i can not believe that ryzom could stay alive without F2P's
( let imagine that only P2P who are playing this game :
1 - it would be a very small comunity
2 - ryzom would lose loads of skilled F2P's--> they used to help new players all different ways )
3 - if ryzom would face an economic trouble in the futur so surely it would be the end of this lovely game cause many mastered players will leave ( as we saw after the first announcement many subb players decided to leave yak......)
-----
do not consider F2P's as Profitless community

I think F2P's are good people kinda like the guy that lives in the bedroom section of Super Wal-mart and lives off the free samples for nourishment and gets plenty of rest. True neither are hurting anybody but at the same time neither are helping pay for the resources that keep the establiment running and are only there getting the party crunk.
I respect all homins who play the game but I think it's a bit rude to ask for more when you are already provided unlimited "free samples".

Bones
think it's a bit rude to ask for more.
pfft they are going to wipe our levels which means along time of hard working would gone (years for some old F2P's) :(
as i said basic pack doesn't push us to play again
so as a homins we want a really rewards or ...
we used to help ppl from different races and guildes and now they are subb players "grace of us" ( i do not want to say that but i have to ..)

#38 Report | Quote[en]

But to ask for a reward for f2p is like asking to win the lottery without even purchasing a ticket tbh. I'm not trying to sound mean, I'm just keeping it real.

lottery? dude cmon, at most, subs are only getting what they paid for already, and F2Pers helped them get that, we're only asking for the same support we gave you.

Exactly , they have paid for it .

Yes , the game benefits from f2p players in the form of a more visible population and the reward you get in return for that is to play without cost (albeit with limited skills) if you don't want to subscribe . I personally think that is more than enough support really .
Asking for even more on top of that just feels wrong to me . You all get a chance of getting a basic pack by taking part in the events they have planned , which is also a form of reward as well .
Granted , the events help , but it isn't something they had to do.

Poeple saying " but i spent years on this free character , give me more " annoy me in a way . Surely if you have played for free for that long , its time you repayed that by supporting the company financially .
I know some won't like reading that and say how they have helped do this and the other ingame on a free account , well , " Paying " customers have done the same.

#42 Report | Quote[en]

no, i mean we helped the subs get their levels back...

anyway, we'll see after this weekend's events are over if they are really going to give everyone who participates a basic pack or just those that "win"--how someone can "win" at a TP tour is beyond me.

imo that will be a pivotal moment for F2P players in Ryzom...

I hear alot of big numbers here and even the word 'years', f2p in the form it is now has only been possible for 1year and 5months (6months) really.

From patchnotes: http://forums.ryzom.com/showthread.php?t=35224

Patch 1.11.0 - Ryzom is now Free To Play and new boss! On Wednesday, March 9 between 09:00 and 11:00 GMT, the servers will be brought down for the implementation of patch 1.11.0.

This patch brings the following:

New Free Trial System

We are pleased to announce that from now on, players that create a new account can play Ryzom without time or place limits. Instead, free trial accounts are now limited to a maximum level of 125 in all different skills, enabling everyone to sample all aspects of Ryzom and to discover what makes this MMO unique. When you reach level 125 in a skill you can still continue playing, but you will gain no more experience points. The second limitation is storage: you cannot own any mektoub packers, use the inventory of your apartment or take any items from a guild hall.

Despite the freedom of this new system, we would like to remind you that Ryzom can only live on through your paid subscriptions. Thank you for the confidence you have in us. ...

^this

Most paid players come back from time to time and many have never left at all. I usually stay subbed so that I can come back when I have the time.

Again, not trying to sound mean but I just really do not understand the logic of using human resources for this when there are soooo many f2p accounts that are not even being used.
Most people who have played the game both subbed and F2P worked very hard for what they have accomplished, I'll give you that. But you took the car for a test drive and now you have to pay if you wanna take her home.

#46 Report | Quote[en]

Well a lot of ppl are still concerned about even being able to keep their identities so thats a valid point.

And, I think we're all missing the point that many of us are willing to pay for the retention of levels once (as long as we don't get locked into an agreement).

This isn't about a handout, we're willing to pay.

The problem remains the time it takes to implement these options before the 29th, so maybe both P2P and F2P should be trying to support the devs as best we can, so that they can help work towards reducing the player loss as much as possible.

Unfortunately I think there will be some, but not as much as previously expected.

edit: actually we only got to drive the compacts, as we don't get meks, just mounts

Player loss really?
Guild I'm in probably doubled in size since the announcement because old players returning and most of those returning do plan to play again, then there are some f2p players in the guild that already signed up and or are planning to in the next week.
All I would say atm it looks like ryzom is growing quite rapid, and counting that 2 other servers will be added, atys will be quite full a busy place the first months probably.
Not saving f2p levels might even help because you won't see 6 lvl 125 alts running around behind some guys to go on solo boss kills, now these ppl will need to retrain their alts and team with others to take on bosses atleast for some time. (I know some ppl have subbed alts aswell but well they payed for em, can't do anything about those and not sure we even should)
