utc time is the same as GMT time right? so either way i'm +5 hours, since it's hard to give a time list brake down that would tell us the event start time in our local time zone, i know there's only 24 of them and goodness it would take a long time to type 24 lines with the time zone name and the time of the event start in that time zone, lolx. hell, dappers are so hard to get now that would be a way to offer some to someone wiling to take the 10 minutest to make a simple list(, should be worth 10,000 dappers for the trouble, lolx.)

Talkirc --

If you're viewing this in Firefox (at least) there is an autocorrect/translte to the timezone that you set in your Options.

And yes, Universal time and Greenwich Mean Time are the same.

Talkirc, if you are in the USA then I think you are UTC -5 and not +5.

This may help

or this
http://www.timeanddate.com/time/map/

Hope that helps.

Also note:

EDT is GMT -4. EST (shortly to be the case) is GMT-5. GMT does not do "daylight savings" so when we do it, it changes our offset. Being on the left coast of the USA I am currently on GMT-7, soon to be on GMT-8.

Yeah - time zones are a weird thing (esp. with DST in some regions and in different times of the year depending on the hemisphere)

GMT = UTC

But GMT is usually only used during winter or in regions without DST...

In the UK they use BST (British Summer Time) during summer and otherwise GMT
But they will always say that they're using GMT (even in Summer)

Same goes for the US - usually they only say Eastern, Central or Mountain Time (are there others?)
but in reality there's a difference (as pointed out by bitty) there are Eastern Daylight Time and Eastern Standard Time but I'm always seeing EST mentioned - even during summer where it's EDT in reality.

Getting rid of DST would be the best option in my opinion but I doubt that will happen any time soon...
In the mean time stating the time zone as GMT +/- X (including the active DST if the case thereof) would be the best practice

eg. I've currently got CEST = GMT +2 (or GMT +1 + DST) in 3 weeks it'll be without the DST though so it'll be CET ;-)

The Events Forum was created long ago as a RP IC forum for the posting of Events, with the recommendation that all Homins set the forum to Watch in order that they may get alerts with each post so as not to miss out on an event.

Comments on the events should be made to the Events OOC forum, so as to not generate false alerts.
