Don't have the levels? Earn 'em. Then go do the missions.

Don't like missions? Find another way to make money. It's a big world with few restrictions and you're bright enough to be able to read this. You can figure out how to make your dappers if you don't like missions.

Just want the cash handed to you? Good luck with that. I'm not doing it. Maybe some other sucker will, but I won't.

In sum, the new economy means one thing - a little bit of work. So get out there and do it already, because the whining got old October 2. -bp

now u should tell the ways to make dapper ?? only ways i see is doing Missions over and over again or Digging and Crafting ...thats 2 ways of getting dappers ... so my choice is .. spending my game and level time for doing missions for dappers that i need... or do i things in game which makes me fun....like hunting...digging...helping new players .. only sitting and chatting or doing guild stuff or some things with my friends ... oh yea ... so much choices to vote... hmm i vote for the fun and not for doing mission over and over again which makes no fun at all.... when U want to do those missions then do ... but everyone has an own playstyle and nobody absolutly NOBODY can tell me how i should play this game...im sure nearly half atys dun fits the new economy system...maybe they dun have that much time to play and what should they do with the bit playtime?? only missions and no fun ??? cool thats a nice future for a game where u cant do anymore what u want...Ryzom was Unique in this point..IT WAS

economy 101: finite resources for infinite needs... I'd say this whole economy downscale is just a hicup till we get back to old economy.i'd say it will take a month or two to get adjusted, since resources in atys arent exactly finite and crafting is something any1 can do ( being good at it is another thing)

I agree with lexius, ill do what looks fun to me and do what i can to get a few dappers the fun way

I never complained a hunter build had it hard enough to make dapper already. So the ppl you speak of are some, and now some others complain for who the game has become a mission grindfest just to be able to survive. (can get 300k for craft missions but at the same place 10k-20k if lucky for a hunt mission)

I gotta agree with Subo on this one. I like that dappers are worth more now, but I still think it should be balanced in such a way that a hunter-only build can still be a viable option. As it is now, you cant survive on hunting alone to be able to cover your TPs and other basic needs. I dig and craft, but I liked that Ryzom was able to cater to different playstyles.

Plus this whole dependency on missions is not very good for me. You should be able to get similar values from selling loot and crafts to regular merchants. I know they want to make missions more useful, but making them the ultimate optimal path to wealth is no good. Takes options away from people. Plus the missions are boring and uninspired (except the rite and sage missions, ofc - those are great).

Just my opinion.

Doing tasks for the civilizations, tribes, and factions should be profitable, and those tasks shouldn't pretend to be unique or terribly important. But 1) freedom of choice has always been a core feature of Ryzom, and 2) I do feel that something is lacking in the missions. Courier missions are the most like what I imagine these groups of homins would need done, but they're not attractive (sometimes because the item weighs a lot, sometimes because the mission is timed, sometimes because you're carrying things to a wandering NPC in a very dangerous part of a distant region for too little reward).

Have to say good job they did last night in the event. Crafters make up to 300k with a single mission and now they made the tools needed to do those missions even cheaper :s.
Maybe an idea to help hunters out put an npc in every capital that needs different mob parts weekly and have him pay a nice premium for those parts so we can make some money aswell to survive.

So when you go on about things that don't make sense in Ryzom or you don't like that's OK but when other people express opinions about how the economy is now unbalanced because you get far less dapper for mats than items cost to buy then they are whining? There's a word for that.

You have a right to express an opinion as does anyone else, calling them whiners isn't an opinion, it's an insult so kindly refrain from that. While I accept that the old economy probably did need some balancing, the devs have gone too far the other way in many people's opinion and that's what the concerns are about.

In the old system, it was possible to pretty much do what you want and still earn dappers to get by but now many people feel they are being FORCED to play certain ways and the typical Ryzom players I know don't like that.

Having said that, I do feel the game has always been unbalanced between hunters and crafters, I didn't become rich till I took up foraging and crafting. However, now the imbalance is much more pronounced.

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

So much petulant butthurt. So little time. Might as well start at the top and take it in order:

- Thanks for the apt demonstration of what I was talking about, Lexius. The hunting and digging dovetail nicely into doing missions, which (at least on the crafting side anyway) has simply taken the place of grind-crafting for cash and levels at the stables.

Which would be massively overcrowded with players doing the same were it not for the revaluation of the dapper. But hey, so long as YOU'RE happy, everyone else can go to hell, right? Right. Moving on, but again - thanks for the apt demonstration. Enjoy your charmed life.

You actually brought up a viable complaint. You're right. Hunter missions are exceptionally undervalued. If an adventurer is risking life and limb on, say, a bounty hunt for bandits, they should get paid handsomely for it because the adventurer(s) is (are) out there doing something the guards should be doing but for some odd reason cannot.

I don't think it's too much to ask for that kind of complaint to be more prevalent. I'm sick to DEATH of hearing what people DON'T want. Thank you for saying what you DO want. It shows you've actually thought about the issue instead of just whining about it like the previous poster.

- Riku, I disagree that our grind trash should be worth anything to a merchant. By definition, a merchant is a person who buys low and sells high. Frankly, I'm amazed they even allow us to compete with them on such favorable consignment terms.

As far as the optimal path to wealth, I have to again state that I see very little difference in doing the crafting missions and parking my butt at the stables grind-crafting. If anything, it's made the money-making process a bit more efficient in my eyes. Maybe even helps form an actual economy by creating artificial supply and demand (since the missions never change, the same mat types are always required).

- Jela, I agree that the missions lack variety. All the regular missions need some kind of re-write. I'd happily volunteer for the job. Where do I apply?

While reading this thread I was reminded of the "old" times... back in the beginning of the game you got dappers from killed bandits (instead of loot)

I don't think that reitroducing this would be a good idea but how about using the same method as for the butcher?
Once all bandits are killed (and you've got the apropriate mission) there will be some random loot in the chest - this can be dappers or gear or materials fitting the region the bandits are in.

And finally a small hint for other hunters out there:
If you hunt cutes/frahar/gibai you'll get far more for the jools when selling them to the merchant than for the normal loot (I'm getting 50-70 dappers for one jool from the 200 area but only 3-4 dappers for one normal loot item making it 6-20 dapers per animal) on resale the loot will be bought though, thus giving more dappers in the long term - the jools ofc not as noone wants jools without boost ;-)

Oh, and if someone wants a pair of Igara leather boots they're probably still in the merchant in the Burning desert - I had quite some fun crafting them from the Igara loot I had collected (everything except lining was from Igaras) ;-)

And while waiting for the Clopper Hill achivement I had fun was cloppers and circular attack too!
