem is your browser, these buttons just open a link?

Re post #6: It seems this is what everyone currently sees on linux. Did anybody have a successfull rsync connect for the linux updater in the past three days?

#12 Report | Quote[en]

no rsync is failing here too

I reinstalled and I'm still in the same spot as before...I'm not sure what to do now :( Meh

#14 Report | Quote[en]

a idea is to check if the Browser is the reason... try the x-www-browser command in a terminal

have you just reinstalled or download the file again too?
