If you really wanna see ripoff, try LOTRO for example...

Owned by WB (in NO WAY short on cash), yet they got a pay to win, more bugs than this, lag issues that make Ryzom lag "a much needed relief" (no sarcasm), $40-70 expansions (with "best" package being basically a ripoff to catch fluff lovers off guard in the pre-purhase hype), costs same a month as here, $20 horses... and some bait n' switch sales tactics you wouldn't believe.

If this in fact was a devious plan to get people to sub, honestly a struggling company has my "go ahead" to pull this kind of stunt. $15 to keep like 4 months of skills (yes i'm kinda new... ) is worth it, if I can't play much as has been the case lately i can unsub and hop back in later... If luck gives me good playing time, got my skills ready and a new character which'll make a handy pure healer. Maybe give back to my guild a bit?

Just be thankful that Ryzom lives.. the bigtime commercial MMO market lately is %"$#!$% and moneygrabbing, REALLY hard to find a pure subscription game these days. And listen to customers? HAAAH

I'd rather have this game lean on me for the extra cash and see it not only continue but get some upgrading in the future. Cash is cash, I don't see any complainers offering $10k to maintain the current status quo... and I ain't got 'em ... $15 I do.

Anyhoo my 2 cents.

With a few reservations, specifically the chance for stratifiction due to an xp incentive (not to mention initial strategies and their motivations), one can say that most of the major demands for P2P have been met. Though in terms of population, F2P players still remain without an option to retain lvls. Since population is the reason we are merging in the first place, the new server may be suprisingly sparse without us.

Assuming it isn't lame, I suppose we should treat the outpost battle as the final one leading to our withdrawal to Silan; however, one had hoped for a more server-wide wave of kitins, with less dev/csr/gm involvement.

Re.

P.S. Since ML was always paid content, perhaps returning Silan back to its F2P roots might not be a bad idea also? Level retention++

I dont understand why all paying customers do not get premium packages by default even IF they decide to keep their levels. We keep you in business. I feel like im taking crazy pills.

The point of this is to reset all gear. Why would they then give everyone special gear just because they're paying? The point of the premium package is to give incentive for people to start from a full wipe (which is what they wanted everyone to do.)

Also, people work very hard for this special gear, and giving it away to every paying account would decrease the rarity and be kind of a slap in the face to those who've completed the content to earn the rewards.

the whole thing has been a slap in the face. giving something that has no actual value to your loyal customers to make them happy seems perfectly reasonable to me.

why are they trying so desperately to get me to zap all my work? crippling me is better for them? huh?? time for my pills i suppose.

I gues ppl will never be happy, I myself am rolling a new char after the wipe not because of the gear but wanna do somethings over and now is the best time for it anyway.
If they gave everyone the premium pack then ppl rerolling woud have been asking for the super premium pack and so on.

Well premium package gives 1m dappers..so it makes 5m per paid account if they give it to all paid account without doing anything...With their way of doing u might have only 1 premium package per account so economy doesnt exploit again?

(or may be im wrong lol)

Well this is certainly an improvement, now I have to decide whether to renew my sub and save my levels....

Found the "f2p keep the game alive" argument hysterical, yeah right, someone who is taking up system resources and not paying a penny for it is helping no end... duh !

f2p accounts have no more right to be maintained than my unsubbed p2p account, if you want rights, stick your hands in your pockets, otherwise, get over it cos you're just sponging

Yes -- you are wrong. It clearly says only one toon per paid account can do the "Reckless" designation.

I'm not saying P2P players are better then F2P players but I think it comes down to money and time. I myself have probably 4 f2p accounts i've used for fun or even more and i think alot of ppl are like me then there are the real f2p players, ppl with f2p alts and the f2p players that made account and only used it once and so on; there have to be an unimagenable amount of f2p accounts.

Firstly, I agree that no one should cry too much about unsubs losing everything - they can get a basic pack by participating in one of the events. It may make some of them take out a subscription. If Suboxide is right there could be hundreds, if not thousands of dormant unsubbed accounts where players have tried the game and not returned. If nothing else, this reset will clear a lot of dormant accounts, which will help in all sorts of ways.

I do, however, think we must be careful not to think of unsubbed players as somehow unworthy. Many of them will be players who are making up their minds about the game. Who among us did not start out unsubbed for however long before 'putting our hands in our pockets'?

I think the previous arrangements for unsubbed players was an unbelievably good deal and we can't blame people for taking advantage of it. The new arrangement - half XP for unsubs and no CATS - is a genius idea. We all know the worst part of the game is grinding. This will hopefully motivate a greater number of undecideds to pay up and support the game we all love.

Not only am I going to sub - timing of the Great Wipe has concentrated the mind, as it were, I'm taking out a Monthly subscription. The has two advantages;

- first it means more cash for Ryzom (3 monthly, 6 monthly + yearly subs work out cheaper)

- second it means if things go bad and the game has to close (I really, really hope not) then I'm taking the minimum risk

I think this way, you are doing it right.

I always said that a server merge was needed, it will bring more players to play with, your actions have more meaning because of one gameworld, it will be great.

Keeping levels will be great, and this way you will earn some extra from all the vets that are comming back to sub so they don't loose there character and skills, and part of them will stay subbed.

Also the way free accounts are handled by giving them packs look good to me.

One question tho, how is it going to work with character name duplicates, anyone know?
