Yes, this is essential. If you make everyone "rich", at least block the materials vendors.

If you compare the loss of levels gained for free to the loss of items, mementos and teleport pacts that the paid vets are getting, I'm afraid that I don't see that the F2P players are getting more screwed than the rest of us are. The loss of items and dappers is necessary to restart the economy. The loss of teleports is part and parcel of the same. (The fact that any cash/dapper-based economy is doomed by the continuous flood of materials is beside the point.) The merge is necessary for RL economic reasons. The internal economic reset is designed to help attract players who want to buy things rather than trade them. The revision of the terms of the reset is designed to keep paying vets on board who would otherwise leave. No one is happy, which means that something approaching equity has been achieved. ("In a true compromise, no one is completely happy.")

The design of this game does not lend itself to a dapper based economy. You can reset as many times as you want but without things like high level drops that can be sold in an auction house you will never have any real economy there. The pricing of things needs to fluctuate. Supply and Demand needs to happen and these two things need to be determined by the players in an organic way. The game does not lend to that. Not saying that the current way we do things is wrong or incorrect. Im perfectly happy with it. But what WG wants with regards to dappers, aint happening :)

They can ofcourse make things painful. Make things cost more dappers, nerf teleporting, etc. But thats not the same thing.

While loss of f2p levels may be comparable to loss of old one items, (like very unique, and very hard-to-find/obtain/earn items, etc), please don't forget MOST (not many but most) of the F2P player base is in danger of losing their identities as well...

This is causing a great deal of uncertainty and stress within the F2P community.
If we really are in the vast majority (over 2/3 player base), then this has probably also had some effect gamewide--esp. when there are events when competition over Basic Starter Packs occurs...

I think it would be very helpful for this game, if F2P players were given some assurances that at least our identities will carry over, if we show at least some willingness to keep a particular character.

This could be expressed in a number of very simple ways like a ticket, acknowledgment under Temporary Fixes, or simple participation (not competition) in any event.

Simple acknowledgement is the way many understood it when announced.

Um, Yumeroh already said that f2p only have to participate, not compete. Read the second point under free account from the very first post which I quote below:

If you have a free account, you have the choice between:
  • Doing nothing: In this case, all characters of the account will be deleted.
  • Involve one or more of your characters in events before the servers close: In this case, their levels will be reset and will start with a Basic Pack.
If your character should win a Silver Pack, it will replace the Basic Pack.

All starter packs save the toon's look and name.

True, and thanks for clarifying, but the way some of them are playing out is a form of competition for survival against fellow Homins...

Either give them to everyone who participates, or no one.

Competing over them is just kinda sad and gross imo.

Hopefully the TP tour on Sat. will be more inclusive, and more universal with the Basic Starter Packs.

Also, if Refugee Starter Packs existed, they would be very easy to give out if some CSR's would like to stand around in the camp in Silan for a bit. We've started from nothing before, and Silan is not a bad place to do it again.

edit: that's in terms of getting a starter pack at all, competing for a silver one over a basic one is a different issue
edit: we experienced at least one on silan yesterday on Ari, where only 3 were given out on ML, and 3 on silan... interesting gesture, but the result was not so good

hmm i don't see where thats mentioned. No where do i remember them talking of a kitin invasion. before or after

Unless peps are talking of PvP I really don't see how older homins over power new homins. If you're new and don't want help then fine dont take. But Ryzom is set up so there are low lvl areas and higher lvl areas, I don't see many high lvl players farming low lvl mobs etc. I just don't see where this idea of 'over powerment' comes from. unless its PvP in which case you should say "PvP" not in the game general.

Creating a level playing field is silly ryzom is stratified by regions naturally. I just don't see it. And not sure how they intend to fix dappers, the only problem with dappers is that theres no big ticket items to buy since we're limited to certain numbers of mektoubs, apts, guild halls. yea not seeing it. am i missing something?

i was refering to the reasons for the reset wipe that some keep talking about. Paying players will definitly be separated from f2p because of the xp change.
