bottom line, if you don't pay, you loose everything you ever played for, really sucks too, no real excuse for deleting everything a non paying char has to "balance" things, with the level cap how could we really ever get anything that good to start with? Sad to say but as an IT pro, i know that there's no need to say it's required that you loose everything you played all this time for because of a merge, that's funny in my book, companies don't loose all their data when we move from one server to another, so what gives, instead of trying to do this to FORCE people to pay, offer bonuses or better stuff for those that do pay, on top of that, something like this is the very reason that am now a firm believer that when i did start (and i had planned on it) to pay that there would be another "merge" and all the hard work that i would have put in playing to lvl up would be lost, and as a paying player i would have really been pissed, here in lies the very flaw that kept me form ever playing an MMO, then i find this game and start playing and giving it a chance, start to like it and enjoy it and think to myself hey, if this keeps going good, i'll subscribe to it, then this, what a joke, and thanks for showing me that had i started out over a year ago paying for this game that in just a few short days i would loose everything that i would have been paying to play for over a year would be lost. At one point i was starting to think maybe i had been wrong about mmo's and the logic of payin for a game every month (or year as i would have done) just to one day loose all my hard work and time and effort because of a pointless tactic to force players that play for free to pay, and so forth. enough on this rant, thanks ryzom for showing me i was right about mmo's, if you pay, you still loose, so why bother to pay for something every month (or year) when your just going to loose out in the end.

You said yourself you would pay if you liked the game. So now it is easy. Either you like it, and stick to your own idea, and get to keep your toon as a bonus, or you don't like it and leave.
End of story.

Huh. I missed that. It says "You will not be able to exchange the items in the packs." but does that mean the content of the packs are non-negotiable, or that the items are bound to that character and can't be given to anyone else? I always find the messages not very clear. You have to go to an earlier news item just to find out that previously subbed but currently unsubbed characters will get deleted.
edit: I asked someone in chat (Mokoi, who's name was purple so they were a ... dev?) and while they said they'd have to look into it, they said the armor wasn't unique to the premium pack, so like medium marauder armor will be obtainable in the game at some point. That helps me make my decision. and it suggests that there wouldn't be a reason I couldn't trade the item to another player (like an alt on an alt account).
Still... It's an option even if it is stuck on one character. I mean, it's not like having the armor on the character you don't play will stop you from playing the other character. You'd just have it for looks then. I guess it's a waste, but so is losing all those levels, I guess. and you could change your mind and play the premium character.

Great, I can't decide. and I'm running out of time because it looks like the even on the 28th was moved up to the 27th. but I guess that's mostly for my free account, since a paid account wouldn't need to participate in the events. Also they mentioned that there were events going on now, so I'm guessing it's not JUST what's on the calendar. (not that the basic pack is that important for my free account, but might be nice.)

Oh well... Worst case scenario: I'm out $11 and I regret who I put the premium pack on in either case, or I put off the decision and... Coralvine is gone forever.
It's all virtual and fleeting anyway. I shouldn't let fear of loss burden my decisions. Coralvine lived her life and now it's over. I should realize that my reluctance to play the game even for free is probably a good indicator that I don't want to play. It's too bad I don't have more time. We'll see.

I'm from Leanon and I 'm just here to say :I'm proud , that we can playing together and a lot of people on Leanon thinkin' in the same way, the most I think. Some are assuredly a lil fearfully about the 'pull up' but we will manage it and we can, I hope :) . Only the comm can grow together ,yes we ,not winchgate or the GM's....we have to.
I dont really trust winchgate but the gm-team and the event-team are very assiduously and trustworthily and so ryzom will have a chance to surrvive.
Like u can see...my english is not the smoothest one ...germanlike :) ...but for the most it will be enough aaaaand with ambitions it will be not a problem... :D. The country-ghetto's are surely not the best idea , but we should try to take this rocks in our way and throw it through the winchgate -office-windows :D . Cya on the new server.
For a good RP and a lot of fun ,long live ryzom !

I dont know if thats a really lucky day for the next period of ryzom. The reason of my doupt is,that we in ger have on the 3.oct a official state holiday . If the contest begins on the 2. the germans will have a bad advantage...but it should be fair....
The comm should be grow together , this date would be the next rock ...
If it is the 2. ,dont count on me being in that race !

This is a fair compromise to the original idea of completely "wiping" the characters out, especially considering the time some have put into their characters... Yes, you have to pay to keep your stats... it's a business and the game is awesome, if your a serious player than pay! Show your support to WG, help make the game more interactive, and help keep the it alive for future players.

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.
