I hate this new economy personally, That is my opinion. Every time i log on i am thinking of how to make dappers, and having a real HARD time doing it, if i wanted to do that I would go out and get a job in real life! It has changed the game, and to me it is less enjoyable. I play this game to escape real life, not to replicate it!
Your thoughts please? (I would creat a poll, but im not sure how to do it)

I like it. Dapper still come by easy, just the focus has changed. I found the most efficient way to get dappers is doing missions now. Hunt, forage or craft for overseers of tribes and towns give you up to 400k a mission. Which equals 40 of the most expensive tps. If you can't craft or hunt that high, ask a guildmember to help you ;)

I don't know of anyone who really *likes* it.

As far as I'm concerned (as I have often expressed) it has failed at the stated goals of the changes.  Dappers are easy to get for high level toons and nearly impossible for low level toons unless they do mission after mission. Even high levels have to concentrate on making dappers to support their other habits (like rescues, tours, etc.).

There are some other, subtler changes that were made and I don't like them either.  Crafting tools, in addition to the problem of ranking and the expense of high level ones, wear out a LOT faster than they used to. (The exception appears to be picks which wear at near the old rate.)  This makes it even harder to make dappers by crafting.

The fact that OP materials and crafting of OP tools is broken adds to the mess.

Oh -- you wanted feelings.

Nope, Mr. Atys, I don't like it.

I like what they were trying to do but it's really tough on people who hate digging. It feels like the extra crowd has pretty much wiped out some of the simple distractions I used to enjoy (boss hunting) and I can't roam much because I run out of dappers too fast.

If this is going to work the game needs more content asap. There's nothing left to keep me logged in but digging or the occasional OP war.

In short, my feelings toward the current economy are very meh at the moment. My caveat, though, is it's possible we could balance it with giving some of us non diggers something decent to do. Hint: Make bosses ridiculously tough if you're going to leave the same amount and spawn times...or at least add some crazy bosses with rewards other than sup mats (sap crystals, cats for f2p, dappers, excel mats, titles, eggs, etc etc etc etc).

Probably going against the trend here^^

I like it! Gives me motivation to grind craft as you get dappers and the lvls. Provides at least to me a more social place as I know a few ppl within the guild have put ourselves out there to aid others and team then craft for them. There are some juicy missions out there and I know in a lot of cases low for high mats have been exchanged especially when trying to increase fames with tribes.

Blimey you only need to do about 2 missions in avendale or any of the 250 shop zones for best part of 200-500k dappers, thats a lot of tp's by anyones standards

But yes I do agree it seems to be tiered up for higher lvl crafters yet many good missions require just one skill 100-150+

Crafy, Arc --

Part of the reason that I don't like it (aside from those reasons already stated) is precisely because the current economy favors those with high crafting skills, but without a reasonably profitable way to achieve those high crafting skills.

Grr, looking hour to find a hunter in void then running around doing his missions for like 20k a piece if you have a good day you can make about 200k this way as a hunter. But that takes around 2h finding 2hunters and doing their missions.

No I don't like the economy anymore it just forces me in doing stupid missions over and over again to the point I don't login anymore. The sub of my reckless alter ego runs out soon and that one is not gonna be resubbed because of economy. If I want to play a missions based game I'll go play guild wars 2 wich seems to have intresting missions that are dynamic and even dynamic events. The mission system in Ryzom is just 8years old and feels to much like a repitive job. I never did most of the rites in the past because I found em boring already and now I'm forced to do even more boring missions that don't give me any story and is just every day the same except the hunters move around.

Chances are that I won't be resubbing Suboxide anymore once his sub runs out either. It's sad but that's the way I feel.

Agree totally, they missed the mark completely. It has not rebalanced the economy at all, it now favours those who can craft at higher levels. Hunter missions need to give better rewards for an equivalent number of mats.

Was initially shocked by the new system, especially the cost of buying tools, but am getting used to it.

Seeing alot of posts stating "its easy for high end crafters" well I think alot of people lost track of the concept "no pain no gain" because with regard to funds we were in easymode before.

I think you're missing the point though. I'm not saying that the economy didn't need fixing, I'm saying they didn't fix it. It still favours certain players over others, certain styles of play over others. It isn't balanced at all.

I agree with Crafy here for the most part. It gives me a reason to dig and grind craft at least now :)
the only thing I disagree is the fact that it favors the high lvl crafters. You can do missions in e.g. thesos which only require lvl 160-170 in craft, which is not impossible to achieve. Sure it will require some digging or focused hunting, but this also gives a purpose to your hunt trips instead of just exp.

I think it is more a matter of adjusting your game style a bith. Switching from hunting solemnly for exp, to also focused hunting on specific mobs for the mats can help you a great deal. Might give you less hunting exp, yet this will be covered by your chance to get more mats/craft lvls/daps/...

So like I said, I like it! It gives me a purpose to do the "grind". You can receive rewards for your hard work on the lvls now. And at least now dappers have a value and are not handed out by the millions anymore.

Actually, I have no reason to complain about the economy. And I do not understand many of the complaints. Granted, you have to craft in order to get dappers (all the rest is insignificant). But it is your choice whether concentrating on hunting or digging. I am doing both, looting a lot when exploring or just making my way.

And yes, high level crafters are rewarded most. For me, it is an incentive not to neglect my weaker craftings such as several melee weapons other than swords and daggers, heavy and medium armor. The business gives me some levels every day, i like it. And even my alt, traditionally weak in crafting, is doing some missions, proving that the levels below 200, and even below 100, have some decent opportunities, too.

As the crafting missions are fame related, I have to switch my business soon, from desert to the other countries, in order to collect those gains. Better than standing in queue at bandits and getting upset about queue breakers.

There has always been some grind. Before, I had my 1-3 touring the camps a day (I sadly miss them), and grinding for occupation certs in order to get cats (and to some extent potions which I traded for op mats and other). Life was never easy for independent neutrals. I am now relieved from running for cats (not that I am absolutely happy about) and not yet fit for crafting max potions (no prob as the ext occs are not in place yet). And almost surely I shall never be a trillionaire anymore.

I would welcome any reasonable proposal how to improve the new economy. But I feel most of the complaints being highly exaggerated.

Personally I like it, because of lots of things already said. I planned on doing some more digging and crafting before the shutdown anyway, so that motivation got a boost.

Generally I very much dislike the fact that if I read in the forums about the economy lot of people argue they suddenly have to do things that they didn't want to do.

The second point is that it seems that individuals try to get through this crunch on their own. But this observation again is based just on forum posts. I'm not in a guild myself (for several reasons, one is rp of the character), so I have not really insight in how much guildies help each other in the new economy versus the old ones.

Maybe you could shed some light onto the question if the teamplay inside and outside of guilds has increased or decreased due to the new economy.

The obvious point here is that as a guildless neutral since there's much less really good material circulating in the economy, there are no more generous gifts (which I don't mind, actually).

So its 3 points to me:
- Personally like the temporary focus on digging and crafting to get through the crunch
- Generally dislike people being forced to craft
- Dislike perceived bigger "everybody for himself" mentality
