Hm, there's an alternative to the Apple Store:

Basically you follow kervala's instructions there in downloading the zip, then running the upgrade.
In post #9 you menioned running v2.0.0. I believe the latest version is 2.1.0. The game auto-updates itself only on Windows. Us Linux users and you Mac folks must manually update by running an upgrade script.

It often happened that the version in the Mac Store lagged behind the update procedure. So maybe installing outside of the Mac Store, kervala's version, and running that update script yourself helps.

The second reason why I think it may help is that it may (I don't know since I cannot test) install into a different location. So another chance to start from a clean slate :-)

but thank you for directing me to that site. i have lost track of what i have downloaded and from where.. i'm currently installing ryzom again from the app store as i may have buggered it up the last few time by not deleting every file associated before downloading again. i found a site detailing the manual update (may have even been that site) and i pasted the code into a window (i can't remember which) from the terminal thing and it ran a huge lengthy update through 284 files.. the game worked briefly after that but then i ran into the same problem about 10 mins later when it crashed again and wouldn't log back on.

the exact same problem seems to have happened to another player recently after the apple update to OS x mountain lion 10.8.3... i don't know enough about the update itself to pinpoint what has gone wrong.
