if you think it's wrong to reset ppl simply because they're not paying to play. read on if you want to know why i feel this is total crap, if not simply vote on the poll.

sorry to say but if your a free to play char your simply going to loose everything that you have worked for, that 800,000 dappers you collected while on the island before you went to the main land, gone, all the good items you worked hard to get and buy, gone, the stats you gained, gone, the skills you learned, gone, i wish i could have logged all the hours i've played f2p on here, just so i could say look i wasted x hours getting to x lvl. (I would guess that in the last 15 months i've played around 1000 hours or more) i didn't want to go to the main land untill i was at least lvl 40 in everything, i wanted to go with 1,000,000 dappers, i wanted to have good skills, and spend a long time taking tiny xp on the island while helping others that were just learning the game, and what thanks do i get for all that, deletion of everything i worked so hard for because i was f2p, i wanted to wait till i was closer to the lvl cap before i paid for that first year, playing free had drawbacks, but paying just to loose everything a little over a year later, that would have really made me mad, as it is, i see this as the death of ryzom, and i see it as a sure bet that those like me that might have paid in time to keep playing and getting higher lvl's beyond the f2p cap will now not pay at all, because why should we pay when you might have to merge or move or upgrade the next time the "server" has an issue. games like WoW not only own servers, but also rent them as needed, so i guess when all the information on a rented server is going to be switched to an owned server, they just delete everyone on the rented one?, not a chance becasue they wouldn't keep people paying and playing, come up with a better excuse for why your deleting everyone and everything that they have if they're not a paid user, or the truth, you want to force ppl to pay. have a nice day, rest in peace dear Ryzom, you almost made me want to pay every month to play, then you did this.

I didn't know you could play 15months (1000s of hours) on WoW for free?
Don't you think after 15months and 1000s of hours you could pay up and support the game?
And about ppl stopping well I've heard of some ppl stopping like you but all of those where never gonna pay anything anyway.
On the other hand I've seen loads of ppl subbing and loads of oldies returning in these last few weeks so it seems their idea is working at the moment.

(and with 3servers in one you won't be missed)

ps. Search before you post this has been posted more then once before we don't need a thread for every f2p feeling unhappy

as far as F2P losing their stuff: If it meant anything to you, you'd sub. your lack of willingness to support the efforts of the Ryzom team kinda shows how little you care about the game or your time.

i'm a recent 'discoverer' of the game. i've only had the time to play a little bit. but i like what i see and have subbed. not just because the game is complex and sandboxy enough to satisfy me on many levels, but because this is the only open source MMORPG out there and i want to see it do well. and let's say things go south with the game (hey, hasn't that happened to this very same game before?!), because Ryzom Core is open source, I'm sure we'll see some cool things rise from the ashes...
I actually feel like that sub fee goes to fix and develop the game, not just pad out the wallets of the Board like it would with a game from EA or Activision.

Love ya Ryzom. Keep on keeping on!

So you've played for free for 15 months , building up 1000 hours ingame , yet only got to " almost " wanting to pay each month .

Sorry , but that to me says you would never have paid at all .

perhaps ur right that every f2p player is upset, don't we have a right, ryzom was (and is) the BEST free 2 play game out there, the level cap and not being able to have everything that the subbed players have is a fair trade off in my book for the ability to play for free, and like i said in the original post here, i wanted to play to a high level prior to subbing, giving me time to build up my char as a restricted player lacking some of the bonuses of a paying player, until said time when i would have been forced to pay to advance beyond, i've NEVER played WoW or any other MMO because one of two things, you have to 1, buy the game at the store, and 2 pay every month to play it, Ryzom was free to get (if you dl it) and that was the first thing that got my intrest, after that i read up and found that you could also play for free with a few restrictions, a fair trade to paying in my book, and as for you saying that i never planed on paying, on that note your wrong, my plan was to try to play to the cap for free, then pay to go beyond, if WoW or any other MMO would let you do that, i would be more then happy to invest hours in them, but they won't and don't, that being said, I still feel that Ryzom was and is a far better game. on another note about my lack of supporting the game, i've NEVER left the "sandbox" (never went to the main land) and once i had completed all the missions there i stayed and helped other new players get started, helped them with missions and questions, guided them through the game and towards their goals of completing the "training" part of the game, how many of you saying i never planed on paying have a toon that's getting 40 or 50 xp for killing anything, crafting anything, harvesting anything, and still playing that one toon ONLY on the starter island? on a side note, the biggest thing Ryzom does that got my attention is it's open source, something i think makes it stand out from EVERY OTHER MMO. further more even if you are a paying player, you too will loose all your items and dappers in the merge, so i feel that you are being punished for your hard work AND being done wrong even though you have paid, i just don't see why anything has to be done to the inventory you have or the dappers you have earned. this plan that is being carried out makes me worry that if i did pay all this time i would be loosing everything i paid for, i'm hurt to loose what i've earned, you as a paying player should be flat out pi$$ed to loose all your stuff. regardless, i'm going to stick around and see what happenes after everything is said and done, perhaps i'll continue to play (for free) but now i will forever have a major doubt about ever paying because what's to stop them from doing this all over again in the future.

clicked on the wrong one, lolx, show's how upset i was when i posed this that i voted against myself, sad that i liked this game so much as to say everything i said, the poof, i go and vote against myself, oops, too late now. at this point i say hell with it, let them wipe me out, i've done all this to get where i'm at now, i can do it all again, and sad to say i like the game enough to do it too, but now when i reach the level cap i may just stay there and not pay to go beyond in fear that everything may yet again be wiped clean.

