Every time I log in since the patch, my view is zoomed right in as if I'm in first person view. I'm definitely not because the screen jumps slightly when I hit v.

I normally play with the screen zoomed out slightly but it seems to be forgetting this every I log off. Same if I log in with my alt.

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Mine does that, too. Both computers. It's a bit annoying.

Both mine and my wife also have that problem too.

as far as I know there is an option for that in the client.cfg .
I am currently at work an will post the complete name when I get home.

There is an option named FPV, maybe this one helps in your case.
Otherwise you could try playing around with CameraDistance, CameraDistMax and AutomaticCamera.

The point is, pre-patch, it used to REMEMBER the zoom setting, now it just re-sets to almost fully zoomed in each time I log in.

What Neela said.  You didn't have to fix it each time.

I had noticed this, but thought it was just my bad memory.  On the other hand I know that it's not my bad memory that chat windows for people I have chatted with before are now reappearing in the center of the screen rather than at their previous location.  Again, the client (server?) used to "remember" the  previous location.

As long as I'm logged in a new box to the same person appears whereever I put it, but once I've logged off that knowledge is missing.

Neither of these are biggies, just that it's a change from status quo ante.

Indeed, not a biggie but annoying all the same, just letting people know so they can fix in the next patch. ;o)
