Welcome back Neva, a CSR said in Uni last night that you will not keep the preorder shields, titles that are kept are the Elder of Atys ones, and only that other than that they are gone.

Stinks don't it. I paid good money for that. One of the few in game indicators that someone has played this game from the start and actually bought it before it was released. Taken away when it doesn't really need to be, it's so weak as an actual shield it's hardly an unbalancing item.

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

It wasn't 100 billion dappers or NPC armor or boss mats I treasured, but the odds and ends crafted over the years by folks whose company I may never again get to enjoy. It was always nice hopping into the apartment to take a trip down memory lane... heck, I'd even throw a few more $$$ away to keep a few of those things. Oh well.

If nothing else, damn, this thread brought back some old names. Good stuff. Still on the fence about giving 2.0 a shot, been keeping a sub open for the past couple years holding onto the distant hope of winning the lottery or something and just playing Ryzom instead of working. But MMOs just don't fit into the daily grind anymore, though I still dream of those Fount palms swaying in the breeze from time to time.

I agree wholeheartedly with you, it's not any kind of super gear that I'd want to keep. It's normal items that have sentimental value.

Was quite confused when I was clearing out my spam box and found this email about Ryzom, it's been such a long time since I last set foot on Atys, I sure wouldn't mind setting foot there again.. It's pretty sad to see old memrobelia go, but on the other hand, maybe this can breathe a breath of fresh air into the old girl.
Heck, I may just come back myself. It's been long enough now, I've seen enough "Ryzom is dead" posts to know that this game takes a lot of killing to truely go.

I for one would love to see a return to Ryzom, a clean slate, a fresh start. Maybe more oldies will think the same?

(I wonder if that toon I parked in Galemus still exists?)

BTW, anyone worrying about the premium package: why not add a low level alt to the list of the reckless, and then give the armor to your high level character so you don't have to sacrifice skill levels? Maybe that badge only shows up for one character, but is that just on the forums, or in-game too (with a title?)? Maybe they'll implement BoP items that you can't give to your other characters. ;>

I checked out Ryzom's site on a whim, and my free account didn't get an email about this. (perhaps because I set it not to email me?)
I've been putting off returning to Ryzom even on my free account. I haven't played since that transition period when it was free for everyone. (or there was another free trial since then.)

I'm not sure what my old account means to me, considering I haven't played in years... My old guild is gone and all my guildmates. I barely remember most of them any more.
Do I want to pay $11 to stick some fancy armor on my character (that we won't even know how (in)obtainable it will be. Medium bandit armor??), if I'm just going to unsubscribe? Then again, what's $11?

One day soon I'm aiming to craft myself my Zorai mask in real life. That's what I really really want, to return to the jungles in real life. I've been looking into papercraft cosplay crafting. (I'd also like to do some weapons and armor if I can.) I think that's a better memento than virtual armor.

(I know it's foolish, but I wish my subbed account could be played for free with skills temporarily lowered to the maximums of free accounts. Oh well.)