Not pissed at all , they have given their reason as to why they are merging in the way they are . I'm a realist and can understand the reasoning .
Is it annoying to lose gear , yes , but not something i'm going to spit my dummy out over , afterall , i have actually resubbed just to keep some of my characters levels , and to Reckless my Main char .
Also , i would rather they did this , than just say " Bye , can't afford it , were closing " , like every other MMO does in this situation .

But i get you , you played for free for 15 months , and despite claiming to like the game and being upset over losing stuff ( which , if you liked the game that much you would sub , afterall , it really isn't that much money a month ) you will continue to play for free after the merge and not pay ....
Sorry if that sounds harsh , but that is really how you are coming across .

come what may, and i'm sorry if i sound like i'm upset, the items i have i can get again, the money i've made i can make again, the skills i have i can get again, every thing i can do again, but i would rather keep what i had, regardless of the outcome of my rant about all that i'm loosing i'll still play the game, it's just that now i have more to wonder about, and saddly i didn't find out about the merge and wipe untill 2 weeks after my once monthly payday, and i didn't have it budgeted to pay out the extra 106.00 us for a year, monthly payments is crazy, buy it by the year or play for free is my feelings, maybe next month i'll do it, but i doubt it, because if this doesn't help them keep the game alive it will indeed be the end of the game, i hope that doesn't happen, but if it does, the MMO world will loose this player, as this is in my opinion one that was worthy of playing just because you can play for free.

Nobody really knows how many F2P players will disappear because of the wipe.
Nobody really knows how many F2P players have/will Sub because of the wipe.
Nobody really knows how many lapsed/returning players have returned because of the wipe.

Subbed players, having been threatened with total wipe, are feeling a little schadenfreude concerning the F2P players. If there have to be sacrifices to ensure the continuation of the game we all love, that really sucks but that's life.

One thing we can be sure of - if some kind of F2P scheme remains after the wipe, there will be lots of F2P players in the future. I hope so because the game needs them. Sure people will try out the game and then drift away, but most subbed players started out as F2P.

Is it fair? No. Is it necessary? Yes. Is it going to kill the game? HELL NO.

So you played 15months on silan and was gonna pay for the game once you reach the lvl cap of lvl125 there, gl was never gonna happen. Actually i've heard alot of complains about f2p's on siland camping the kiro boss to just lvl some more so others can't do their mission properly so good to get rid of those, I have no idea why pl would stay on silan.
You are talking about the sandbox but you where never in it you where on siland a quest driven platform to help new players understna dtheir first 1-7days in this game why you would stay there 15months is beyond me.

About the game being reset we understand the dificultys the game had, we welcome the 2 other communities that are verry different of ours a reset of dapper and items is kind of normal since these server have developped in different ways. Did you even read the announcements they are reforming the whole value of dapper ingame, how would they do that without resetting?

... but aren't free accounts free to go to the mainland? It's been a long time since they lifted that restriction, hasn't it? It would be much easier to level on the mainland than on Silan. I don't know why anyone would stick around there if they didn't have to.

Talkirc
i didn't have it budgeted to pay out the extra 106.00 us for a year, monthly payments is crazy, buy it by the year or play for free is my feelings
but that's a decision you made. The limitation is in place by you. You could do a monthly payment just for this month to keep your levels and then when you can afford a longer subscription switch to that. The savings aren't that significant for just one or two months that you should be worrying about that, compared to the concern of keeping your levels for a game you want to play. I mean if you don't want to play obviously the concern of losing levels is misplaced, but it's not an uncommon misplaced fear.

Arfur

The company knows, or at least has some idea.
if some kind of F2P scheme remains after the wipe
It must. It would be pointless to tell people they have options as free account holders if only subscribed accounts will be active. Otherwise they would just tell them to subscribe now to keep their levels, since otherwise they'd lose their levels for no reason. (that's two otherwises. horrible grammar. need sleep.)

Jup f2p can and should go to the mainland once they feel ready (or after all missions on silan). But it seems some f2p's that didn't have intentions to go to mainland since they can't master there and play the bully at lvl 125 stayed on silan because at lvl 50 they can decide who does what there and they can bully the newcomers. Some of our new guildies the last 6months told us horror storie's of "high-lvl" silan players not allowing them to kill the kiro boss and so on ..
